As I was heading towards the door, two women were peeking in and said the place had been remodeled. While I looked at the display case, another woman was at the register to pay but had no cash and no apps to pay as the place is cash or tap only. The two ladies that came in paid for her purchase. How kind is that?? I got my usual fritter, a plain old fashioned for the hubby and a cinnamon sugar malasada. They threw in 3 doughnut hole complimentary! The fritter is thin, had apples and isn't bad. I actually liked that it wasn't thick which can cause it to be gummy or undercooked inside. It was slightly burnt along the edges which can happen because these guys need more fry time. It was lacking cinnamon for me but overall, not bad. Not too sweet either. Happy to come back and get some raised doughnuts to try as well. Plenty of parking in the lot so give this place a try. Please support this local business. read more

My Office wanted donuts, so I dropped into Christy's to grab some. Of course, donuts are one of the things that I really can't resist if they're in front of me, so I had to try one... and a half. They aren't the best donuts I've ever had, but they were pretty good! I definitely wouldn't turn one away. I'm knocking them one star because, even though it was pretty early, I thought the selection wasn't amazing, and they're CASH ONLY. I can't believe I even had cash because I NEVER have cash, and now I DON'T have cash anymore because I spent it on freaking donuts. I work in the area, and I don't know why, but I had a random thought about getting a donut. It'd been about two years since I last had one, so I figured why not. The place was really quiet and not too loud. I ordered a chocolate with sprinkles and I liked it. I also got some donut holes, and they were good. They weren't overly sweet like some other places, and this is a really solid donut place. Their sign says they only take cash, so just be aware. I was doing a grocery run at Smart and Final and wanted to check out this local donut shop. San Ramon already has several solid options in Dainty Donuts, Best Donuts, and even the Safeway Deli. Christys is definitely the smallest among these and there were limited selections when I arrived. I ordered an apple fritter which was just huge and crispy, although definitely more sugary than applely (is that even a word?). Like Best Donuts, they offer a range of breakfast bagel and sandwiches and the coffee is self-serve from Peerless. They are also cash-only. Overall 3 stars. I'd be interested in trying more of their offerings if in the area. So far, I think Dainty Donuts has the consistently larger selection. read more

She was very friendly and said that Christy's has been in business for 37 years, although ownership changed last year. Wow! What a great neighborhood institution. We ordered half a dozen donuts, including several chocolate, a sugar donut, a cinnamon bun and a glazed old fashioned. All of them were dee-licious! The donuts were fresh and fluffy with a subtle buttery taste. In addition to donuts, Christy's also sells muffins, bagels and lottery scratchers. How lucky can one girl be? This is the "Cheers" of donut shops. Lots of regulars and good old fashion donuts. Everyone knows your name. Christy (she also goes by Chaar) the store owner knows 90% of the guests that walk in her door. It's almost like a self service donut shop, people walk in the back get their own donuts and leave money on the counter... Keep the change. There are plenty of seats inside and a few seats outside. Most mornings, there is a group of senior veterans in the back of the shop, discussing the 'good old days'. Big screen tv, California Lottery, donuts, coffee, and you can order breakfast or lunch sandwiches too. I highly recommend dropping by if you want to be human. read more

From 2 to 4 stars. Not bad Christy's! After living here two years, this has now become our go to donut place. That isn't saying much since the next nearest one is Great Donuts in Alamo. Donuts here are definitely better. This place is a tiny hole in the wall and yet it manages to have more variety, better selection, and tastier donuts than Great Donuts. Now that I have tried more donuts here, I find them to be good quality. Maybe the stale donuts the first time I came were a fluke. The donuts are not as good as Dough Boy's in Dublin so maybe it should only get 3 stars. But for convenience, decent variety, friendly service, and surprisingly decent coffee, I'll give it a 4. Also, I love that the same regulars hang out in the back of the shop. I don't come often enough to figure out if they are there every day, but it sure seems so. Update: Wanted to mention that they have French Crullers here. Two types. One with strawberry icing, one with plain vanilla. My favorite place for donuts in the east bay. They have a nice assortment of donuts and pastries as well a solid selection of drinks. Like to gamble? They have scratchers, so go all in! Cash only, but they do have an atm machine if your running late and can't stop by a bank. Very little seating, but what would you expect from a donut shop.
