Wanted something healthier for lunch and came across Chop't. Basically an assembly line salad place, similar to sweetgreen, where you can choose your own ingredients or one of their pre-determined menu items. I got one of their monthly special plates, which looked like not a lot of food but was beyond filling - I couldn't finish and I'm still feeling full 5 hours later. (It was a kale blend, sweet potato and brussel sprouts combo, and quinoa). The dressing was spicy, so be aware if you're sensitive to heat levels. I tried a Destination Salad called the Melrose with Basil Mint Pesto dressing. Quinoa, cucumbers, avocado, feta cheese, sweet peas and the green leaf lettuce. Nice location, friendly staff, the line is long during lunch but the wait isn't. It was quick. I definitely recommend this place. The serving is big. read more

I had never liked salads until I went to Chop't, not only nutritious in comparison to fast food lunch options but delicious! I still don't particularly love salads, so I ask for the sandwich instead (which is basically a salad rolled into a tortilla wrap, it really helps if you don't like salads and idea of just eating a bowl of leaves). There are tons of different toppings and homemade dressings that are delicious and jazz up the veggies. If you're not familiar with the menu, it might be intimidating your first time (I'd recommend reading it online first) as the line moves very fast and employees keep chopping. I've been to a few locations, and this one does seem to be the most stingy with the proteins. read more

Fresh salad stop in DC. The prices and fair and they move the line along very quickly. The shop is also clean and has comfortable seating. They had a vegan salad option, which I ordered. I enjoyed it very much but it was sooo spicy. And i like spicy foods! I think there were too many jalapeños in it so keep and eye out for that when ordering. read more

This became my favorite restaurant while working at the White House. The staff was ultra friendly -- remembered my name when I would come in. The salad fixings were always totally fresh -- the iceberg lettuce crisp with no brown spots. The staff also worked very efficiently, making my salad quickly and always to my specifications. One time the staff mistakenly put on the wrong dressing-- when I told them they immediately started a new salad and apologized profusely. This is a great, healthy place to eat. Chop't is a great place to grab a huge custom-made salad. They have pretty much everything and the real challenge is to make up your mind by the time you have to order. The line can be long at lunch, but it moves along very quickly. It is a salad factory with plenty of staff working very efficiently. I'm partial to the cobb salad - their seasonal salads are great too. It can be a bit pricey, but eating the entire salad should satisfy the hungriest of patrons. Your salads are wonderful -- they keep me alive. However, when I spend $28 for a salad and tips and request three or four containers of ranch dressing for a large salad (lettuce, chicken (2x), boiled egg, pepperjack cheese, I expect that I should get the amount of containers of salad dressing to cover the salad. When I don't get what I asked for -- only one -- for that huge salad, I couldn't finish it because the rest of the salad was dry and so I put the rest aside, then didn't want any more and threw it away. When I spend $28 on a salad, the last thing I expect to happen is a problem with extra salad dressing with the order. I'm writing this because I usually just take that business off my list to buy from the second time it happens -- I don't want to do that this time, but if it happens again, oh, boy . . . if I have to bring a bottle of ranch dressing to work, then I can just as well grab the lettuce and tomato and make my own salad . . . and if everyone does that, why would they need to order from you? I am in a new office building, it has been a crazy week with the move and today I finally had a chance to get lunch in the new 'hood. Placed an order on the app and walked over to pickup. I totally messed up my order, and the Manager was so very gracious. He sorted things out immediately even though the location was super busy. How lovely! All the staff were so pleasant and friendly. One of my go-tos for lunch as this place is literally next door to my office. Prices are not cheap (most salads are $10+), but they are delicious, and the rotation of the destination salads ensures that they keep the menu interesting. While the line can get long during lunch, they do a decent job of keeping it moving, so I'm generally not in there for longer than 10/15 mins. Used to be good. This place used to be my favorite place to have a great salad. The menus are fantastic, the ingredients are amazing. So what's the problem? The employees who work there. They have become lazy and uncaring. The people who actually make your salads don't care about your salad. They're just mindless robots who are wishing they were someplace else. For example, I just ordered one of my favorites, chicken tinga, the guy didn't even offer to chop my salad! Isn't this place called Chopt?? I was talking to the person next to me and therefore did not notice until it was too late. Now I have HUGE pieces of uncut lettuce and a whole freakin avocado half in my salad bowl. Common guys!! I've eaten at other Chopt location before and they were pretty good. Fresh ingredients and good choices. This location however... Meh, salad chopped so fine that all the wonderful fresh veggies lost much of their appeal. If you go, make sure you tell them to give your salad only a light chop! read more

Chop't itself has awesome salads and I love their dressings. The food is always fresh! I have introduced this place to a lot of salad haters and their minds were changed after their first salad here. This Chop't is probably my favorite out of the whole chain and it's probably because they have such a terrific manager on staff. I always see him out on the floor making sure everything is being taken care of and very accommodating to the customers. The staff are very nice as well and quick. Seating can be very limited during the lunch hour, but people frequently eat fast and leave. Also, it's a very clean restaurant. read more

