Great breakfast sandwiches, donuts and drinks! The iced green tea is what you would expect at a fancy coffee house (even has crushed ice!!!), for half the price. I love the donuts here! I am forever searching for the perfect donut or at least the best donut I can find! The donuts here are delicious. They are light and airy, not too sweet and not at all sour smelling or tasting as soon as they hit your stomach ( I hate when that happens! ) . I always try the sugar twist and maple bar, classics that are easily and often missed. Usually I eat half of each one if they're decent, sometimes I can only take one bite, and sometimes I spit that bite out.. I have a sensitive palate and its a lot more than sweet = Mmmm for me. Yea it gets annoying. I ate BOTH donuts! And I wanted more donuts.. and I wasn't even a little hungry. Thats a big deal! Yup they were THE BEST donuts by far that I have ever tried. I love this place. I got a bunch of donuts, and I just discovered their iced green tea, Thai tea and iced coffee. I am usually very picky about my coffee and Thai tea especially and I normally don't even like the one from Starbucks. On a recent Saturday morning, while out running errands with my two sons, we stopped by Christy's Donuts. The nice man behind the counter, boxed up a half dozen for us. I handed him my ATM card and he said, "We don't accept cards. You can pay me next time..." Ironically, this was the first time we visited Christy's Donuts. How did he know that I would return? This kind gesture of TRUST, left quite an impression. Great customer service too. I've shared this story with many local friends and they all shared similar stories and raved about Christy's Donuts. Best doughnuts in town! I've been coming here for years, and I've always found the staff welcoming and helpful. Now they call me by name, and always know exactly what I want. Okay so back to this place! The elder Asian man had slim pickings on donuts because it was 10 minutes to closing... BUT, after we all chose our favorites, he gave us another six complimentary donuts! My sister always brings a dozen from here for my parents whenever she comes to visit and I end up eating most of them myself. The jelly filled ones are generously filled unlike Krispy Kreme where there's hardly anything inside. My favorites are the Boston creme filled ones and their fruit and cream cheese filled croissants. I was an hour early for an appointment and decided to pop in over here. It reminded me a little bit of the Dunkin Donuts shops back in IL. It's not super high tech. It's a seasoned shop. Standard pricing. Sweet employees that won't bother you but are personable if you did want to chat. I walked in to see an elderly gentleman reading his paper. I asked about if the long maple ones had custard as well.. the customer told me he would tell me about all of them but to go with the round chocolate covered ones for custard. By far best donut place ever, the owners are extremely nice and caring. I went the other day to sadly find out they were really struggling to COVID'19, please go and support, their food is just amazing, they don't have the fame they deserve. I adore this place. I've been living and working in Monrovia for about 15 years and I would usually go to the AM donut place on Huntington (mostly because I was a night owl for most of my life) and this place just seemed like nothing special from the outside. HOWEVER!!! I finally stopped in after another dense lame donut from AM made me irritated that I wasted the calories on it. I've always felt that yeast donuts are easy to get right and most places taste the same in that area, but what really sets a donut shop apart in my opinion is their cake donuts. When they're average or not great they are always the least favorite in a variety box. When they're done really well I cannot control myself around them. When it comes to sweets I never finish an entire serving of anything. A few bites of a candy bar, maybe half a donut, a few Skittles, then it sits in my snack cupboard until it's so old no one wants to eat it and it gets tossed. This place? Oh sweet chocolate christ, this place. I have never in all my life had such a good cake donut. I have, at least twice in the last three weeks, eaten three of them to myself in one sitting with a nice cold glass of milk. They are so tender and delicate and soft with just this wonderful light crispyness on the outside and not too sweet but sweet enough to make you smile. My favorite has been the chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting and coconut flakes. The yeast donuts are no slouches either. They, almost literally, melt in your mouth. I don't know what kind of black magic crazyness they do in their cooking process, but it is possible they're wizards. On top of them being some of the best donuts I've ever had, the owners are seriously the nicest people and they make it such a warm place considering it isn't much to look at. Christy's used to be the best donut place around. For more than twenty years I ate their delicious donut holes. You see, Christy's was one of the few donut stores in the area that still made donut holes with cake batter (the same used to make all of the small round donuts with the hole in the middle, such as plain glazed or pink sprinkles). Cake batter donut holes are like miniature donuts with sprinkles, crumb, and plain glazed varieties. They have recently switched to the presumably cheaper (and cheaper tasting) donut holes that most of the other area donut stores make, which are made with the same dough used to make the light and airy donuts like cinnamon rolls and maple bars. The variety is also gone. You now have the choice of glazed or no donut holes for you. I am sad to have lost a menu item I have been eating for over 20 years. read more
