Terrible service I did curbside. I got a text on my way there saying my food was ready. Text them here when I got there sat there for 15 minutes. Nobody brought nothing out went inside. There was not one customer in there. My bag was just sitting there and nobody was gonna bring my food out terrible not one person said anything to me. Chopt. Home of the $30 salad. Okay, not literally but close enough to make me wonder why I didn't get in on the ground floor of this holistic hustle. Their salads are terrific with all the usual new age suspects available for your lunchtime harmony... vegan concoctions called Bliss and Blast infused with enough Kale, fiber and protein to keep your enthusiastic colon permanently pinned to DEFCON 1. Upon walking in, you get general sense for cleanliness inside the store. The staff greet you as soon as eye contact is made. The food selection was very vibrant. So many colors of freshness to pick from! You will have to come inside the store to truly understand that previous sentence. I order a chicken tinga, and it was very flavorful. I recommend, if it's your first go around. Added bonus: they have a patio, so lunch in the summer should be amazing. Bathrooms were also an added bonus. The salads and bowls are decent, over priced. My biggest issue is that without fail they have NEVER brought my order out to me when I've done curbside ordering. I've tried calling and no one answers and when you walk in there's usually someone just standing around. I like to use curbside when I have my two little babies in the car and it's a shame they offer this and then don't deliver on it. read more

I was in the mood for a Greek salad but their version was disappointing. It only had a sprinkling of feta cheese and thinly sliced black olives. It had a lot of chickpeas and pita chips which aren't customary ingredients in Greek salads (but they probably are cheaper than traditional ingredients) to bulk up the salad. It was sort of good for what it was but it wasn't a real Greek salad and the more I think about it I wouldn't go back. It was a cheap version of Greek salad but it wasn't cheap. read more

Chopt is a new assembly line eatery in the Village @ Newtown Shopping Center, close by Iron City, Bombas, Mod Pizza, Crumble and Chipotle Mexican Grill. Its specialty is salads of all makes and models produced before your eyes as you follow your salad assembler down the counter, and you select ingredients that are layered into a biodegradable bowl. Everything appears fresh and there are more options than you can shake a stick at. My warm bowl Asian Chicken Salad was bigger then I could consume by half, and although loaded with greens and whites and a few purples and reds, and slathered with an appropriate Asian Gingery dressing, there really was little complexity to the creation. It felt healthy eating it, but lacked interest. Too, the single slice of white (sourdough?) was past its prime and was on the slow road to stale. Service was pleasant and minimally interactive as various choices were offered and selections made. The building of the salad was actually more entertaining than the eating. Which brings me to a general observation of this Build Your Own fad in fast casual dining. Each of the restaurants mentioned above aside from Iron Hill and Bombas has the same assembly line concept. Not much originality and a lot of copycatting. It works for some, but not for others. Same goes for the customer who goes along for the ride and follows a stream of customers picking out what they want, that is, if they know enough about salads to understand all their alternatives. I sure didn't. This "Chipotilization" of food service isn't meant to become universal to all forms of cuisine, and has a somewhat dehumanizing quality to it, as the workers busily move along adding ingredients , but seldom look up to make eye contact. And, for all its supposed individuality, the reality is quite the opposite. You still get an industrialized version of a meal, without the benefit of an actual chef supervising the proceedings to guarantee quality. Nothing personal to this Chop't, but it just doesn't float my boat. Nor do the other assembly line joints. This fad is wearing thin. read more

Where to begin. Mexican chicken soup had too much spice and salt. The Palm Beach salad had no flavor, whatsoever. The shrimp was poorly seasoned but cooked well, but there wasn't much of it. The Spicy Samona Ceasar salad was not very spicy. The chicken was scarce and rubbery. I've had much better at other places. Dressings all seemed to be in the bottom. The location is very clean. Staff was nice and helpful. That said, I'd try it again. Hopefully with better results. read more