I'm not really a salad fan. It's just not my thing. However, every once in a while I'm dragged to a salad place. However, I gladly get convinced to come here. I just LOVE their salads when they're put into wraps. First off all, a very nice amount of food, so I usually split with someone. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was everything I love in a salad bar. My favorite is Cobb salads & I was able to add & take out whichever ingredients I wanted. I was out of $24 for two Cobb salads which I didn't think was extremely bad. Everything was fresh & the choice of homemade dressing was great. I'm a regular Chop't customer. I've tried their Sante Fe and Palm Beach salads with their lemon tahini dressing. Ingredients are fresh and dressing is good. I would give this place 4 stars but considering I have to always ask them for the bread that comes with the salad, I have to knock a star off. I don't think I have high standards for service but you should at least offer what is suppose to come with your salad. If I was a daily customer that always didn't want the bread, sure, that's understandable. Wifi was down last time I went and I couldn't use the app to get my Chop't points-credit. read more

Great spot for lunch! They get you in and out quickly, even in the thick of the lunch rush hour. Plus it's entertaining to watch them prepare the salad. The salad itself is absolutely delicious - I had a Cobb Salad - not the most innovative one they had, but I look forward to trying more unique ones next time. The physical menu itself is very helpful, as it is large and easily read while in line. The menu also lists recommended dressings, often one most recommended and one lower calorie dressing. The salads here are okay. The seasonal specialties are generally better than the normal offerings. My main concern is that the amount of protein in the salads is pretty limited. One only has to look at the calorie counts of their salads to see how little there is in them. read more

Recently visited this establishment and honestly I thought "the hype" I heard was overrated, but after trying it myself...I am a fan and can see me eating here at least once a week. The staff is friendly, the food is FRESH, the restaurant is clean, and while a little pricey for a salad, however, considering its downtown near the White House I wasn't surprised, but I'd definitely recommend this restaurant! I don't do 5 star reviews after 1 visit...but they got a 4 star review and again...that's good coming from me, so let's see if they can get up to 5 stars after a few more visits and if so I will edit my post! read more

I come here at least once a week or more. My favorite one is make my own salad, if you order your salad before noon, you get an extra topping for free (instead of 4, you get 5) and it's a lot of food. I never finish it in one meal. Great food for people who want to eat healthy. My second favorite one is the shrimp salad and all of their dressings are the best! read more

So I work on Pennsylvania Ave. and this Chopt is one of my favorite places to grab lunch. Chopt is a great place for people who are looking for something quick and healthy to eat. It is very clean, the people are very friendly, and the food taste fresh and delicious. The only cons I can think of is that the line around lunch time can get VERY long (although it moves fast) and the salad can get very pricey. However I have found my own person solutions for both of these issues. First to avoid the lines I try to go before or after the lunch time rush and when my schedule doesn't permit me to do this I resort to ordering my salad online or over the phone. Both online and over the phone ordering are fast and easy and allow me to circumvent the line and go straight to the cash register to pick up & pay. I also really enjoy ordering online because I feel bad holding up the line as I try to decide what I want, ordering online allows me to take my time and choose my "choppings" and lets me see how much it will cost before I order it. Which brings me to the second point of cost. As many places in DC, these salads can get quite expensive $10+ however if you decide to make your own salad you can pick and choose the toppings which allows you to have some control over the price. In addition, if you order before 12 pm you get an additional free "chopping." Another great way to save is getting a free chopt card which is their reward system that gets you free snacks and free salad/sandwiches. In a nutshell I really enjoy eating here, I am able to get a great tasting salad at a good price (usually $6.50) without wasting my lunch hour in line. read more

Been here twice for lunch so far. The first time, my salad was wayyy over chopped and way too much dressing. The end result was really slimy and watery. The second time I went, the chopper let me determine how much it should be chopped and how much dressing I wanted, which was great. Maybe the first guy was supposed to do that too, but I guess he decided to skip the customer service part. I'm glad the second guy did take the time because the salad was perfect! Only 3 stars because of the lack of consistency in both service and food, but I will go back again. read more

I was a regular, coming here at least once or twice weekly, but I kept getting stuck with one of the employees who acted as if he couldn't give less of a damn--to the extent where he was outright rude. Everybody else was sweet, or at the least somewhat professional. But not this guy. Every action he did involved an eye-roll. A majority of the time he wouldn't even say anything, he would just look at you like you were personally wasting his time for eating there and requesting a salad. At least a third of the time he would get something wrong with the order, which honestly is no big deal, we're only human after all. Except with him, he would barely look at you or show any semblance of acknowledging that he was paying attention to anything you said--yet he would just quickly and confidently whip something up, then get it wrong. His behavior was so over-the-top that I felt like I was personally bothering him. To make matters worse, in the midst of what seemed like adolescent angst (which he isn't), he would start quietly speaking Spanish to his employees in the middle of the order. I don't speak Spanish, so it just felt like the guy was talking crap about the customers while he went through the anguish of making their salad bowls lol Screw that guy, and that guy alone. Like, I get it man, work sucks--but we're all tired of our jobs. Everybody else was great! Especially this one lady who was always an absolute sweetheart! But by the humor of the gods, as fate would have it, I would get stuck with that one guy. Every. single. time. And the only reason why I even bother bringing him up, is because he's been there for as long as I've been in the city. Now I eat elsewhere.
