Ok massive new FAVORITE restaurant! Went on Thursday for the lunch special and it was AMAZING! Fresh yummy sushi and the lunch special THREE rolls (4 pieces each) for $18.95 us a great price . We also ordered the steamed dumplings You could also order two rolls for $15.95. All of it was quickly delivered and absolutely delicious. I am craving going back asap! The lunch special also comes w salad & miso soup. Seriously delicious and I'll be back soon! PS: the dinner portion is 8 pieces.

First time here! I loved my food very much because it was delicious, Gina, our server was super nice, there was great ambiance, and good upbeat music, too.

Came here on a Friday night for date night. It was pretty busy so I'd recommend making reservations or coming around 5:30-6 pm to avoid a wait! The owner (Key I believe is his name) was so welcoming and friendly. All the staff were! I saw that they had regular customers because they spoke to everyone by first name and everyone ( and I mean everyone) in the restaurant seemed to be having a great time eating sushi. The sushi chefs were quick and they'd have a big smile as they hand you your rolls. The bento box is HUGE. We got the chicken and tempura one and two rolls and between me and my date, we could barely finish it all. The portions are generous and tbe edamame was cooked perfectly as well. They offered us a free dessert for our first time there and I forget what it was called. But we ordered a pistachio and custard gelato dessert and it was the perfect way to end the night We will be back!

This used to be our goto place and last year it went down a bit, service was declining and it was always empty. Last night we decided to give it a shot again and it seems as if it's back to how I remember it! We started off with some drinks and the avocado and asparagus appetizer. This is a must get so so yummy! My husband had some seafood salad thing which looked yummy and I had a roll and soup! The waiter was super awesome and I could tell they had new staff. The place was crowded and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves! We will be back!

The food here is AMAZING!! Always fresh tasting and flavorful! I'm picky when it comes to seafood and in all my times I've ate here, it's yet to taste fishy! Huge plus for me! Everyone is super friendly and you're greeted with a warm welcome. Fees like family every time we dine here. Few of my favorites, chili garlic edamame, Philco, chicken fried noodles... and my girls love the bear ice cream dessert!

The service is excellent, and always attentive. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. Happy hour is such a great deal, and they have a good variety of options. The place is very cute and comfortable, like your typical Sushi spot. Lots of TVs everywhere, which is great for catching the game.

Sushi chefs here are the best and so nice! The rolls were amazing and priced between about $15 to $22. Had a very nice Merlot. Yellowtail roll I had with tuna inside and Jalapeño on top was my favorite. Also enjoyed the garlic edamame. Easy 5 star sushi restaurant and some of the best sushi in Orange County that I've tried but with a small restaurant friendly vibe.

And Adrian has always been incredibly accommodating, somehow making magic happen every time. When my aunt came to town--the same aunt who introduced me to sushi at age 13 in Seattle--I finally had the perfect excuse to book Taikun. After all, I had to show my appreciation to the woman who opened my palate to the wonders of sushi. And at long last, I got to experience it for myself. Adrian, Chef Yasu, and the entire Taikun omakase completely blew me away. Sixteen courses, each one thoughtful, seasonal, and absolutely delicious, made for an unforgettable evening. I even tried rare fish I've never seen anywhere else. Adrian introduced every course with the story behind it--seasonality, origins, ingredients--and even shared photos of the fish to give more context. It truly elevated the entire experience. Don't even get me started on the intimate setting of the experience. It only seats 9 people max which makes it incredibly personal and hands on. You sit right in front of the chef, and he's so nice you feel totally comfortable asking him anything.

Realistically it's a 4.8 for me which is saying a lot. Let's begin with the service; the service is great, no complaints. The ambience is nice, the World Cup was playing so win win. I ordered a spicy seafood udon, but it only contained two pieces of mussel, a few tough, dried calamari rings Finger size), a couple of tiny scallops about the size of baby fingernails, and three pieces of baby shrimp. The soup lacked any seafood flavor and had an overly salty, unappealing red color. The price seemed unreasonable compared to the quality of the food. It's no surprise that they only had two tables occupied on a Saturday afternoon at 1:30 PM. I recommend they consider changing the restaurant's name from "Sushi Kara" to "Kara Sushi." If they are truly Japanese, they would understand the significance of this.

Wow... I'm honestly shaken…read more This morning, the restaurant owner messaged me saying I need to speak with his lawyer because of my review. For reference, this was my Google review: "It wasn't nearly good enough--neither the food nor the experience--to justify treating customers poorly. The chef seems to lack self-awareness. Message me if you are curious about the details. Happy to share with anyone." Now the owner is claiming my review is "false" and says he's taking legal action. He told me I need to read their "policy." I'm sorry--but I go to a restaurant for the food and experience, not to study policies. He also accused me of making people uncomfortable because I tried to take a picture of my boyfriend on his birthday. The whole time I was there, I already felt like I was walking on thin ice--and now it's very clear why. So now what--people can't leave honest reviews without fear of being threatened with legal action? He sent me his lawyer's contact information and said it's "not a threat." Then what is it? It honestly feels like he just wants me to delete my review. I won't be touching it. I will never go back to this restaurant. And people should be aware--if you leave a negative review, you might get contacted by the owner with a lawyer involved. This is on another level. Truly unbelievable. If you truly want to resolve this situation, an apology would be far more appropriate than threatening me.
