Just wanted to write a review because this was by far one of the most comfortable hair cutting experiences I've had with a barber Kim was very talkative and super nice. She asked plenty of questions to make sure I got the haircut I wanted and also gave me tips on how to grow out and maintain it as well. She also is quick and very professional with your advice she got what I wanted right away as soon as I showed her a picture overall 5/5 would recommend. I had good experience with Kim. She took her time to make sure at each stage that I was happy with the results and double checks her own work. She is very sweet lady who really wants to do a good job for you. She keeps her appointment schedule and does try to squeeze pop up customers. She works alone. Contrary to the yelp site for her business, she doesn't take walk-ins unless she doesn't have an appointment. It's better to call or you'll be disappointed. read more

I always like the sides of my hair cut straight up and down so my head doesn't look like an "EGG". She does a great job. I've been to this place twice. The first time was okay - I got my haircut by the main/happy/red-tinted hair lady. She's nice and she listened to instructions. The second time was horrible. I got my haircut by some other woman (asian, middle-aged, but that doesn't help). SHE BUTCHERED MY HEAD. I had asked for only a little off the top and back. SHE CUT OFF INCHES AND INCHES. She asked if I wanted it cut around my ears. I said no. SHE DID IT ANYWAY. And to boot, she nicked my neck with the electric razor in about 5 places. Though the price is right ($11 - male), I would be willing to spend $20 right now to get my old hair back. Instead, I went home and abused my furniture with my cheap China-town ninja sword (which broke in the process). I don't feel any better. Then, my girlfriend called the place to tell them how unhappy I was and they were standoffish and unwilling to apologize. Hair 7 - you've lost one customer today and I hope you lose many more because of this review. read more

Ok, I'm reviewing this as a family haircutting place - Not a high end $150 uber salon. I'm a 25 year old male who has been coming here for 10 years. I've been getting my hair cut by mostly Kim, but sometimes her brother when he works (he'll work for a couple months every few years). Like any haircut, the difference between a good haircut and a great haircut is the barber needs to know your hair! I have extremely finicky hair and Kim continues to crank out perfect haircuts and she's fast too! Which is great when you wann just stop in for a quick trim. She's really sweet and honestly cares to do a good job. She usually has 2 other women working there and sometimes her daughter. The other women aren't as experienced as Kim so if you are SUPER anal about your hair make sure you either make an appointment with Kim or wait around until she's free. Oh and btw - mens haircuts are $11! ... and $9 on Wednesdays! I get my hair cut every other week because of this price. It's like a hole in the wall mexican restaurant, if you don't need flashy hair stylists this place is not only a killer deal but a great haircut. I wouldn't be bummed if you didn't go - that way I don't have to battle you for an appointment with Kim:) read more

I just had my first haircut at Kim's. I'm really impressed: Kim did a great job! She's a very nice person, so the experience was wonderful. My haircut was a whopping $15, which is really cheap for such a nice cut. I'll definitely come back again. Note: although the Yelp listing says that an appointment isn't required, Kim told me that she *does* require one. If you happen to be there when she's not booked, she'll take you, but her schedule is dictated by her list of appointments. Bottom line: highly recommended! read more

I came here for about 4 years straight to get my eyebrows waxed from 2006-2010. Used to love it.. Sometimes they would do great others came out un-even but I was young (16-20) and could always do enough damage control to fix it. I am going out of town tonight so I thought is make an apt. here to go on my lunch break. I called yesterday evening made an apt for 215. Got there today at 205.. Waited till 230 till they finally asked me if I was early.. Yes I was but now it's passed my apt. I guess the women screaming back and fourth across the salon getting everything waxed were more important. Didn't seem to really even care that they completely ignored my apt (and I did let someone know when I got there that I had an apt). Going out of town and need to I somewhere after work and sit in more traffic, plus a wasted lunch break. Don't make an apt; it's pointless.. Go as a walk-in and hope for the best. You'll probably get placed ahead of people with apt anyway. read more

I grew up on the Peninsula but spent much of my 20's living abroad, and anytime I'd come home for a visit a haircut with Kim would be one of my first stops. I dropped by for a haircut, but she said she does not usually take walk-ins and she was pretty booked. I made an appointment for later that day and came back. She was on time for the appointment, very polite, and had good service. She does cut a bit slower than average, but I liked that she was very attentive to details and showed me what she did with my hair as she was working. I'm overall very happy with the cut and it only cost $20+ tip for long hair! read more

$10 for eyebrow threading walked in a little after 7 pm on a friday since it was the only place open in the neighborhood. it was pretty empty but i thought the lady did a fantastic job especially for the $ --- Uh so my second visit here was wack I came in they ushered me in the back i laid down closed my eyes... The lady proceeded to slather wax on my eyebrow I was like "noo, i wanted threading!" And she looked at me confused and told me, "no this is wax." No duh, thus the protest, lady! She pretended like she didnt understand and then finally asked, "you want threading?" I felt like i was taking crazy pills. Then she said i needed to make an appt on mondays... Jeez louise. I came out with a mediocre brow job. Not sure if it was because of the weird energy after the mishap or if she's a mediocre eyebrow waxer.
