Got a haircut that looked nothing like the picture I showed the stylist. Very disappointed.

I have been going to Christopher Perry for 10+ years. The salon always looks clean and maintained. A testament to its owners. My go to stylist is Fanya. She is an expert with curly hair. My stylist was Alicia, I visited her the first part of May. I am very disappointed in the experience and service received; my hair is not even close to what I asked/showed her what I wanted. I would not recommend her or the salon. I called the salon an hour before my appointment to check in and arrived on time. There were two front desk clerks and afterwards I realized that Alicia's station was situated directly next to them. I waited 20 minutes and Alicia came over to greet me. I asked her if she is usually behind schedule this much; her response was that her first client was late which pushed her whole day behind. Ok...definitely the front desk should have known she was behind schedule and told me I could come in 20 minutes later. The front desk clerks were unprofessional in their demeanor and their attitudes/conduct were really more the likes of a mall hair cutting place. I asked for a V-cut style so I can wear my hair naturally curly or straight. I showed her the pininterest pictures on my phone as a clear example of what I wanted. I'll put all three photos here. What I got was an X, with my neck being the point center. I expressed to Alicia that the cut wasn't what I wanted/asked for. Her response was such that no further service was going to be rendered to remedy the bad cut she gave me. I had to ask her to style the front of my hair and it really looked like I just got out of bed rather than a salon cut. I was disappointed from beginning to end with the salon and stylist. This is by far the best place to get your hair done!! I love it! From the drinks, to the atmosphere, to the products they use! "Ammonia free bleach" Amazing product line! Kelly is my hair dresser & she is so gifted, professional, concise, super kind, & has the best hair washing techniques I've ever experienced ( head massage) and of course most importantly sooooo good at hair! Im a regular blonde highlight client, and for having blonde hair, it is the healthiest when she does it! You really don't know how good your hairdresser is until you've got an emergency. Like when your hair is burned off & green from another stylist's heavy hand with the bleach. Yikes! First Daniel helped me fix my burned up mess. Then he helped me find a new, short style that I adore! He has an artist's gift, seriously. Based on the shape of my face, he offered (not pushy at all -- I asked for his opinion) some ideas and showed me some pictures. I couldn't see how those pictures would look like me at all, but he was 100% right! I'm so glad I've taken his advice & so grateful to have found him! I was referred to this salon by my future sister in law as I was looking for a place for all of my bridal needs. So, I decided to go with a haircut first and Daniel was my stylist. He did an amazing job on my hair and had the best personality ever! Definitely recommend Daniel. I then scheduled my pre-bridal hair (Kelly) and make-up (Sierra) for my bridal shower. I can't express how AMAZING they made be feel and look. They both did exactly what I told them I wanted and more. The girls at the shower loved it! I have scheduled all of my (5) bridesmaids and both mothers to have their hair and make-up done here for my wedding. KELLY is amazing. I came in to fix a really bad haircut I received at Supercuts four months prior (My hair was cut uneven on one side and basically looked like a bowl cut at my chin). I was traumatized, and really nervous to get it trimmed. It was my first time at Christopher Perry salon. I didn't want to take much off the length, but wanted Kelly to somehow fix it and reshape it. While this doesn't seem possible, KELLY worked miracles on my hair!!!! She was able to even it out without taking any noticeable length off the bottom. She reshaped the back to give it more of a modern look. It was the first time I felt good about my hair in the last 4 months. So glad I don't have to hide anymore. Needs to improve service ex. My daughter got a cut, that is so choppy we have to go somewhere else to get it fixed, the lady said she would give her beach waves and resulted in lazy hoop curls. I got highlights, my hair is a natural dirty blonde but when she highlighted it it was white, and she had to tone it again. I left with wet hair. I went up to the counter to explain I didn't get my hair done it costs the exact same and I asked why and they explained I have to pay more because of the toner, So my girl made my hair white and I have to pay? (I went from really yellow toned hair into a great light ashy color!) She was extremely friendly, patient and detail-oriented! A young girl gave me a blowout probably a month or two ago and it was probably one of the worst blowouts I've ever gotten... she had like shoulder length hair and her dad also works at the salon. I feel really bad writing this review but I want to write it to also inform her so she knows. So I am Asian but I have naturally wavy hair that's like halfway down my back and i always get blowouts every week because I'm too lazy to do my hair. I decided to give this place a try since it's near my house. Ok onto the blowout, I don't know what technique she's doing but it was hurting my head and my hair kept getting stuck on the brush. My hair was getting frizzy and the ends weren't bouncy or nice like a typical blow out. She ended up having to straighten my hair once she was done "blowing my hair out". That is crazy. I've literally never had to have someone straighten my hair after a blowout before. The whole point for a blowout is so have nice, smooth and semi bouncy hair at the ends. What's crazy is even after she used a flat iron my hair was still frizzy!!! And the curls were all over the place. It looked like a toddler did my hair. Like what in the actual eff. I still paid for my service, didn't complain and tipped her regularly because I didn't want to be rude. But I literally can't stop thinking about my blowout :(. When she told me her whole family does hair I thought I was in good hands but I guess that wasn't the case. read more

