I have been coming to Christine's Salon for four years and have always had a great experience with the other stylists here. Unfortunately, today was an absolute nightmare, and I had by far the worst haircut of my entire life. I had an appointment with Holly for my regular male side part fade. I even showed her a picture of how I usually get it done. She started using the clippers without a guard/spacer, cut it way too short, and realized she couldn't blend it. I am now left looking half-bald on the side with long hair on top. Instead of owning up to the mistake, she spent over 40 minutes trying to "fix" it while blaming me. She kept yelling and repeatedly telling me that my hair is "too difficult" and that my head is "shaped wrongly." I have had hundreds of haircuts in my life, and no one has ever said that. There was a clear language barrier, so I kept repeating the word "fade" and tried to stay calm, but being yelled at and insulted made it a terrible, humiliating experience. I am honestly ashamed of how I look right now. I will never let Holly touch my hair again. If you visit this salon, stick to the other stylists who actually do a great job. I gave 4 stars several years ago. It should have been 5 stars!! Holly has been coloring and cutting my hair for almost 20 years! I have very fine hair with no curls. Holly does the shade of brown (over my grey hair) that I love and looks good with my coloring. She always styles it nicely. I often get a pedicure while the dye is setting. Their charges are 1/2 what others charge. I highly recommend Holly. The other stylists seem equally talented! read more

Do not come here to get your nails done. My first and last time. I had an older lady do my nails. Really sweet lady though. I came in with acrylic nails and wanted them removed. I wanted my natural nails painted. They don't do acrylic by the way. These are the results $20 later. I get what I paid for. I came here cause I was in the area. Horrible haircut. It was a red flag when she couldn't listen to how I wanted my hair cut. She kept impatiently interrupting, saying "I know, I know- I've been cutting hair for two decades." I made it clear I wanted to keep my bangs. Minutes later I watched in horror as she cut them off straight across my forehead. The left and right side of my head don't match in hair length. They have been in the same location in couple decades, that alone could tell that they must be doing something right. Staff are very attentive my son had a haircut and we didnt even have to wait. This is one of those places where you get a good deal for a fast haircut. I think the girl did a really good job of giving me the cut I asked for, and she did not rush it. She was nice and pleasant, and the cut looks pretty good right now, will probably look better once I style it. For the price, I think its a great value and I would come back again for sure. I go to that salon with my daughter for a haircut every 2-3 months. I have not had any color or other services done, so this review is for haircuts only. We have been going there since my daughter was 2 years old. They do a good job for kids and adults. It is one of the few reasonably priced hair salons in the area. We are happy with the haircuts, our hair is always soft and shiny when we walk out of this place, which is a feat in my case because I normally walk in there with dry hair. They are nice with my daughter and chat and joke with her. Both my daughter and I have always walked out of there satisfied with our haircut. read more

Made a Thursday Brazilian wax appointment in the morning, day of for 7pm that evening, closing time with Kim their main waxer. She has been brazilian waxing for 4-5 years. Kim was running 5 minutes late but was very nice. She didn't change the linens from the previous customer, stains on the sheet and hairs. Two sheet covered tables in room. Double dips the same wooden spatula throughout the waxing. Reuses muslin strips a couple of times. She waxes smaller areas then I prefer. Room gets warm. Kim did comply with not going over the same area with hot wax. Was sensitive to the temperature and blew on it, which probably isn't a hygienic cooling method. She did pluck the stray hairs. Used baby powder to prep the area then baby oil after plucking. Took 15 minutes to wax me. Kim said I am quick compared to others, some clients can take an hour, they have hair on their thighs and up their stomach too. When I booked the appointment, I must have asked the wrong question, I asked for hot wax, no muslin strips. Only procured through a doctor, prescription only. Cleanliness of waxing room 1 Double dip the wooden paddle/stick, only used the one 1 Nice friendly staff 4 Brazilian wax, pain and attention to detail 4 Price $30 w/ $10 tip 4 Appointments suggested. Christine the owner waxes but doesn't prefer to. Note: Got a rash afterwards, first time I have gotten a rash from a Brazilian. Don't know if it could be the cleaniliness aspect of double dipping the stick or my first time using hot wax with muslin strips. read more

