We stopped by two Sundays in a row after church. When they say their bread pudding is life changing, they're not lying. The rum butter takes it up a notch. One of the people with us doesn't even like bread pudding but really enjoyed it here. My favorite thing I had as far as breakfast goes was the Aristocrat omelet. They make omelets properly, fluffy and delicious. One thing I find a little odd about their food is the corned beef hash. If you ask for a side, they will literally give you just the meat, which is sliced corn beef. Definitely not traditional. It tastes good, but the presentation is weird to me. read more

Had their cabbage rolls tonight dinner Wednesday 10/8 with mashed potatoes and green beans still. The potatoes were pasty like either half still frozen or not cook all the way, the green beans were crunchy and had no flavor, the cabbage rolls OMG were horrible meat rice no flavor and sauerkraut just plain on top. You cook the sauerkraut with the cabbage rolls and let it all cook together. I won't be returning or recommending. I had prime rib there 2 years ago same thing no flavor and it was all fatty. There is definitely room for improvement read more

This is one of my favorite places for an enjoyable meal in the Dayton area when we're visiting family. My sister lives in the area and it's one of her favorites. It is a very nice spot to get out-of-the-ordinary fare in a very pleasant atmosphere. We have been here three times now and have enjoyed each visit. On each visit, we have been able to be seated quickly in spite of the fact that they have always been on the busy side. In addition, we have consistently experienced very good service from friendly and gracious servers. The restaurant environment is also enjoyable as the decor is pleasant. They seem to occupy a double storefront in the conventional Kettering strip plaza where they're conveniently located, and their dining area is compartmentalized accordingly. We've sat in both dining areas and they have slightly different feels. I have a slight preference for the area when you first enter as the seating arrangement is a little cozier and more intimate as I recall. Their menu features some wonderful comfort food and is also rather creative. Our favorites so far have been the Roasted Beet Trio, the Salmon and the Sausage and Pierogis. The former features greens, onions, feta and pecans in addition to the beets. It's very tasty. The house dressing, a Mango Chardonnay Vinaigrette, also deserves mention. But my highlight is the Life Changing Bread Pudding. That's not too far off when they describe it that way. It is excellent. There are several other decadent desserts as well. The prices are great values. We have been able to stay around $25 per person with food, drink, tax and tip factored in. This is a very good price for the treat of eating here. We'll continue to look forward to chances to go to Christopher's when we come to town. read more

Just a great family owned place where the food is excellent and the service top notch. We were in for breakfast and cinnamon French toast, Benedict, cinnamon apples and everything else was delicious. The coffee was hot and strong. Skip the home fries and ask for hash browns (which were not on the menu.) Our waitress Jade was adorable, professional and attentive. Christopher's is a great local eatery. Always packed and food is delicious! The days specials are interesting and tasty. Last visit I ordered the special -- a pimento cheese sandwich. It came served on a croissant with a bed of angel hair lettuce and a generous helping of dirty potato chips....awesome! Now, I was raised in the south and grew up on pimento cheese spread sandwich's. So I had to try Christopher's rendition of pimento cheese sandwich. I was surprised by a touch of horseradish in the cheese mixture that added a spark to my taste buds giving it an adult taste as opposed to the sweet flavor of commercial pimento cheese spread that is was expecting. I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I grew up in Dayton, yet had never set foot inside Christopher's Restaurant until last month. How did I miss such a gem? My sibling and I needed brunch, and after a quick internet search for nearby places open on a Monday, settled upon Christopher's. The restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall, and as it is decorated in typical 1990's decor, at first glance seems like just your regular old breakfast place. Quickly, however, it becomes clear this is absolutely not the case. Hints: SO many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Veggie-friendly choices include not one but two tofu scrambles, veggie sausage patties, vegetarian biscuits and gravy, and a veggie eggs Benedict. They also have theme nights, including Gluten Free Taco Tuesday and Vegan Wednesday. The food is delicious, prepared quickly, and arrives at the perfect temperature, and the portion sizes are quite generous for the price. We sampled the vegetarian biscuits and gravy (obviously), the veggie eggs Benedict, and the country breakfast bowl with veggie sausage gravy, all of which we enjoyed heartily, and joyfully took home leftovers for several meals. We recently hosted a 90th birthday party at The Gem by Christopher's. I highly recommend the event space and the catering! The owners and wait staff are so knowledgeable and so accommodating! There were dietary restrictions and they were happy to accommodate them. They helped with set up and electronics and were very responsive through the planning process and the event itself. It's hard to find good brunch during COVID19 quarantine. Today, I ordered take out brunch from Christopher's because Banana Foster French Toast is my guy's favorite and they were having a special!! The owner answered the call and was extremely nice the entire time I was ordering. They have curbside service but I went in to pick our order up. The staff were quick, (very clean with a separate basket for used pens and tables to assure distancing) friendly and positive. They even packed part of my order separately for my grandma so I could easily drop it by her house after I mentioned doing so on the phone. When we unboxed the food, it was all in nice, biodegradable containers and could easily be plated at home to be a wonderful looking brunch. I had the Greek Omelet, a 3 egg omelet with tomatoes, onion, feta and spinach and an English muffin. My guy had the special, banana foster French toast that came with bacon. The topping was packed separately to better keep it for the drive home. He also got the biscuits and gravy. All 3 were wonderful. We also had the cinnamon muffin tin donuts. Yummy!! I ordered the cabbage rolls and carrot cake and was not impressed. the meat in the cabbage rolls was very dense and hard. Everyone makes them differently and it just wasn't how I like them. The carrot cake was really dry and I ended up just eating the icing. read more