Last week, I had a cut and Brazilian blowout with Fanya and my color done with Jackie. Both stylists are really, really good. Brazilian Blowout -Fanya is very friendly, works efficiently, and was very patient with all of my questions. She let me "zone out" and relax when I needed to, answered all of my questions about products and caring for my hair, and overall was a pleasure. I have curly hair, and I'm amazed at how all of the frizz is gone. This was my first Brazilian blowout, and I'll definitely be back for another one. Cut -Fanya is perfect for curly-haired girls. She has curlys herself and understood how to cut my hair. I've previously gone to salons specializing in curly hair, and this cut was just as good, if not better. Color -Jackie is sweet and really knowledgable. She gave me just what I was looking for in terms of subtle highlights and covering my grays. I have only good things to say about the experience. Miscellaneous -Front desk staff is friendly, location is great (easy parking), and salon is nice. All in all, highly recommend. read more

Overall great experience. Staff was nice and hair stylist was nice as well. I wanted more layers in my hair and she accomplished that. Layering wasn't the best I've had but good enough. Got my roots done and she used a lighter brown color that I expected so it faded a bit after I washed my hair the next day but it's ok. My hair grows fast. Only gave 3 stars instead of 4 because I wasn't totally happy wirh my coloring or my haircut. read more

I have been going to Christopher Perry for around 7 years and have had great experiences with Alicia, and Monica and Tammy to a point where I often recommended the salon to my friends. That all changed when I went in for a last minute appointment last weekend and went to Kelly for a cut and color. I asked for my brown hair to be a shade or 2 darker without the red tones. What I received 2 hours and $200 dollars later was my hair almost the exact same shade as the color it was when I went in. If anything it was lighter and had a lot more red tones in it. To this day I have no idea what Kelly did to my hair. kelly even admitted it was lighter than expected. After going home to fully inspect I called the salon and requested a refund as my hair looked exactly as it did when I went in, with the exception of adding more of the color I wanted to get rid of. The manager on duty said she would refund the color not the cut (which seemed to be more of a quick trim than a $70 cut). She then said she didn't want to talk with me anymore and transferred me to the front desk associate who told me I was lucky to be getting what I was getting. And "now it's best if we part ways" in other words, don't come back. Don't worry Christopher Perry I will definitely not be coming back and I recommend others find alternative salons as well. There are plenty in the area. read more

Do not waste your hard-earned money. Others have said that the salon has a welcoming environment - and it seemed friendly enough. But listen to your hair - which should stand on end in fear, if you've booked an appointment here. This was quite simply, one of the worst treatments my poor, overworked, colored-to-death hair has endured. I go to a salon for professional treatment; a five-year-old could have done better with paint and plastic school scissors. I asked for a color specialist, and had a consult with Vanessa. On the strength of our discussion, I scheduled an appointment for cut, color and full highlights. I am a 100% color-treated brunette (my hair went white-gray very early), and I wanted the root growth touched-up, the brunette base filled and some flattering highlights added. My layered cut needed refreshing, but not re-styled. I didn't want too much off the length (on my shoulders), but the layers definitely need a clean-up. So, what did I get? The base color came out lighter, which was okay and the highlights were done finely, but not very thoroughly for a "full head". Overall the hair's tone was brassy instead of caramel. For my cut, I think I heard the scissors snip three times, and sitting in the car afterward, I could clearly see in the mirror the wispy split-ends of the layers still scratching at my face. This was supposed to be a treat before I flew to Europe to visit family, which I did a week later. Their reaction? "Your hair needs a good cut", "it's a funny color" "it's not very flattering, is it?" I resent being charged $55.00 for a no-cut. I disliked that the color-work was minimal. For $200+ it shouldn't be necessary for me to be now staring at a bottle of Preference, and scouting hair salons for someone who can cut hair. The lesson here? Just because your stylist looks hip and trendy, it doesn't mean they know how to work hair. I'm just glad school's back in session - I should be able to find a first grader with paint and scissors ready to go. read more

