As a California native, I'm so glad to have found a Chronic Tacos not far from home! I hate that we are just now finding them as they've been open for 2 years, but we ate there 3 times this week to make up for being late to the party. Today, we met the owner who was super nice and as a bonus, he's from my hometown in Cali. They generous portions unlike a somewhat similar place we all know that also starts with C. Their proteins and options also blow that other place out of the water! My picky kids are now pretty much addicted to the carnitas here. I had a nice dinner here with my friend recently. The staff was very friendly and apologetic when I had to wait a few minutes for veggies for my veggie bowl-rito (they had just run out and were making more). My food was okay. It was a good portion and it was filling, but it wasn't very flavorful to me. My friend really liked her chicken burrito, so it may be that the rice and beans aren't seasoned very much, but the meat is. Adding Baja sauce definitely helped my bowl out. I'll probably try this place again, but next time I'll get meat to see if there's more flavor. read more

I stopped into this restaurant on a whim. I was great by John, who graciously reviewed the menu with me and how to order. At his recommendation, i ordered street tacos and added the Baja sauce. The prices were very economical and John packaged my order to go as requested. When I got to my hotel room and took my first bite, I was hooked. Ordered a small fish burrito, chicken quesadilla, chicken nachos, and a small order of tots online and picked it up. Had to order the small tots when I got there because it wasn't available to order online. I had the small grilled fish burrito and it was still pretty big. They have alot of topping options to choose from on their website. The burrito was pretty good, no complaints there, except the guac had busted out. The chicken quesadilla was not bad. I requested the chips be separated for the nachos and they didn't do it. The chips were oily and soggy. And they also put chips in the same box as the chicken quesadilla; it was weird and chips were soggy. The tots were good. It was crispy and wasn't overly salted. Not sure this place deserves the 4.5 stars it has right now, maybe it'll be better if I dine in. read more

If you go out west tacos have French fries. This is the only place we have found that has a California Burrito"! It's a huge burrito with French fries! The staff is always really friendly. Just left my food at the table that my husband brought home. I did not like the chicken at all. I'm a very picky meat eater. I only eat chicken breast and unfortunately the chicken at Chronic Tacos is from every part of the chicken. And I simply did not enjoy the taste. Also the bowl was cold and we live a mile away from the restaurant. My husband tried to offer me tacos and the tacos were iced cold. Needless to say I had to eat cereal for dinner. I didn't realize when I placed the order it was through grubhub. Anyway, I'm told they are busy but my order should be ready in 1/2 hour. I get there, they didn't have my order, then I'm told they have to make the shrimp tacos fresh. I'm annoyed but ok, their busy. After another 15 minutes, I'm told they don't know when it will be. I wait another 15 minutes ask again I know they are busy just checking to see if they started my order. No luck. with three hungry young kids waiting at home I for tacos, I speak to who I'm told is the manager and cancel my order. He tells me he'll reach out in a few days to make things right. An apology would have been cool. Over a week later no contact. Cool. Yum! We were were in North Point Mall and were given a $5 coupon for this place so we decided to check it out. It was really good. My husband had the California Burrito on the owner's suggestion and I had the Beer Battered Fish Taco. Both were great, very flavorful. This is a really great spot. The food is delicious and the portions are right on for the price - not too much, not too little. I was fortunate enough to meet the owner who is third generation Mexican American. He is from Cerritos, CA which is next to Downey, CA where I used to live. Small world. The food here is definitely authentic and prepared with that Cali love that makes So-Cal so special and one of the best food scenes in the world. I tried a couple different tacos, but I'm mostly in love with that mahi-mahi fish taco. Perfectly crispy on the outside and warm and flaky on the inside.
