    Mediterranean bowl
    Rumit P.

The line was very long at 12:45pm today, Monday, but moved quickly. There are plenty of seats inside and most people took their food to go. I ordered one of their new Mediterranean warm bowls with quinoa, chicken, cabbage, tahini, feta, spicy peppers, and cucumber and tomato salad. It was wholly unsatisfactory. The chicken was old and unflavorful, not juicy or fresh. The cabbage was raw and dry and just not appealing, and I normally love cabbage! There was far too much feta. My eyes grew wide when I saw the assembler put an entire fistful in. He forgot to put in the crispy chickpeas, and that is my favorite ingredient! I was hungry so I ate hangrily, contemplating whether to give it another go with a different dish. With so many DC options, not sure I'd rush back.

Decent place for quick lunch, next to Renwick gallery . $9 for a good size bowl of Korean BBQ style : rice, pork, picked veggies ( variety). Mild spicy, fresh. Excellent choice for healthy quick meal.

My floating day & ended up here for lunch. We walked in around 12:15pm, & due to the area & lunch time, it was crowded. Yet the employees in their designated assembly positions kept their flow going perfectly. Rome, was my Guy, who was very attentive to my Vegan order. He swapped out the cutting boards, utensils & of course his gloves. We had a quick ruffage love affair while he prepared my specialized bowl of greenery & goodies: Spinach/Kale, avocado, green apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, red peppers, falafel crumbles. All tossed with a combo of Mexican Goddess & Sweet Smoky Chipotle Vinaigrette dressings, delicious! Per usual, there's enough to save for a later savor, if you don't want soggy greens, get the dressing(s) on the side. Yet, I knew I was going to consume in its entirety within 2 hours, so I had Rome toss it right then & there. Great price, not too long of a wait & friendly employees.

2nd visit to DC (so far) I L O V E T H I S P L A C E The ingredients are super fresh The staff has a good working knowledge of which flavors go well together!! Vegan and vegetarian options are what brought me here to begin with. You can choose from menu salads or create your own. Dressings are mixed in or you can request on the side. If you don't leave here satiated I'm not sure what would get you there. Such nutrient dense foods your body will love you for this. Stop in!!!

Update: The owner/manager reached out to me almost immediately and apologized for the mistake of the local restaurant. She offered to make things right and she made good on her work, and quickly. Their customer care is a class act! Thank you! A co worker of mine had a salad from here yesterday and it looked appetizing. So today I decided to order one and have it delivered to the office. I ordered the kebab Cobb with lemon tahini dressing. I customized the salad to add(and paid for) falafel. There was not one piece of falafel to be found. The salad itself was good, and the delivery was actually early, but I was really looking forward to the falafel. The orders need to be checked and rechecked before leaving the store.

This time was a little different. I had the red dragon roll and I couldn't quite tell it's vegan and not actual dragon roll of some sort. And then I also tried the thousand layer potatoes, which was nice, but I don't know if I liked it that much. And I got the Unagi eggplant which was really really good. I also really like eggplant at baseline. Other people got the sprig and run drink (it's under free spirits and it's a mocktail) and they loved it. Two of my friends got the udon and mushroom - they loved it (clean bowls). So I enjoyed it but only for special occasions. It's not very affordable to come to Planta regularly you see (or maybe I just need to have a better paying gig hahah) ... a roll and a nigiri plate came out to be over $30 ... which is somewhat typical in the expensive city of DC. In the end, we all concluded Planta Bethesda has more options whereas this one is more Asian fusion type of food (which I love). But I'm still dreaming of that miso salmon tofu from Planta Bethesda (now a year later? Also higher end prices for me and can't afford to go too often). They do only have two bathroom individual stalls and for some reason it took a while for my friends to use the restroom (she said one person was trying on outfits in there?!) and it can get a little messy in there with the trash bin, but it probably isn't consistently so...