Normally, I don't care too much about my hair. It's pretty much just there to protect my dome from the sun and to give me cheap material for my human hair Chewbacca costume. However, I decided to step up in the hair care department and visit Christopher Perry Salon. It was the right thing to do. I felt like Harry Potter when I was in there because they were working some freaking magic. My follicles were frolicking. Misty is a miracle worker. I went to get my hair done by Elizabeth yesterday and she was amazing! My best friend had referred me to her and told me that she loves Elizabeth because she always gives her exactly the haircut she wants and never cuts any more or less, which says a lot :) I went in and wanted to try a new look, and Elizabeth was fantastic! She made sure she knew how much I wanted cut off, and cut my new bangs on the long side so she could dry and straighten them before we decided to cut a little more off. I really loved her attention to detail and the time she took to make sure she gave me exactly what I wanted, but in baby steps to make sure it was right before she cut too much. I also loved that she dried and straightened my new 'do before I left the salon! I have naturally curly hair that either needs to be straightened or needs some serious product to remain curly but not frizzy, and it is a rare occasion that I leave a salon looking presentable because stylists never seem to understand that they can't just run their fingers through my curls and leave them. I just loved the time and attention Elizabeth gave me, and she was awesome to talk to as well! She put me right at ease :) I will DEFINITELY be going back here for ALL my future hair care needs...especially those free trims on my bangs and face framing layers between haircuts! I called the store in Costa Mesa, since it was right next to my work and they were full that day but the receptionist told me they had another store in Tustin. He told me where it was located (a minute from my house) and offered to help get me an appointment (excellent customer service BTW :) So I drove down there and met with Tammy. She is this very sweet woman and taught me so much about my hair. She cut my bangs sideswept, which in the past has be "difficult" for other stylists to do, and cut the rest of my hair perfectly. My hair is softer and healthier. I am DEFINITELY going back to her!! :) Also, I told her that I don't normally know how to style my hair so she went step-by-step through everything from blow-drying to curling my hair! Definitely METHINKS NOT! First off, DO NOT hire a stylist who doesn't have common sense. I had light brown hair with ombre. I went in because I wanted a solid color all around. Solid light brown, as I already had it for my base. Anyhow, I specifically tell the chick with all the tattoo's what I want, and I specifically say NO RED TONES!!!! I'm all about the ash browns. I explain this as I would to a 5 year old, and say everything stays the same, just all around same base color. End result? DARK BROWN RED TONED HAIR! After a few washes, it looks more red and tacky. UGH! I went back so she could "fix it" but same shit! Lesson learned. read more

Atrocious does not accurately capture the experience I had at Christopher Perry. I'll preface by saying this was not my first time at the salon, but it was undoubtedly my last. I advise you to stay away as well. When I called to make an appointment I was informed my stylist was no longer working there. As to be expected, they would not tell me where she had gone, but recommended another stylist. Unfortunately for me, I agreed. I do understand that trying to replicate someone else's color can be a daunting task. However, the entire process took over 3 hours! The stylist started by dropping the color brush and staining a section of my forearm. (I was forced to wear sweaters in August to cover up the dye stain). She was extremely unfriendly and non-engaging. When I tried to talk to her she asked me if I wanted to read a magazine. After my hair was rinsed, she told me that because of the color I chose my scalp would be dyed for a week or so; but not to worry, it would wash out. Not only was my scalp stained but also my entire hairline. I had asked her to cut as much hair as necessary to rid me of any split ends or breakage. She told me my ends were not bad and that she would only cut 1/2 inch. I thought "umm... ok." However, I am convinced she rushed the hair cut because the color took her too long. Three days later, I washed my hair for the first time. To my horror my entire shower was streaming with violet water. ALL OF THE COLOR WAS WASHING OUT OF MY HAIR!! Two days and over $200 later... I was in the exact same position as when I had walked into Christopher Perry. read more

**ATTENTION ALL WOMEN WITH THIN+FINE HAIR** I have struggled for years to find a hairdresser to properly cut, add texture, volume and body to my limp and lifeless hair. Juliana is the only person I trust with my hair, I've had her cut my hair a total of 3 times and I will never go to another! We all know the feeling of a haircut looking amazing after it has been styled in the salon but when you get home and wash it once, it never looks the same.... if anything my haircut looks BETTER after I wash it. I wake up each day not dreading a bad hairday. Aside from her impressive technical skill she has a great personality and gives an amazing wash as well. I came to this salon 2 years ago for a cut & style. I haven't been back because it's out of the way for me. My stylist was Elizabeth. I hope she still works there, in case I decide to go back, and also so everyone else can have their hair done by her. If not, I hope she sees this and contacts me somehow so I can book an appointment! Elizabeth is freakin' amazing! She listened to how I said I wanted my hair, and did it exactly. She gave me the best cut I have ever had. You can see the result in my avatar. I also truly enjoyed talking to her, which is not how I feel about the other stylists I have been to. I thought I wrote a review a long time ago, but apparently it slipped my mind. Misty is the only person I ever have gone to here and I would never go to anyone else. Not that I don't think they're competent, just that I freaking love Misty and what she does to my hair. I've had days that I told her exactly what I wanted and days that I had no clue what I wanted or just a vague idea; every time I walked out with a smile on my face and a sweet haircut/hair dye (and some sweet products). They'll get you water while you're waiting (they might have coffee too, I don't remember) and a bunch of magazines (pretty current ones!) to get ideas from. The atmosphere is very hip/trendy and I have always felt comfortable there. I have never left without getting an amazing head massage when they wash my hair. I would recommend Christopher Perry if you have the money, it is kinda expensive. If you can get an appointment with her, GO TO MISTY. She is the sweetest hairstylist you could have and really cares about her clients. She did my hair and up-do for my wedding and I looked great.
