Wife and I went there tonight for my birthday and everything was excellent. I have been coming to this place every year for my Birthday since they came to Newtown. We never had a bad meal and our server Sandy who was very attentive made several recommendations for my wife who has celiac. She also recommended the halibut which was very good. My only issue was when I ordered an oyster shooter. They served the oyster on an ice dish with a juice glass with the Bloody Mary. I added the oyster and when I attempted to drink the shot it was impossible to drink the shot and get to the oyster. I had many of oyster and shrimp shooters at different places & they all were served in an oversized shot glass. read more

We ate outside on their patio on a warm summer night, which was a nice option, but the dining room looked modern and nicely decorated. The food was fresh and well prepared. We've always enjoyed fresh seafood and excellent drinks here, and ambience in one room rises above the usual shopping center sterility. But a wow surprise was the worthy jazz trio playing from 6:00 onward -- now every Thursday, we're told. We've lived in Central Bucks for decades and love it, but this is the sort of experience we've missed from bygone urban living. Rounding things off were unusually considerate service, along with excellent drinks/wine and enjoyable food (though both our main fish dishes were slightly overcooked, and fish should never be overcooked because it breaks down the cellular structure). In all, an exceptionally enjoyable evening which we plan on repeating soon. Four stars for our main dishes, five for everything else. read more

When I saw how busy the parking lot was I felt I was in for a great meal. I and my family went on a Thursday night. We were brought a small basket of white bread, no hot rolls or variety. I ordered a baked potato that was more steamed than baked and not cooked through. It was accompanied by one foil wrapped slab of butter. I was looking forward to some succulent sea scallops. Our server greeted us quickly after being seated. She was knowledgeable about the food and drink menus. She was attentive and friendly. To start, the spicy margarita was refreshing and had a nice tang to it. The mussels app had very large, fresh mussels in a delicious garlic butter. The sauce would have been good with some bread for sure. The fried shrimp were huge and you receive a good portion of them. The breading was crispy and adhered to the shrimp nicely. The cocktail sauce had a nice bite to it. The risotto dish had nicely cooked scallops, seared on the outside and soft on the inside. The shrimp were also well cooked. The pea risotto was good, but could have used more seasoning. To finish the meal, we shared the Tres Leche cake. It was creamy and fresh as well. Overall, the dishes we tried were good. Drove by the blue point grill in Newtown quite often and decided to try it 9/26/25. Upon arriving we were greeted by a very nice bubbly hostess who sat us right away because we made reservations. Nice low lighting, definitely a seafood atmosphere. Our waiter Colt introduced himself and wow he was so nice, professional and answered every question we had. What an asset to this place. Andrea started off with a flight expresso martini's and I had an old fashion. Both delicious. Appetizer was crab and street corn salad with tortilla chips. It's served cold and it was very fresh. Good enough to share. I ordered the North American corvina and a bowl of NE clam chowder. Andrea had the Black Sea bass Milanese. The chowder came out and it was filled with clams and creamy. However it did lack taste. Good but nothing to write home to mom about. The main course came and it was so fresh and delicious. Decent portions as well. For desert we shared a banana foster pudding which was so good it should be illegal to serve. Total bill $200 without tip. Great job by the staff very nice place to dine. Highly recommend. We had a great dinner in Newtown on Saturday. Everyone loved the food and the service. Shawn, our waitress was phenominal. We were there for my Birthday and when we left I had left behind a Birthday gift I had received. I went back the next day and spoke with Brian, the manager. He said they could not find it after looking everywhere and on the video feed. I left disaappointed. By the time I got home, Brian called to say that they thought the gift had been thrown out and he and some other employess found it in the garabage that had not been taken yet. I will pick it up today, greatfully. I just want to thank Brian for "dumpster diving" to find my gift which I so thoughtlessly left behind. Paired with four different wines. We liked them all clean, cold and fresh. We ordered another dozen of our two favs. The Great White from Massachusetts and the West Passage from RI. Quite delicious. Given I like fish, I was looking forward to my visit to Blue Point Grill in Newton. Upon entering, I found the ambience to be inviting. The blue and white colors, open kitchen, raw bar, and well trained, friendly staff set the tone for an extraordinary evening. We started with a house salad that the waitress said is shareable. When brought to the table we each had a plated salad. I'd be remiss not to mention the house dressing which was delicious. In addition, we went with grilled calamari that was prepared in a garlic olive oil. The calamari was tender and the garlic olive oil was so good we sopped it up with bread. For entrees, I had the mixed grill which on this night was Chilean Sea Bass and Artic Char. Both were incredible. For my side I had French fries which were