The vegetables tasted like frozen, the shrimp was very low quality, and the "chicken" didn't even seem like real chicken--more like processed fillers with a strange texture. This Chinese place is close to my bros house and does the trick. I am a fan of their BBQ Ribs. Lots of meat and a great sauce that is not too sweet. My brother gets the General Tso and Crab Rangoons. I didn't try them but his food look delish a well. I thought the woman they call grumpy was pleasant; just tired. Food was made quickly (10 mins). The location is central in Brentwood so easy no matter which direction you are coming from. Ample parking and lots of stores nearby to browse in while waiting. read more

Standard Chinese wok shop with good enough offerings. Nothing amazing, but not bad. I think I saw the 'grumpy lady' that everyone is talking about snoozing with her head down at a side table so I didn't have the pleasure of a customer service experience with her LOL. I ordered my Tofu with Broccoli ($11.95) 'extra spicy' but it wasn't very spicy - you can tell they tried - but if you want something spicy you should probably just ask them for some chili oil on the side and call it a day. I also asked for 'little sauce' but still got a shit ton of sauce and had to do a gravity drain on my entrée for a few minutes before being able to finish it in good conscience. Overall a good food decision - I could've done much worse! I've often heard anecdotes regarding the trafficking of wok chef talent up and down the Eastern seaboard (Interstate 95) to wherever they are needed, and that is why Chinese restaurants with the exact same menus like this seem to be everywhere (and they are decent, but not inspired). The wok chef on duty appeared to be Latinx, so I mentally noted that this is probably not one of the mob-controlled wok shops. +1 star for this. Good quality food. Fast friendly service. The lo mein had a heavy sauce on it. Good but not great. General Tso Chicken was heavily breaded, didn't seem to be much meat down in there. Overall, a good go to when you want basic Chinese takeout, but not someplace to go out of your way for. read more

Been going here for 15 years at least. The black pepper chicken tonight was completely different and pretty lame. This time it was tiny pieces of chicken, breaded, and deep-fried with a little bit of peppers sprinkled on them. It was pretty horrible. The deep fried wings were quite tasty, which was the best part of my order. The fried rice that came with the three mains were dry and pretty much tasteless. Nashville is a desert when it comes to Chinese food. Either they are upscale restaurants or raggedy local takeout that looks infested by vermin. Neither are true about Chinese no 1. I ordered vía a mobile app and the prices were as if I ordered from a steakhouse with $18 being for Lo Mein and sesame chicken. The chicken was tender but the sauce was overpowering and very sticky, seemed very inauthentic compared to atlanta and New York Chinese food. The Crab Rangoon was the best order I've ever had as it came piping hot, thick and creamy just like you want it. I did not interact with the customer service side as it was a contactless delivery but overall it was a pretty mediocre meal for a sky high price. read more

I had been searching for a good Chinese restaurant after only living here 2 months. I took a few bites of rice once I got home after pouring soy sauce on the rice and luckily before taking my next bite, I noticed the worm. Utterly speechless. I thought the service was great ordering, but when I called the next day to let them know about what was in there, the woman was pretty arrogant and didn't seem to mind saying "well we cook our food so.." well obviously you do, but now not too sure how clean the kitchen really is. This is our new favorite Chinese food place to order from!! This place is an exact replica of what good Chinese food in New York is like. Very authentic. My personal favorite is the shrimp with broccoli, it is always amazing. They give just the right amount of rice, broccoli, and sauce to make this dish perfect! The soups are good, and we have also ordered lo mein, general tsaos chicken, and sesame chicken lunch specials all of which were great!! Lunch specials come with egg rolls which is a great bonus! As for what people have said about the woman on the phone, she is very nice when you go in person and order at the restaurant. I have spoken with her on the phone as well and have never had a problem. She doesn't understand English all that well so just give her a chance and have some patience!! Our meals are always delivered fast, hot and correctly. Will definitely be coming back here for all of our Chinese food cravings! read more

I walked in and ordered when the food came out I had a not flying around my head and then when I got the plastic where to eat, there was a dead gnat inside of the spoon. After having all these little bugs flying around, I looked up and saw they were coming out of the moldy vent above. I was almost worried to eat the chicken, but they did not seem phased that I was disturbed by all the gnats so I took a bite and the chicken was hard and stringy. read more

Our order was accurate and complete Unfortunately, the food was not to our expectations of a good Chinese cuisine takeout. For instance the Egg Foo Young was without any flavor and the pork fried rice was salty. To be fair, the egg rolls, wanton soup and beef Lo Mein were decently acceptable. Just left this establishment. Spent $42 on food. As the other reviews state the lady at the cash register is rude. I said thank when she's handed me my food. She did not reply, just walked away. TOO BASIC! Please know that this restaurant happens to be located in a very congested area. My husband placed an order to be picked up, (less than a mile from our hotel), and it took him thirty minutes just to pick it up and return. He left immediately upon placing the order and it was waiting when he arrived. I ordered the vegetables with chicken while my husband ordered a large chicken lo mein, easy on the oil. My husband absolutely inhaled his noodles because he was very hungry. I really enjoyed mine because I had been traveling all day and was needing some vegetables in my system. Overall, I found that the food still had a bit too much oil and was largely unseasoned. The vegetable mix was okay but I do not like corn or celery added to my stir-fry. Zucchini, asparagus or some type of leafy green would be a better option. Although I like simple dishes, I do like them well prepared with a variety of fresh and interesting vegetables which would help to elevate the dish. The woman on the other end of the phone that took my order had all the charm of a prison inmate. Pretty quick turnaround on the delivery, delivery guy came to my room (some dont) and my food SMELLED pretty good. I said "smelled", because I couldn't eat 2/3 of my meal because there were no utensils in my bag. If you're reading this No.1, it's safe to assume a guy calling from a hotel probably doesn't have utensils or napkins at their disposal. Spring roll was pretty good. I've ordered many times from here because they have one of the best beef and broccoli plates I've ever had. I decided to eat in this time but was immensely disappointed at the service provided. My expectations of No 1 Chinese are to be met that the food is delivered timely and the food is consistent...I'm not expecting outrageously awesome Chinese cuisine. With that said, although the lady answering the phone does not, in fact have much of a personality, as mentioned in previous reviews, she has never screwed up my order and she is quite efficient... My daughter ordered dinner from here tonight. It was $10.87. It was below the minimum for delivery, so I went to pick it up. The owner lady ran my credit card and handed me the receipt to sign. I signed it and handed it back to her and did not leave a tip, because they didn't do anything out of the ordinary to deserve a tip. She showed me her copy of the receipt that was $13.87. She automatically put a $3.00 tip in that I had to write in on my receipt. I understand if you have employees working there for tips, but this lady is the owner and gave herself a $3.00. The food is average, it's just convenient. She's pretty rude on the phone. We'll never go back there again. Not even sure how she came up with $3.00 on $10.87. That's at 27% tip?!?! read more
