I've been a loyal patient of Dr. Phan's for years and every time I go in for a routine check up and x-rays, the techs and team are extremely pleasant. Everyone was super nice and really good at what they do. I imagine it can't be easy being a dentist. People either don't ever want to see you, or see you only when in extreme pain. And then there are really dumb people like me who drink gallons of coffee, eat 2 boxes of peeps, smoke a pack of cigarettes and then wonder why they have gum pain. hmmmm...now I want some peeps, Any hoots, I'm one of those lucky mothertruckers with dental insurance so I can't speak to the costs, but I imagine it is worth it. read more

Just moved to NY a few weeks ago and had some days off. Time to bite the bullet and find a dentist. Thumbs up for the Dr. Phan and her crew. Everyone I interacted with was very friendly and helpful. Getting an appointment was incredibly easy for such a well reviewed dentist. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I called and the receptionist told me there was an opening the next day. I hadn't been to the dentist in just over 2 years due to choosing a pretty ho-hum dental option with my work and moving around quite a bit. I got no judgments by anyone there despite needing a pretty thorough scraping. And I got my money's worth there. Hong was efficient, and sympathetic to my poor gums as she went to town on all that buildup. She even thanked me for being such a trooper. I will definitely be making regular 6 month visits after that. She took tons of digital x-rays and Dr Phan found a cavity that needed to be filled. On my way out the receptionist told me the appointment right after mine had cancelled so I could take care of the cavity right then. Might as well, right? The cavity portion was virtually pain free. She numbed me up with a little topical stuff before injecting me with the good stuff in the back of my mouth, and she must've hit the sweet spot because not only did the injection not even really hurt, but the drilling and filling was pain free--definitely the best I've experienced. (and I've had at least 5 or 6 at this point) Not sure how expensive she is but my deductible and co-pay were about what I expected. Despite the pain in my mouth that I'm sure is coming as the numbing agent wears off, I'd say that was about as good a dental experience as I could ask for after 2+ years away. I'll definitely be back in 6 months and recommend any other new New Yorkers as well. read more

Dr Phan and her uber-professional team are so good at their jobs! In general, I don't love going to the dentist but they definitely take the pain away, emotionally and physically. There's a calm energy running my through the practice and I always notice them working in perfect lockstep. As I type out this review, I am numb from 3 shots of novacaine after my trip to Dr. Phan's to get my cavities re-drilled. This was my second visit to her office. My first visit was a few weeks ago for a routine check up and cleaning. I chose Dr. Phan because of the positive Yelp reviews and because she accepts Met Life dental insurance. The reviews were spot on. The office is located within a Madison Avenue building filled with other generic medical offices but just from the outside door on the 8th floor, you can tell that this was different. It's a tiny space kept simple and tidy, reminiscent of a spa. The office has a good supply of RECENT magazines that cater to many different clients. The room also didn't reek of dental machines like you would normally expect, but rather subtle floral aromas. What I like about going to Dr. Phan is that she makes you feel comfortable as she examines you. She explains what she finds in a simple fashion and doesn't make you feel ashamed as you normally may with some other doctors/dentists. I felt at ease during my hour long procedure today and even felt relaxed in an odd way as she drilled down (perhaps it was the novacaine). I like how the staff makes you feel welcomed and does not rush you. The entire team is very friendly and I would recommend Dr. Phan to my friends. My only small complaint was the lack of tissues by the fountain where you rinse your mouth out. I am inept at rinsing my mouth out without spilling it all over myself, thus a tissue next to the fountain would be helpful. read more

