All I have to say is WOW. The food is phenomenal, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and the staff are so kind. Everything came out very quickly even though they were busy. The savory pancake was such an interesting combo but so delicious. Definitely check this place out if you are in town!

The food was AMAZING. Zach (chef) at Chow has me wanting to move to Bend just so I can have his pancakes, bacon, potatoes, and biscuits and gravy whenever I want. I didn't catch our servers name but she was also amazing and so so helpful. The place is so cute, the food and service was great I LOVED CHOW.

We came for brunch today. We were told 20-30 minutes and waited almost an hour. It was a decent day and we had no-where to be so we were ok waiting. Once we were seated it was outside. We were seated and ordered immediately, staff was friendly and rushing around. I can only assume the kitchen is small because it took a really long time for our food to come out. My Benedict was good but lacking salt and my husbands food was also lacking salt. This place is cute and the food is good but for me not worth the almost 2 hours it took for seating and finally getting our food.

    The Blackstone was exceptional.

The ambiance is giving me single, middle aged quirky auntie's living room. Which is nice in the mornings for breakfast. I really enjoyed how many pickled veggies there were on my Bloody Mary. The blackstone stood out as the bernaise sauce was well done and tasty. The cornmeal crusted tomatoes are underneath the blackstones eggs and bacon, where they belong... haha In all honesty I enjoyed my meal and the Mac and cheese was really tasty hidden gem on a breakfast menu.

Corned Beef Hash 5/5 stars. Super yummy!

Was recommended by a friend. I ordered the corned beef hash and it was to die for!!! The Corned beef was super tender and unlike any corned beef hash I have had. Pro tip, use some of their carrot hot sauce for an added kick!! Service was super friendly and they even brought out a water bowl for our dog. Plenty of outdoor seating.

Seated in a timely manner outside. Bailey was our server. Nice human with a great smile. We noticed the urgency from the young male server. He was great too! Local coffee, amazing corned beef hash included with fresh ingredients. My husband and I spilt that with their French toast with compote. Great pair! Lots of wonderful flavors paired together. Love the artwork and landscape here in their outdoor seating/waiting area. Check this spot out! We'll be back next trip to Bend.

    Hangry...

Amazing!! Breakfast/Brunch...Pancakes ( they added chocolate chips for the boys) and 3 egg scramble so delicious!! The best ever was the cheese & grits with bacon, phenomenal!!

    Not what I ordered!

    Ask the Community - Chow

Is outdoor seating open year round (pending rain)?

No , I am sorry. We close. Our patio due to weather ( mostly covered in snow in the winter )

Is there gluten free bread or other gluten free options?

Yes! Just ask. They have many options.

Went there for brunch today and got a very luke-warm reception (no one acknowledged us) empty tables inside and out but still a 40 min wait... seemed pretentious and unfriendly- should we give it another try?

Yes. This is not usual for them. They are usually on top of greeting guests, but there's a wait, always. Food is excellent, so definitely go back.

Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

We were greeted by the host and seated quickly. We started our meal with a delicious non-alcoholic drink and the Chef's Board: a charcuterie with an assortment of cured meats, rustic bread, and various spreads. That came out pretty quickly. Unfortunately, our main courses came out much, much later and lukewarm. Luckily, the food was good enough that it made up for the temperature. I had the NY strip steak. The steak and the Boursin mashed potatoes alone were very good. The pickled onions and chimichurri complemented the meat very well. The meal was supposed to include brussel sprouts but came with a grilled broccoli cauliflower assortment instead. My wife had the Scallop Risotto which was also a great recommendation from the server. In reality, The Hook & Plow deserved 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option on Yelp. It may have been an off night for the staff, so I will give them the benefit of doubt. We would be open to trying it again sometime in the future.

Verdict: Zydeco is an outstanding restaurant in virtually every way. No negatives to report. The place is popular - arriving just before opening on a weekday, there was a line to get in. Reservations are definitely a good idea here. Our early arrival in line allowed us to choose a good table in the back, where it wouldn't be too hectic. That too was a good idea as the place gets loud with conversation when it fills up. Music wasn't loud, just the people. The menu isn't huge but there are quite a few, varied choices. Given the meal was a bit of a splurge for us, I essentially ignored the prices, which are not trivial by any means. Fine dining entails spending money. Zydeco has a ton of reviews and as the menu apparently doesn't change, I'll just say everything we ordered was great. Cocktails too. The Bramble Down is exquisite. Service was top tier as well. Timely, attentive, professional without being stiff. The capstone to our experience involved the bill. We actually had a gift card from 2017 - nine years ago. While it certainly didn't cover the whole bill, or even half, it was a nice way to defray costs. Unfortunately, when the server ran the gift card, it showed no balance. Not sure why but perhaps over the years, the card had been erased by stray EMF. Despite that and given we provided the card receipt, the restaurant honored the card for the full amount anyway. Well done. Highly recommended.

So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! The open kitchen is especially very cool to watch if you don't have anyone else to hang out with. The reason for the review rating, is just the quality of the food. The day before I went to RBC, and not only was it less money than this, it was much much better. This is absolutely not what I expected from a place that looks like this and cost this much. My steak was OK, but as I said, I got the same one at RBC and it blew this out of the water. Picking your knife is a cute little exercise, but after all that I would've expected my knife to at least be sharp enough to cut the steak the way I wanted it. But that's a silly thing to even get stuck on. What really bugged me was the brussels sprouts first off were just swimming in grease and sauce, they were intense, and I only had a couple spoonfuls. The other thing that really pushed this over the edge was the brisket Bao. That seemed like a cool idea, but the brisket itself was extremely basic and just in a formed square. The sauce tasted like just peanut and nothing else, and the bao itself was extremely dry. The bread service was probably my favorite part, that thing was really tasty and so was the butter. I can't remember what they said the butter specifically was, but it tasted like just butter, it wasn't special. This place just doesn't have the value for the cost for me at all with the other nice steakhouses around.