among the best I've had anywhere. My entree came with coleslaw that was right on point. My dinner partner had lemon sole with a crab stuffing and she could not stop raving about her dish. For her side she had wild rice and coleslaw. For dessert we split the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. This was a perfect meal. Our waitress was top notch. And the manager stopped by the table to introduce herself. We were dining about every month or so since September. The "now" I am referring to below is in regards to this past weekends experience. Food - was grade "A", now a "C". Service - was a "C", now "F" Management - was a "B", now "D". Each time we go the piece of fish gets smaller, but the price increases?!? I noticed the price change all the time. We came in this past weekend for a late Valentines Day. This was the worst experience and we will not be back. It is evident whom ever is running this restaurant has no clue what they are doing to adhere to the needs of the customer. I heard the man in the kitchen yell at a server, because we asked for something served last month and he wouldn't accomdate us. RIDICULOUS. We eventually ordered food that really wasn't what I wanted. The specials were none existent and very boring. We always enjoyed coming in on the weekend for a "new" special dish. Server tells me the chef is no longer there. That would explain the inconsistency. Very sad. Servers - are always not existent after the take your order. I always see servers standing around doing nothing. This I have seen on every occasion we were there. This last time it was the worst. I felt bad when we were there weeks ago. A different Server came over to bring our entrees and he had to clear the table first. Where was the server....? Not worried about the tables. Then shows up with the check. What's the point of having and tiping a Server that doesn't serve me. My gratuity should go the Server that clean and brought me our meal, not the Server that was too busy to wait on us. I have never seen this kind of atmosphere where the server is obsolete. Management - walks around and greets us, then we never see her again or she is hanging with the servers dong nothing as well. Overall the quality of the food went down, since we were there 3 weeks ago. Smaller portions, higher price, poor quality. Service was variable for good food. Now its not even worth having dinner there. I didn't expect to spend over $200 for the 2 of us and leave hungry. Sorry you lost our business. Today my wife and I chose the Blue Point Grill in Newtown, which recently opened for business. At the front desk, we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who seated us within a few minutes. The ambiance of the venue was clean, with seating indoor or outdoor. Our server quickly came to our table and described the menu. We chose crab cakes, New England Clam Chowder, and a fresh salad with warm goat cheese. Our dinner was delicious, cooked to perfection, and the presentation was mouth watering. They are all about the customer experience. One of the managers swung by to check on our dinner and was very concerned that all was well. And it certainly was. Dishes are prepared with care. The grilled Portuguese octopus appetizer is a must...tender, meaty, garlicky and lemony. The dish's olive oil is perfect for bread dipping, We had the shrimp and crawfish etouffee which is full of flavor and prepared like a seafood stew, with added mussels and andouille sausage. Hearty, generous portion. We also had the highly recommended miso glazed black cod with a lime sauce....delicate, buttery, carefully prepared. Just marvelous. When ordering a meal with a baked potato, it should come out of the kitchen cooked thoroughly. It should not be hard and undercooked. I sent mine back, they brought out another, which also was not thoroughly cooked through. When you order cocktail sauce for your crab cakes, you should not get tartar sauce. There are no excuses for these mistakes. We were there for what I call an early dinner at 5pm. So it was not overly crowded, for the kitchen to make the mistakes. The crab cakes were very good, the shrimp was very good. The thimble size of coleslaw was ridiculous, along with the thimble size of sour cream. The shrimp stuffed with crab meat was good, but two for $14.00 was way too high of a price. Had there been three or even four, that price point would be acceptable. It was our first time trying this restaurant and we will not be returning. For an upscale restaurant, we expected better. The service was good, in that they "tried" to rectify the mistakes. $114.00 for a meal for two. Love the garlic smashed potatoes and the creamy sauce with the crab cakes. Started with Buffalo calamari which was average. Then had the black miso cod with lime (special) - delicious! This was excellent. I had sweet potato fries with mustard dressing on the side. Had a Pinot noir which was good. Ended with chocolate lava cake. I really enjoyed my decaf coffee. To me, the star of the meal was the cod - that plus service and ambiance is why I'm giving it 5 stars. We tried this place a few months after it opened and I found it to be insanely overpriced, with bad food. Well, we tried it again last night and it hasn't changed a bit. The server was lovely. The place is super-noisy, due to high ceilings. There was no music to soften the hard edges. The cocktail I ordered was very weak but tasted good. (I recommend Bowman's if you want to spend the same $ for one drink but really get 2. Theirs are delicious and strong.) The bread was cold and too mushy to allow for the spreading of