When she finally started I asked specifically not to take anything off the top and the "stylist" cut two thirds off the length of it. They don't wash your hair or anything, but Janet (I think that was her name?) was attentive to my requests (long layers, keep length, thin out hair) and worked carefully but quickly. I was in at 11:20 AM, and was out well before noon. Rita was friendly but gave an extremely painful waxing. Traumatizing experience, as she lied and said everything was fine. I was left with ripped skin and bruising. She tried to tell me this was normal, this is far from normal and has never happened before in my life. Plus she was laughing through the whole thing which did not create a good environment. I knew it would be a horrible experience when I pulled up, but it was a last minute appointment. Avoid this place if you care about your skin or don't want a wax that will make you cry. I started coming to Christine's over a decade ago. Most of the time Melissa cut my hair. Everyone is lovely and kind and the mess, while a little distracting, can be seen as adorable. Until it just isn't because something has to work out, hopefully the hair cut. Look around for another spot if you can find one. They are nice but. Here is how it went for me: After about seven years I had one truly awful experience and then didn't return for a couple years. Then I came back with my kid because she recalled how sweet they were and it is close - she had an OK cut and gorgeous purple tips on her dark hair. Just now I made an appointment for my son and I, they weren't ready. Then they took him (Diana) and completely ignored what he asked for, giving him some kind of generic boy cut with a lot of shrugging. Kim gave me an excellent perm and haircut. I came here by chance, without any previous reviews about their perm services. Kim was fast, friendly and professional. While waiting for the perm to set in, she had time to give three haircuts to other customers. The shop itself is nice and spacious (larger than your average salon) and comfortable waiting area. Haircut for women is 20 dollars and 10 for men. I walked in today (Sunday) and got into a chair pretty quickly, no waiting. I just wanted a haircut, some layers. They don't wash your hair or anything, it's just pretty straightforward. The woman who cut my hair was friendly and we had a nice chat, I showed her a photo of what I wanted my style to be and I'm very satisfied. She said she's worked there or has been a hair stylist since 1994. I'd go back here again for a haircut, no fuss, gets the job done. read more

Shoutout to Christine for helping me trim my hair before I left for India! I was in need of a trim before my trip and did not know of any good places in the Silicon Valley because it is intimidating to see how many haircut places there are in this area! However, I was recommended by my friend, so I just thought I would give it a try. Although I had a 2:00 pm appointment, I did have to wait about 15 minutes before we were seen. The location was literally poppin' at 2 pm, and I was very surprised. Left and right, women were seen getting Brazilian blow-outs and dying their hair in time for the summer season. For me, I was just trimming my hair about 3 more inches, and Christine made my hair more A-lined, which looked great on me after the cut. While the store may not be one of the most trendiest salons you have ever been to, it definitely is worth the price. I paid $15 (without tip) for my trim, which actually took out a significant weight off my hair. I am pleased with Christine's services and would recommend her to anyone looking for just a trim! P.S. There are actually some good restaurants around this area, so you can knock down 2 bookmarks in one visit to Mountain View! That's what I did. :) read more

I went here for eyebrow threading and upper lip waxing. The threading was painfully slow, took 20 minutes and the result wasn't good. My eyebrows don't match and I'm not sure who hygienic their equipment is, my skin had a reaction to wear the thread had been. I usually get my eyebrows done every month, never had a skin reaction and years and it usually takes 5-10 minutes. Overall service was slow, definitely not going back here. My family has been going to Christine for years. Since hair salons were allowed to re-open in Santa Clara County, I have seen Christine twice for hair cuts and color. Pre-Covid, Christine's Salon was always packed with stylists and aestheticians, and clients, and was a lively place. Since the new regulations, the salon has had to implement strict social distancing and sanitation standards, and has managed to do an excellent job with this. Clients are spaced out at every other station, and there are only a few clients in the salon at a time. Mask policy is strictly enforced and there is constant sanitizing of chairs and surfaces. While it doesn't have the lively atmosphere, it feels safe and welcoming. My hair looks great, and I always enjoy chatting with Christine, as she has become a good friend. read more

I got a manicure-pedicure with the special OPI gel-like polish on my nails, which cost $30. The quality of the manicure was quite poor. The polish is uneven, and I honestly think I could have done a better job myself. The pedicure was better but there are better places for the same price. Some of the bad parts about the experience: salon is not well kept. While I don't expect much from a salon on the low-end side, they didn't seem to be very hygienic about their towels, their tools and the chairs. The furniture looked very grody and the whole place seemed disorganized about where things are kept. The lady who did my nails did not seem very experienced in nail painting, but she was nice. Good parts: pretty much just the price... The clientele is much older--almost everyone there was my grandmother's age or older.