Everyone at the office was so kind and helpful. We arrived very late to our appointment and the staff bent over backwards to help us. While we were only there for an evaluation, Dr. Phan was as kind as could be, and explained everything that needed to be done very clearly. After living in NYC for 5 years, I was recommended by a friend to visit Dr. Phan two years ago. I never looked back. In the first year, my cavities (a consequence of bad childhood medical context) have been all resolved and filled. My cleaning is scheduled ahead of time, and man that assistant cleans my teeth like I've never seen before. My teeth never felt so clean and healthy. Additionally, I have two crown-related issues, which took one year of dentist shopping - with prices and procedures ranging up to 12k, rated by other dentists. I was crushed. When I found Dr Phan, she explained well the condition, and took me step by step in a program to improve it, with a fraction of a cost. I feel that she took very good care of me, with clarity in explaining what needs to be done and why. Her office has an outstanding design and comfort. Her staff is friendly and positive. I cannot agree more with all the reviews - everyone is amazing. I had an emergency I was concerned with and they called me back immediately to fit me in. The office is bright, clean, and well designed. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by the friendly face of the receptionist and then dental assistant to Dr. Kim (who I highly recommend) it was a pleasant experience. I have had a very genuine fear of dentists for my whole life and deal with a tricky passing out problem whenever I'm confronted with any medical needles or pain or discomfort. I don't think I've ever seen one dentist more than once due to me basically scaring them into turning me away. Dr Phan was recommended to me and at first I didn't believe it would be any different. I couldn't be more wrong! She does an amazing job, I'm now calm and relaxed for visits, and although it's no fun, I manage to actually get fillings finished! A HUGE achievement! Going to the dentist has always been a scary and often extremely painful experience for me. I've had lots of dental work, and hate going. Not with Dr. Phan. She is by far, the best dentist I've ever seen. She is fast, efficient, very intelligent and reassuring without making you feel like she's sugar coating the truth. I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Phan. Her and her staff were wonderful and did everything they could to accommodate me. I received a very thorough cleaning and Dr. Phan patiently walked me through the x-rays that had been taken. I've never gotten anything more than my bi yearly cleaning. If any major dental work happens I will update. I've been going to Dr. Phan's for a few years after referrals from 2 of my coworkers that love her. Had been waiting till she finally accepted my insurance. The office is clean and dental hygienists are very thorough. She comes to do a final look to make sure everything is in good shape. The equipment seems modern and you always leave with a bag of goodies- toothbrush, floss. So happy to have found a reliable and honest dentist that never tries to upsell me. read more

My husband and I have been going here for about 5 years. Up until my last few visits, Dr. Phan (instead of a hygenist) did the cleanings, which I really liked since she's is a good dentist--thorough, happy to answer any questions, and non judge-y. Now a hygenist does the cleanings, which is fine, but I trust Dr. Phan and know I'm in good hands there. I have recommended her to some of my friends and colleagues and they have had positive experiences as well. Also they have friendly/competent people at the front desk, which is a plus in my book. Now if I could only find doctors in midtown that I like as much as my dentist...sigh. Don't get me wrong, I dread getting my teeth cleaned (and the possibility of discovering new cavities) just as much as the next person, but they make my check-ups as "painless" as possible. read more

I had an excellent dentist, but he only worked two days a week and it conflicted badly with my schedule and he was inflexible since he taught at NYU. I found Dr. Phan and I am pleased with her work. She takes my insurance, which only covers a portion of the cost but her prices are not unreasonable. So a recent crown I had done was around 800.00 for me. Insurance paid another 350 or so. For a crown in NYC that's extremely reasonable and she did a very nice job fitting it carefully. It looked excellent and within a day I got used to it. She is gentle and her office is clean and even elegant. The only negative is that not all her staff is always top quality. One time, a drill bit fell off in my mouth since it hadn't been put in right, and another time an assistant couldn't work the Xray properly and repeated it 4 times in one spot! I never saw that assistant again at least. Her other staff who do the cleanings are nice and thorough. Dr. Phan is straightforward and to the point. She will suggest lots of work, but she does know what she is talking about. read more

I had been dreading going to the dentist for a while. About a year ago, I had a crown done in Brooklyn and lets just say I wasn't excited to go to a dentist anytime soon. I decided to stop putting off the visit, and found the great reviews of Dr. Phan here on yelp. I am so glad I chose Dr. Phan. First, her office is beautiful, clean, and her staff is amazing. From the receptionist, to her assistant, all were extremely nice and helpful. The appointment started near perfectly on time and the procedures were not rushed. Being in New York, I've found it to be very common to have to wait for an hour + for over booked doctors, which is absurd. I think i waited longer when I was going to my former dentist outside of Pittsburgh,PA. The cleaning and follow-up for one filling were the best experiences I've ever had at a dentist. Dr. Phan, is very helpful and explains everything before it is done. Very reasonably priced as well. I hope she never leaves New York, and if she does, I might just travel to get my cleaning every six months. Good to find a great doctor. I hope this helps someone that was like myself.