The service was excellent and the dinning area was clean and aesthetically pleasing. This was the first time I've been back to Christopher's since they were at the old location. Apparently there is new ownership now, which may be why I didn't recognize any faces in the kitchen. This location has been open too long to have no signage on the deserted looking poke out front. An old catering van sitting underneath is not a good substitute. The sandwich I had was underwhelming. It had very little flavor and was not enhanced by the au jus (even though it was very tasty on its own.) The coleslaw was off in flavor, but fairly fresh. It had potential. Put the prime rib on a hearty slice of bread, add more garlic and horseradish to the sauce, throw on a generous helping of onions and peppers and this would be a sandwich I'd come back for. I really wanted a hearty homeade meal but did not have the hearty energy necessary to prepare it as I am almost nine months pregnant. I decided to give Christopher's a try. I ordered the Pot Roast Stew. It was served over Mashed Potatoes and came with Broccoli, a side salad, and cornbread. It was delicious! It had amazing and balanced flavor and I feel completely satisfied after consuming it. It was a big serving so I didn't finish the entire thing. We choose to come here for breakfast based from positive Yelp reviews. We almost missed it because there was not really any signage for it, except for a catering truck out front. We got there around 10:45am and no one else was there. We were greeted by Nicole and got her opinion on what is most popular. My husband got the Western omelet and a side of bacon. Nicole even asked how he likes his bacon cooked... nice touch! I had the Brisket breakfast skillet. I could only eat about a fourth of the skillet. It was really good (I loved the cornbread on the bottom), but it was big! My husband said his omelet was delicious and we both know we'll come back the next time we are in Dayton! read more

Second time for Sunday breakfast in the past month. Variety on the menu, and small enough that everything we've had has met or exceeded our expectations. Has that warm small town community feel with gracious hosts. Hours are changing for the summer with other special meals at their event center. Watch for changes and reservations on their website. One of the breakfasts was not good, and when we spoke to the manager about it, he took the plate away with no apology. The waitress tried to charge us for the plate we sent back, and when we protested this, the manager said not to pay for any of it. We were uncomfortable with this, and left $20 on the table to cover the 2nd breakfast ordered. We didn't want to be unfair and leave without paying for the breakfast we'd eaten. The interaction made us feel very uncomfortable. This was poor customer service, and we will not be back. It's unfortunate because we went to the original location for years. Christopher's used to be a happy and enjoyable experience , cute inside and the food was good. I recently stoped by the new location. In a stand alone building sits Christopher's. Still looks like they are fixing the place up.on the outside and on the inside, A far cry from its previous situation. I hope they put up partitions and art, knickknacks and such to give it that special feel they had before, They were a great little place with lots of atmosphere, but no were near to where they were before!