the hard, cold, butter. It disintegrated. One of my pet peeves is when a restaurant tries to present itself as a fine dining establishment but then serves butter in those hard, cold little gold-wrapped nuggets that get a diner's hands all greasy when they try to open them and spread the unspreadable butter. Not cool!! There are DINERS that serve butter soft and in small ramekins, for God's sake! I got the jumbo shrimp. They tasted good but very plain. I expected more of a recipe, more flavor, for $32. The ginormous baked potato was cold when I was served. (With one more little gold butter packet to unwrap. ONE butter packet, for a baked potato the size of an eggplant.) It also came with the tiniest ramekin of sour cream with tiny specks of chive on top. Like 1/4 the amount you would be served with a potato at Outback Steakhouse. Chintzy.) I asked if I could get a new, hot, baked potato. The server quickly brought one. It was barely warm. Couldn't even melt the contents of the new butter packet. My partner had the tilapia with butter and caper sauce. He liked it. He got the side salad and said the balsamic dressing tasted weird, so he didn't eat it. The server did not ask if there was anything wrong with it and he just let it go, as he is dieting and didn't want a potato or rice side. The Cole slaw - in case you don't like horseradish - has horseradish in it. Just a warning. But the worst part of this dinner, which, with tip, cost us more than $110 (!!!), was by far the dessert. The crème brûlée pound cake. We got it to go and it was packaged with each kind of berry, a few of each, in separate tiny plastic takeout container (why? I do not know) and another container, of cream. The top of the slice had been covered with sugar and toasted like the top of a crème brûlée, so it looked pretty. It was still warm when we got home. We could barely cut it with a fork, it was so hard and tough! Like a rock! Dry and hard and did not taste good at all. Ten dollars into the garbage. I took a picture of just the cake. I guess they give you cream to pour over it because it's so dry? Anyway, needless to say, we will not be going back. If you have limitless funds for dining out, don't expect much and want oysters in Newtown, I guess this is your place. But there are too many other places in town to choose from now to spend crazy $$$ on this kind of night out. My husband had iced tea. We each had one of the less expensive menu choices as our entree, as the meal was given as a gift to us from a relative. (We did not tell her how bad it was.) Very, very disappointing. read more

Making a reservation was easy - they had a table for us ready and set! Our server was very pleasant, cheerful, accommodating... appetizer served before (not with) our entrees. The coconut shrimp was overcooked - but frying shrimp in PA seems to be a challenge (Pro Tip: shrimp are not "wings"). My swordfish entree was equally overcooked (more like a pork chop from 1979)... so while the service and atmosphere was great - the handling of fresh seafood was sub-par. Sorry folks - we will be back to try again - but only after you have time to be gentler with your theme. read more

Just went to Blue Point Grill (Newtown) for the first time. The atmosphere was nice, and the service was great (although they forgot our appetizer... which worked out fine as we were ultimately full from our dinner!). Their variety of seafood was really good, and our fish was cooked beautifully! My husband declared their oysters the best he'd ever had. I will definitely recommend this place. Now, here it comes (and not necessarily a complaint) ... BUT... the only thing that I wish they did differently was how each fish is prepared. First, under the seafood section, the menu gave no indication of what kind of meal you would be getting. Yes, you knew what kind of fish... but, not how it would be prepared. The menu simply and only lists the fish names... arctic char, salmon, swordfish, etc. So, I had to ask a lot of questions! Yes, there was a blackened fish and, yes, you could get fish simply grilled. But, all of the other seafood dishes that I asked about came with either a lemon butter sauce or a lemon butter caper sauce. That's it. Maybe I should have asked what didn't come with a lemon butter sauce. Maybe there were other options that weren't mentioned to me and certainly weren't obvious on the menu. I really wish they would offer a variety of sauces/preparations for the seafood. And, if possible, make it MY choice... which would be fun. What about a pesto sauce, cilantro sauce, ginger glaze, dill sauce, Thai coconut curry sauce, something Mediterranean... you get the idea. A lemon butter sauce is great... and I LOVE capers... but, I don't want it all the time. We used to live in Princeton and occasionally ate at the OG Blue Point there -- it was fabulous. We have now eaten twice at the recently opened Newtown location. Sadly, it met neither our expectations based on prior experience nor any general expectations for a restaurant at this price point. I had trout the first time which was underwhelming. Meh texture, bland flavor. I had scallops the second time which were better but still nothing special. I dont remember the dishes my husband had, but his conclusions were the same. There seems to be an active bar scene for overdone 50-somethings who like to talk loudly about their fancy cars and international vacations, then extoll the virtues of humility and character. Did I mention loudly? The bar menu offers some interesting cocktails but the execution varies from bartender to bartender. Wont be back. read more
