Hot & sour soup done perfectly
    John T.

The service here is excellent and always courageous. The ambiance has never changed in 12 yrs. Same table setup and very low noise levels. Good lighting and a good place to eat and have a conversation. I cannot say enough about how good the food is. Every dish is consistent. The hot and sour soup was as good today as it was when I first ate it 12 years ago. The chengdu beef was excellent as always and the same with the pepper chicken. If it says spicy and you don't specify that you don't want it spicy you need to speak up. Please patronize this family run business I promise you will not be disappointed. It has been 12 years worth of meal here and I have never been sorry once.

I have visited this place twice in a week. That's how good the food is. There are 2 sides of the menu. The main ones is more like an American-Chinese menu like Orange chicken. The second side is the real deal Chinese cuisine. The first visit I came here alone so I only ordered stir-fried eggplant and beef tendon and shank with hot oil. The portions were pretty big. I had a leftovers for 2 other meals. The second visit I brought my husband with me so we could order more food! We ordered roasted pork belly with mustard greens, stir-fried string beans, classic dumplings, stir fried eggplant, and clams with black beans. Wow...everything was delicious. The food here has its natural umami flavor. They are not drenched in sugar and all the sauces. Some people might consider it as "bland" but for us it was delicious! Well, I don't know about the other American-Chinese dishes since I didn't order them. It might be sweet like it always is. Maybe try it yourself :) Overall, the restaurant was clean and the service was excellent.

I crave their beef noodle soup. The broth is so tasty and great when the weather starts cooling down. All the food is authentic and the owners are so friendly. It's in a shopping complex so my family avoided for a long time. We regret we didn't find this place sooner. It's now my go to chinese restaurant whenever we are in Brentwood

It's hidden in the middle of some shops so it can be hard to find, but parking is plentiful. It's rather small on the inside but they have some chairs to sit outside as well. This place has some pies, soups, egg tarts, and of course, the best selling item- bubble tea! Strawberry Lemon Tea with Boba- This was the most refreshing drink for a hot summer's day. I told the owner that I wanted something fruity and she suggested this. I'm so glad that I listened to her. This was like a light strawberry lemonade with a slight taste of tea. Of course the perfectly chewy boba at the end of very sip was just the cherry on top. I had to wait a little bit for my drink and just hung out in my car while they got my order ready. They make everything from scratch so it was DEFINITELY worth the wait. I also want to note that for my lactose intolerant friends out there, they use only lactose free milk for their milk teas. For my vegan friends, they have coconut milk as a sub! I will be back soon to try more bubble tea flavors and some of their pastries as well!

Tucked away in an unassuming corner of Germantown, the restaurant provides free 15 minute parking for pickup orders and FREE validated parking for an hour. That alone was a great start for me. The menu is small, with 3 kinds of dumplings, and sides of edamame, sticky rice, and cucumber salad. I ordered the classic pork dumplings, edamame, and passion fruit tea. The order came out very quickly, and the taste and texture of every item was incredible. One thing I really appreciated was the quality of the dumpling dough. With some places, the filling slides out of the dough as soon as you take a bite. With these, everything held together well, even with my rudimentary chopstick skills. What really set this visit apart for me was the service. We had the pleasure of meeting Grace, the owner (the "daughter" in the name!) and had a lovely conversation. Her passion for the food, the people, and the city shone through. If you try one new restaurant this year, make it Mama Yang & Daughter!

So good I bought some of their frozen items to take home with me! This place is an absolute must try. We will be back and looking forward to attending their next dumpling making class!

It was an interesting restaurant as we walked in. The decor didn't come across as Chinese. I'm glad my daughter was familiar with the place because I would not have known to go to the back counter to order. I tried asking a couple things about the menu but could not understand the worker that well. It seemed that he couldn't understand me either because he initially put in the wrong orders -- my daughter caught it before we paid. Very reasonable prices. I ordered the Roast Duck Noodles with the Marinated Egg added. My daughter got her usual "Build a Bowl" of Chong Qing Broth, Sliced Noodles, Steak and Fried Egg. I thought I had ordered a Shrimp Wonton appetizer, but a bowl of soup arrived. After asking the worker about it, he just kept saying it was soup (I know), so I just left that alone. Overall quite delicious -- very authentic Chinese flavors. Excellent house made noodles. The depth of flavor in the broths was fantastic. The proteins were seasoned nicely and cooked well. The bok choy in my soup still had a nice bite. The fried egg was crispy on the edges and perfectly runny in the middle. Unfortunately, I found the marinated egg too salty. Service was minimal -- after ordering, the food comes out and that's it. If you need something, you have to get up to ask. No one checks in. The area wasn't busy when we arrived, so parking was very easy right in front. I'm told it does get tough during peak times. I would definitely return for the food, not the service.

Sometimes setting yourself apart works - you know you can trust that you're consuming natural ingredients in every sip! I love a standard milk tea with tapioca pearls so the "tiger milk" is my go-to drink item here. The "thai tea" doesn't have any sweetened condensed milk like its authentic namesake, but I've come to enjoy the warmth of the spices accompanying the brown sugar simple syrup. Their matcha is great too! If you're in the mood for a quick snack, the mochi waffles and bun varieties never disappoint.

Eat Bubbles in particular has a QR code displayed prominently at the front counter to activate parking. The menu here is a little more advanced than the typical first generation American boba shop. They offer plenty of choices and allow sweetness and ice level adjustments. One thing I found to be nonobvious - all drinks under the "Fresh Brewed Teas" menu section are milk tea. They use lactose-free milk by default, which is a huge boon to people like me with lactose intolerance! Assam Milk Tea, Large, 50% Sweet, Less Ice w/ Boba ($7) - This drink has an interesting milk tea flavor that is a bit of a departure from a standard Assam. Instead of a fruity finish, this tea has a bit of a malty overtone, more pleasingly brown and earthy. It's a very thick drink and feels more rich than what only adding milk would be able to do. I believe they brew tea each morning and then fill individual pitchers for service. 50% sweet is a bit too sweet for my tastes with the additional sugar from the boba. It's not cloying, however. The boba is overall strange and not in a good way. The pearls are very inconsistent in both size and texture. In all cases, the pearls have soft exteriors, some approaching mushy, while others are okay. The interiors range from being too hard to almost mushy. The sizing of the boba is also variable, from small pebbles, to larger spheres. The boba is marinated for a long time, however, giving a somewhat minerally or perhaps herbal quality to them. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating 3/5 There aren't too many boba shops in Nashville, so while I wasn't enthralled with the drink, I think it's probably good for the area.

Almost always packed, even right before closing. I've done delivery a couple of times before finally showing up in person. (And now regret I ever did delivery. Pickup is easy and the fees are not worth it.) Menu is tight and purposeful: banh mi, pho, rice noodle bowls, a handful of appetizers, all inexpensive. The boba and fruit teas are an influencer's dream: colorful, instagrammable, with lots of interesting flavors to choose from. But the real draw here is the made-fresh-daily mochi donuts, and the flavor lineup leans decidedly international: taro glaze, Dubai chocolate, strawberry pocky, pistachio. My personal favorite is actually the plain sugar (maximum chewy mochi mouthfeel), but the fancier ones hold up, too. Miles better than what the nearby chain Asian bakeries are doing, and I have eaten at a lot of those. All that said, the actual food is not an afterthought. The tofu banh mi ($8.95) has become a genuine addiction, on what tastes like real, homemade French bread.
