    24. Mixed Vegetables with Garlic Sauce
    Justin G.

On Sunday, October 29th, 2023, I got food at a take-out Chinese restaurant in Wilmington. This restaurant had excellent food. It was the New York style Chinese food that I strongly enjoy. The pork egg rolls were huge, and they were filled with cabbage and ground pork. The dumplings were excellent as well. They were large, filled with ground pork, and had a thick wrapper. The entrees were excellent as well. I got mixed vegetables in garlic sauce, chicken with broccoli, General Tso's tofu, shrimp with lobster sauce, & roast pork fried rice. All of them were excellent. The roast pork was prepared properly. The shrimp were good, and given in generous amounts. The tofu was coated and fried perfectly. The vegetables were fresh and excellent. There was no celery, which is a vegetable that I loathe. Instead, I had broccoli, pea-pods, water chestnuts, baby corn, carrots, and peas. Those are all vegetables that I like. I may have had this restaurant once, but it's the best Chinese food I had since eating at Mei Mei (Somerset, New Jersey) in October 2020. The food was prepared very quickly and efficiently, making the service great. The restaurant itself is just a tiny take-out place with no indoor seating.

Called in for a delivery order. Spent 35.00. The egg foo young was burnt and my chicken chow mein had no flavor. I called and complained about the burnt egg foo young. They did send a replacement meal but I was worse than the first one. 35.00 down the drain

This is the sweet and sour chicken- over cooked and 1 small packet of duck sauce, oh and apparently no fried rice!

I ordered takeout today...Sweet and sour chicken. It arrived and was so over cooked, it was thrown in the trash. It did not arrive with fried rice and I received one small packet of duck sauce. Very disappointed! I called the restaurant and the lady that answered said " what do you want my to do! " If I could give zero (0) star, I would.

Been going to this place for years now, and they have some of the best takeout in town. Today they have lost a customer, though. They were already a little pricey in the past but recently went up on their prices AGAIN. A meal for two people shouldn't be over $40 for takeout....

Sesame chicken with plain fried rice and cheese wonton
    Emily S.

While on vacation, I experienced a craving for the comfort of American Chinese food. Given Wilmington's numerous choices, I asked my hotel's front desk for a recommendation, and they suggested Chopstix. I placed my order online, which was a surprisingly simple process, and my order arrived within 20 minutes, still piping hot. My sesame chicken was perfectly seasoned and tender, and it had the perfect amount of sauce. My fried rice, which I ordered plain, was delicious. The cheese wontons were equally tasty, though they could've been fried a bit harder (my only quasi-"complaint"). The portion sizes were also on point. I couldn't even finish my meal. Worth mentioning is the fact that you earn a coupon for free food when you order a certain dollar amount. I was given free egg drop soup with my order, and it was a welcome addition! Overall, it was a wonderful and satisfying experience, and I highly suggest giving this place a shot! I did, and I wasn't disappointed. It's in the top five Chinese takeout places I've ever tried, and that's high praise!

Once entering I had to wait to be seated as the hostess was overwhelmed with the couple before me. She was very nice once it came my turn. I opted to sit on the patio since it was a beautiful evening. The bar seemed crowded with what appeared to be locals. There were only a few of us on the patio but it filled up as I was leaving after a delightful meal. Love the mix of old seaside decor and the memorabilia. This place has history. Now for the food. I had to have the She crab soup as that is one of the things the place is known for. It was tasty. Not a lot of experience with this style soup but I enjoyed it almost as much as I would have a nice bisque. The side salad was a bit small but typical mix and the blue cheese was good but needed more of it. (More on that later) I opted for water tonight as I was trying to behave but they do have a full bar and a good wine list. The waitress was very knowledgeable and when I told her I was going to try one of the fresh catches Carolina style she recommended the Drum. It was very tasty. I would have loved to have more of the Carolina topping to sop up with the nice biscuits they brought out. The Mac and Cheese was also tasty. The vegetable tonight was green beans so that didn't sound very exciting so opted for the Mac. Probably not the healthiest choice but was tastier in my humble opinion. Great experience food wise and my poor server needs a medal or something. She was attempting to cover the bar area and the patio by herself. She was literally running trying to make it all work. She was great but it does appear they need to hire a few more folks to help.

