This place is such a hidden gem, it's in the cuts of Walnut Creek you wouldn't just stumble upon it. When I remember, which would be after work or in the late afternoon when they are closed or sold out of bread. All that to say...Go early and call ahead. I was smart to go on a Sunday afternoon, it was busy and had a good 15-20 minute wait time but it was worth the wait. We met at 11am and luckily it wasn't too busy. A quick glance of the interior found no major changes since my last visit. Pricing remained very reasonable, with most offerings below $11. We ordered two sandwiches at the counter - a #1 Italian Sub and a #16 Tri-Tip Sandwich. With a couple drinks, the total was about $28. The staff we encountered were friendly and efficient. By the time I finished paying the cashier, the line was out the door. I had the #16 and it was good as usual. It had a decent amount of juicy and flavorful sliced tri-tip. With melted cheese and all the fixings on a garlic ciabatta, it really hit the spot. George seemed to like his sandwich as well. Morucci's is still one of my favorite sandwich spots in the East Bay. You can definitely share a sandwich or save half for later. We've been here a few times. It's been awhile since my last trip to Morucci's. My wife saw an Instagram video and wanted to try the Rueben for lunch. I decided to get the Italian sandwich for dinner. I substituted the hot coppa for ham which they did, no problem. My wife liked the Rueben, said the ingredients blended nicely. She is not a big eater so the meat and produce portioning was perfect for her. The 3 meat Italian sub with the produce on a ciabatta roll turned out tasty. Ever since Maggoria Breads went out of business it has been hard to find rolls that are light, fluffy that don't fill you up. Morucci's ciabatta roll was light with a little chewiness to it. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the sandwiches but I did of the menu to show latest pricing. If you haven't been to Morucci's, there is a counter to order, then you go to the Cashier to pay and either wait inside or outside for the staff to call your name. There is more room to wait outside but sometimes it is difficult to hear the name being called. They have good sandwiches so if I'm I. The neighborhood, I'll drop in. The lines for ordering and paying aren't bad but the back-up occurs making all of the orders. I waited about 35 minutes but I wasn't in a rush. Around noon, we drove past the shop and saw a huge crowd outside waiting for their orders. It's street parking only for Morucci's so you may need to circle the block a few times to find parking. My wife ordered the #1, the Italian, and I went with the #16, the tri-tip. It was a tough choice since so many of the sandwich options sounded delicious, like a BLT on Dutch crunch. These days, finding a filling sandwich for around $10 feels almost impossible. The Italian was packed with a great variety of cold cuts, a nice tang from the pickled peppers, and a satisfying crunch from the shredded lettuce. I especially enjoyed the pesto sauce smeared across the top bun of the sandwich. The tri-tip sandwich had a bold horseradish flavor I really enjoyed, though it was a bit messy--big slices of steak made it tricky to get even bites, and I ended up pulling out chunks of meat with each bite.