If I could eat &Pizza every day...I would! I mean he#! (heck..lol) why not, their pizzas meet the standards of the USDA food pyramid. I mean despite the calories, I can get all my nutritional needs all met in one place and in one meal: meats, veggies, dairy, fruits, and grains! WHAT!? Holla, if you feel me! LOL. THE VIBE Modern space, friendly helpful staff, and great prices. You walk in and will be immediately greeted. Next, you choose your crust, sauce, veggies, meats and cheese. You can make your own pizza as healthy or extremely indulgent as you'd like. And, I am not kidding....this place keeps it real!! They are very generous on the toppings too. Once satisfied with your choice of toppings, in goes your pizza into a giant commercial-sized 'Easy Bake' Oven for a brief few minutes. Before you know, it is done and ready to be served.! Like every establishment on this planet, you order at the checkout counter unless obviously stated otherwise, which it wasn't. I stood there for a minute looking at the menu before the young man behind the counter gave me a blank look and turned to look at one of this employees. That female employee then told me to go to the opposite side of the shop to order from the ladies working hard behind the glass screen making the pizza. The order sign? Miniscule. Even if you come through the front entrance you would probably miss it. Not only that, the female employee said it like it was OBVIOUS. It's not over yet, after I ordered, I walked over to the pick up spot to wait, thinking that you pay once the pizza is finished. Nope, once again, that same female employee looked at me and said "You done? Then NOW you go pay" dramatically pointing at the checkout counter. Again, like it was obvious, and I'm the idiot for not knowing how things work in their shop. The other employees just stared at me all amused. The cherry on top was when I was receiving the pizza, I ordered the American Honey, which is suppose to come with hot honey, hence the name?? I asked for it at the finishing station where you can ask for toppings like cheese and such, only because I can see that it did not have any on it. I told the first guy, I saw him nod his head, then stand completely still and not do a single thing. So then I asked for parmesan and he finally did something. The whole time he did not say one word to me, and looked like he was dragged here by his mama to work. So in the end, I got a mediocre pepperoni flatbread with nothing special but with a nice BIG side of attitude and horrible customer service. It felt like being in a pretend pizza shop ran by a bunch of teenagers for mandatory volunteer hours. Like, I've been treated better at shady gas station counters. I highly do not recommend coming here and wasting your time and money.

The serving size of the dishes I ordered were medium to small. The service was far less satisfactory than food. I tried the following dishes: 1. Complimentary pita: ~40g per piece. Not salty and paired well with the other dishes. Definitely get some! 2. Lahmacun: The lamb+beef mixture was tasty. It came with 4 pieces. 3. Branzino: ~6oz. The fish was grilled to perfection; juciy tender, and the skin was nicely charred. It was served with freh parsley and seasoned grilled tomato (salt+oregano I think). 4. Imam Bayildi: Half of an eggplant topped with sauteed onions and tomatoes. While itself was pretty normal, it went so well with the Ottoman rice. 5. Ottoman Rice: The true highlight of all the dishes I tried! It was basically Basimati rice cooked with dried apricots, raisins, almonds & pine nuts mix, and seasoned with black currant. Overall it was warm, earthy and lightly smoky. The apricot slices added some delightful sweetness and juiciness to the dish. Should pair well with Labneh, chicken and seafood. But to be honest, I can simply eat this stuff along for a whole meal! 6. Tabbouleh: They went against the traditional recipe by substituting the bulgur with quinoa and added some pomegranate arils. I liked the special texture of quinoa. The sweetness of pomegrante arils also enriched the flavors. However, I had to constantly spit the seeds when enjoying the salad. 7. Kofte: Adana style ground beef patties. Just like what I make at home haha! I ordered it as an add-on to my salad at lunchtime. It came with only 2 pieces which weighed no more than 3oz in total... Despite the delicious food, service was disappointing. The first time, the dinner, was Okay. While my food came out slowly, at least my server was aware of it and asked me how I liked the dishes. The second time, the lunch, was horrible. Even before I was seated, my server made me feel that he was reluctant to serve me, and emphasized that I had to order asap. "Luckily", I had already decided what to order. After I got my dishes, no one in the restaurant asked me if the food was Okay. And at the check, my bill was thrown onto my table. In comparison, the two ladies dining next to me came even after I started eating, but were greeted warmly and were given lots of time to decide what to order; not to mention that the staff gave them lots of suggestions, asked about their dining experience, and even chatted with them about sightseeing in DC, etc. Such discrimitory treatment is really unacceptable.