Soo the reviews of this place are bad but if you read the bad ones it's really just some unhappy chronic complainers. Not saying that what they're talking about isn't entirely valid but maybe a tad exaggerated. Let's start with the first impressions- you walk in and honestly you can't tell where to go , there's a menu by the door that suggests you order ahead (which we chose to do) but I guess you can also go to the counter. We sat down with the paper menu which came with a QR code so we could order ahead. When we sat down the table had trash and pieces of lettuce and the floor also had trash- the entire time we were there not a single employee left Tom behind the counter to clean any of the tables even after guests had dined at them. So don't expect it to be super clean. The menu is a tad confusing and I'm not really sure how they price out the build your own. You can make swaps though for any of the pre made options which is what I did. I ordered the Mediterranean bowl and swapped the tahini dressing for tzatziki which I didn't even get on my bowl and I swapped the chickpeas for the pickled onions which were so good . The cost of the bowl with tax was about $12.42 - is it worth it ? Ehh . I did get a lot of chicken unlike the other unhappy reviewer and it was all fresh and tasted good however the bowl is not filled and as others have mentioned it does not look anything like the bowls in the photos. Now there was an employee eating lunch behind us - her bowl looked like the photos so it's nice to see that the employees indulge and get better food proportions than the customers. There was no option to say to go or takeout so it all came wrapped to go however they didn't put utensils inside nor do they cut your wrap. The bread it comes with is good but plain no option to add butter or anything. No employees talked to us or greeted us even asked if it was our first time - with this being so nice I was expecting at least a "hello" or "have you been here before". With all that being said , will I be back? Certainly - the food quality is good and it's very tasty and I enjoy the overall concept. Will this place ever wow me ? No. Is it worth the money? Ehh. It's a fast casual dining establishment with inattentive employees - assuming they train the staff better to ya know keep at least the place clean - I'll come back. Time for an update. After my first experience with Chopt a member of their customer service team reached out and gave me a credit for the full amount of what I paid during my disappointing first visit. That was much appreciated. A few weeks later I decided to give them a second chance and use the credit. My coworker and I each ordered different salads that came with chicken. This time the overall portion was larger, but once again the pieces of chicken were few and far between. We decided to return to the restaurant and either request a refund or for them to add more chicken. A man came out and after explaining to him our issue, he told me that they use "1/4 cup of chicken" per salad. Before I had a chance to reply, he offered to add more chicken to our salads. We accepted the offer. Had he not done that, my reply would have been, "There isn't even 1/4 cup and these salads and furthermore why do the pictures on the website show FAR more chicken than "1/4 cup?" What is happening here is akin to "bait and switch." The website is baiting new customers in with pictures of large, delicious looking salads with plenty of large pieces of your protein of choice, but what you're actually getting at the restaurant is far less and apparently that is by design. Once we had the additional chicken, the salad was satisfying. The flavors are good. The chicken could be seasoned and browned more. Seems like it either boiled or baked rather than seared on a flat-top. They also skimped on the avocado despite charging extra for it, but I let that one go. The gentlemen who offered to add more chicken to the salads was very nice and also gave us complimentary cookies for our inconvenience. That was appreciated as well. All this being said, I won't be coming back until I get some indication from word-of-mouth or reviews that they have changed their ways. read more