It's sort of Italian and sort of steak and sort of a little bit of everything. Really clean, strait forward , reasonable menu, nice ambience. It feels kind of high end but the pricing is definitely mid range. I selected the tomato basil soup as my appetizer. It came with a nice toasted crustini. It was a really good soup. It tasted fresh. It had a lot of body to it like, maybe they did the tomatoes here in the house from fresh. It was definitely tomato. The basil was kind in the background, but it was a true red sauce. It was almost tomato paste or tomato sauce flavor. I would've not complained if they given it to me over a bit of penne.. It had a really nice flavor on it not too sweet not too acidic really a very good soup. It came out in a footed coffee cup so you're getting about one cup of soup. The main course was the broiled seafood platter. It was anchored by a large piece of mahi-mahi, that was amazingly well prepared, firm and tasty. To the side of that was a wonderful crabcake, one of the best I've had anywhere and definitely the best in the Carolinas. It did not have too much breading and it had a wonderful texture with lots of good crab flavor. Drizzled across all of this were scallops and shrimp. The shrimp were a little overcooked if you asked me. The scallops were sweet and perfect and everything you would want them to be. The side that comes with this is their crab fries which essentially our beer battered french fries dusted with old bay seasoning. If you've ever had the crab fries at the Philadelphia, ballpark, this is the way they do it. For dessert, I ordered the lemon cello mascarpone cake. It comes drizzled with raspberry sauce. I had visions of lemon curd, and what I got was really good and really lemonade and good cake. But it's not a very big slice. I know about the weight staff. I don't know if they're all good, but mine was exceptional and lovely to talk with. The place was very busy. It had a nice vibe to it, it could've been in South Beach or Miami or Los Angeles, not that it was over over the top just that it was very clean and nice and well done. This is a professional restaurant not some amateur attempt. I recommend it.

The store was clean, and the staff was exceptionally helpful. The meal included: - 3 lbs. Large Shrimp - 1 lb. Andouille Sausage - 8 Pieces of Sweet Corn - 10-12 Red Bliss Potatoes - Homemade Seasoning - 5 containers of Cocktail Sauce - Paper tablecloth (also used for cleaning up) - Instruction card I also ordered the following additions: - Extra Corn and Potatoes for $6. 00 - 2 dozen Little Neck Clams for $20. 00 - 1/2 pound Andouille Sausage for $6. 50 - 1 pound Kielbasa Sausage for $13. 00 - 2 Lobster Tails for $30. 00 The meal preparation was easy, involving just a few steps. First, remove the protein and add wine, beer, or water. Second, steam the vegetables for 30 to 40 minutes, depending on your stove. Third, add the protein back with spices and cook for an additional 7 to 9 minutes. Lastly, drain and serve a delicious meal. Cleanup is simple; roll up all the shells in the paper tablecloth, put them back in the can, and you're done. One small criticism I have is about how the add-ons are delivered. Only the lobster tails and clams were in separate packaging; the extra vegetables and sausage were mixed in with the regular ingredients. Making it difficult to verify if you got all you ordered. I usually don't give a five-star rating on the first visit, but in this case, everything they promised was true. We enjoyed a delicious meal that was easy to cook and could be enjoyed by people who don't like shellfish (I would prepare separate meals for them). I plan to order from them periodically and recommend that you do too.

Lives up to its review **…read more we were originally on our way to a place Perla for oysters, our friend suggested it. I was looking at near by restaurants and decided to try seabird instead - as we wanted to come to the boardwalk anyways. I am so glad we changed our route to seabird. Venue: quite quaint than I thought but it is elegantly and uniquely presented. Food: ordered tuna crudo, short rib burger, eggs Benedict and of course the oysters. We loved every plate ordered. First oyster, super fresh, clean and exactly the type of oysters we are looking for. The condiments were made fresh and complimented the oysters very well. Burger was good- tender meat and seasoned well; this plate was ordered for my teen son- he said it was good but not worth $25 for a burger. Sturgeon eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection - perhaps one salt sprinkle away from absolute perfection but that's why the table salt is for. The shaved dill pickle it came with complimented The richness of the Benedict. The star of the show today for us the tuna crudo - oh my! What a complex taste - sweet, salty, savory, tangy, creamy and fresh- the savory tuna meets the sweet watermelon, fresh cucumber- spicy pepper with amazing watermelon cream dressing. I wanted to lick the whole sauce off the plate. Also ordered strawberry brownie icecream and I was in love! Creamy- not too rich or sweet - refreshing and perfect all in all, we all loved every bite. Service: exceptional service from entering the door to exiting. Our server was amazing. We are definitely coming back and recommending it to the friend who recommended us Perla

The funny part? The kitchen initially sent out the shrimp dish... without the shrimp. We had to ask for them to bring the missing shrimp, which they quickly corrected. I couldn't help but imagine Chef Gordon Ramsay standing in the kitchen shouting, "You served the shrimp dish without any shrimp, you muppet!" That alone was worth a chuckle. We sat at the bar, where service is usually outstanding. This time the bartender was clearly overwhelmed and stretched thin, so things moved a little slower than normal. Even so, everyone remained professional and friendly. Chef Dean Neff has set a very high standard here, and it's easy to understand why Seabird has received so much recognition and James Beard attention over the years. The food quality, creativity, and consistency continue to make it one of our favorite spots in Wilmington. A missing shrimp on a shrimp dish and slower-than-usual bar service keep this from being a perfect score, but neither issue was enough to spoil the meal.