I am currently eating my salad here at the adorable teal table on the outdoor patio and couldn't be happier. They also play reggae music in the background which i LOVE. Its cute, its trendy. The vibes are just immaculate. Important to note: im a complete health/gym junkie and prefer everything healthy/plain. With that being said, theres such a VARIETY of options here for any diet. I had been wanting to try Chopt since they opened in Newtown and finally got the chance today. I met my son there for lunch. I do not mind paying a little more, as long as the food is worth it. This was not, I'm my opinion worth the 30 ish dollars I paid for two salads and two cans of soda. My son ordered the crispy chicken ranch with no onion or carrots. The girl forgot and dumped the little cup of onions onto the salad. When we reminded her no onions, she began picking the onions out with her hands. My son is very polite so he let it go but after picking through half of his salad and finding random onion pieces, he stopped eating. I got the Cobb salad. I could barely find the chicken. Literally tons of salad and you have to pick through to find the toppings. The kicker to this experience was that my can of Diet Coke was lukewarm. No big deal, I just wanted ice. I went up to the counter and explained the soda was not cold and asked for a cup of ice. The young lady went to had my the cup I assume they give you when you order a lemonade or iced tea. The ( I am assuming) manager said something and the girl instead tried to hand me this little Dixie cup looking cup. I said please, I don't mind paying, can I have the regular sized cup for my ice please? She rang me up- it was over 4$!!!!!! This was my second time at a Chopt and I still love it! I used the app to order and liked the customization options it provided. I only waited about 30 seconds for someone to pull out of a parking spot right in front. I was A few minutes early so my salad wasn't quite ready but there was a comfortable place to sit while waiting. The expediter was friendly while packing up my salad and it was made to order. I like the idea of this place, but the inconsistency in the accuracy of the order is frustrating. More than once, items in my salad that I indicated to be omitted are included. I'm not sure if it is because the workers don't take pride in their work or don't care. This isn't a cheap place, so when orders are wrong and inedible as a result, it is a waste of money. I won't go here anymore because I never know what I'm going to get and it is too expensive to chance it. I had to throw out a salad that was drenched in dressing and included ingredients I omitted for health reasons. It is a disappointment. I'm going to give this a full-on five, but I'm biased toward all things green and plant based! I was very impressed with the timeliness of my order, the freshness of the greens, the smiles and welcoming attitude of the obviously busy staff, and the cleanliness and orderliness of the establishment on their opening day! Kudos to the managerial team. More to the point, my and my dining partner's salads were excellent. They are chock full of nutrition, taste, and convenience. I love not having to chop up the salad myself, and it's so much tastier with the dressing mixed in (light, medium or heavy, according to your preference). Their online ordering system was a breeze and frankly they're good with being upfront with the caloric and nutritional content of the meals. There are a bevy of salads from which to choose. I did the special Spicy Sonoma Salad and my DP did the classic Cobb Salad. I spiced up my Sonoma with some additional jalapeños because why not? We both loved our meals. In fact, I can't believe I'm saying this, but they were better than...sweetgreen. Tastier, more filling, and better mixed. Perhaps it's an early glow but we'll see if it can continue. Bonus points for using all compostable but still highly functional materials in their packaging and utensils. read more

I should have known that it would be horrible as soon as the young person measured a mouthful of chicken with a scoop measurer. The dressing stayed with me all night with a Horrible aftertaste and on top of everything it was $28 for two salads. The drinks are so bland that you feel like you're drinking water. I don't think anyone there was over 18 and it definitely showed. This place is a hot yoga instructor's wet dream. Let's work our way from the outside in, shall we? To begin the name "chopt" perfectly matches the branding of every other restaurant that puts an unnecessary spin on some food. Not only is the name just a weirdly spelled adjective but it's written in all lowercase on the side of the building with a period at the end. Grow up. I walk into this establishment and quickly realize it's like the chipotle of salads. My therapist really wants me to lose some flab, so the abundance of healthy options was nice. When I say it was like chipotle, it wasn't like that at all. The menu was, in many ways, like my ex-wife Shelissa: seemingly straightforward at first glance but underwhelming in the heat of the moment. Although the food itself was just good enough to make you forget that there was a chipotle 2 stores away, the atmosphere was refreshingly ambient. Got a take out salad from the new Chopt in Newtown. A crispy chicken Caesar salad. Huge bowl with nicely chopped salad, giving it a pleasure to eat. For any Seinfeld fans out there, Elaine would love this Big Salad. I will try to include my picture which shows a half eaten bowl with plenty left over to snack on.
