As a longtime vegan and someone who absolutely loves Thai food, I can honestly say this is one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to--not just in East Harlem, but anywhere in New York City. Every dish I've had here has been outstanding. The vegetables are always incredibly fresh, the flavors are vibrant and authentic, and it's clear that a lot of care goes into every plate that leaves the kitchen. Finding a restaurant that consistently delivers this level of quality is rare, and Chu Ros Thai does it every single time. The staff is warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, which makes the entire experience even better. You never feel rushed, and they always make you feel like they're happy you're there. And if you're vegan, do yourself a favor and order the Thai iced tea made with coconut milk. It's one of my favorite drinks in the entire city and the perfect complement to an already amazing meal. I've eaten Thai food all over New York, and Chu Ros Thai has earned a permanent spot at the top of my list. When I saw the restaurant sign encircled with vines and flowers and the lanterns and plants adorning the ceiling, I knew that I was going to like this place before I tasted the food. The food did not disappoint. We had the chicken curry puffs, vegetable dumplings, tom kha soup, pineapple fried rice with chicken, and the massaman curry with salmon. We loved our meal. My friend and I came here for a late lunch. I fell in love with the beautiful decor, as well as the warm and cozy ambiance. On the wall, there is lit up green script, featuring the words: Dinner is better when we eat together! There was lush greenery, blooming flower lights, white flowers and elegant drapery overhead. I had the Thai Iced Coffee, which was smooth, creamy, and strong. For my entree, I ordered the Crispy Duck with flat noodles. The Duck skin was satisfyingly crispy, well seasoned, while the meat was tender and juicy. Flat noodles were perfectly cooked, packing plenty of flavor. Service was lovely. First Impressions: not applicable, I ordered delivery The Noms: Coconut Sticky Rice - I ordered this assuming it would be like the sticky rice that accompanies mango sticky rice... but it was sooo dry. I don't know if they forgot the coconut sauce that usually comes with it... but do not order, get the mango sticky rice (I would have done this but it's not in season and not available in January) or the lychee sticky rice Coconut pudding - delicious... sweet but not too sweet, creamy and deeply coconut. 10/10 would order again Drunken Noodles: forgot to take a picture because I was so hungry I scarfed it down... very good, not as greasy as some other Thai places. Perfect amount of spice level and the chicken was generous. The portions were huge and I had enough left over for dinner later In Conclusion: 10/10 would recommend and likely will order again. If I had ordered the coconut sticky rice in house, I would have asked for a side of the coconut sauce... that would have made it perfect... or at least not as dry. There is a lot of sauce on the pad thai. I actually wished they put less sauce, so the dish wouldn't be so heavy. I think this dish was a 3 star. The soft shell crab, not on the lunch special, was delicious. It had real crab mixed in with the curry and egg sauce. It definitely has a good kick to it as well. We opted to pay the extra $2 for coconut rice and it was totally worth it. It was a nice contrast between sweet rice and spicy crab. This was definitely a 4 or 5 star dish. The food here is decent. Customer service can be improved tremendously. I ordered egg plant garbed and drunken noodle. It was the spiciest ever. It didn't indicate that these dishes come Spicy and when I questioned the spice, host/server said yes it comes two levels spice. Not once while ordering was I asked what level of spice I wanted. There was no attempt to rectify or correct the matter. I couldn't even eat the food and ended up throwing it away $46 dollars gone to waste. In addition to this the restaurant has a B grade. I ignored the baby roach I saw crawling on the brown chair that sits facing outward to the window when you sit and wait for your dine out/to go food (cause I figured most restaurants have a lil something something crawling around. This Saturday i spent looking for brunch after a tragic ending of not being allowed to dine at a restaurant nearby... After a quick yelp search, and a rec my friend said she'd been here and the food was good. It wasn't too far from my original location. So we made the quick drive to this place. LED signs of cute phrases that all the girls love lol. They also have an indoor/outdoor vibe when the main window fully opens and disappears. It was perfect for the beautiful weather we had last weekend. The food was okay. I've never had udon noodles as the base for my drunken noodles, but it wasn't the worst. I do feel like the other noodles catches and holds the sauce a bit better, but all in all it wasn't bad. I ordered it with crispy chicken because they didn't have a pork option. The lemon drop martinis were on happy hour special for $10. I wanted a specialty tequila so with my Casamigos lemon drop it was $14. Not bad, it was strong too. The service could've been better. I feel like they were really understaffed. They had 1 bartender for 10 tables, and all the tables were filled. He was also taking orders for food also. Towards the end of our meal, we saw another person finally come out and help a bit. But by that time we were ready to go. So I'm giving the service a 3. He did pretty well to be working alone. There's something about East Harlem and Thai food, it seems. This is another one of a great Thai restaurant in the area, albeit with a much more "full" menu. Excellent spring rolls, chicken wings, shrimp mango salad with jasmine rise, Thai fried rice, pork Tom yum noodle soup, tally jua prik gula, pad see ew (beef). I really had no issue with any dish from here so far. It's a small restaurant, but with a colorful and instagrammable vibe, and a counter for take-outs which seems to be a popular choice here. I had a blast at this restaurant. I went with a group of friends on a Saturday night and had a reservation I had to make adjustments to the morning of and the hostess was so kind and understanding. When we arrived early, our table of 8 was perfectly setup and they were patient and attentive as our group trickled in. The food was amazing! Each person in our group got different appetizers, entrees and desserts (a few people ordering meals to go) and we were able to taste each other's stuff because the portions were so good, the flavors were on point. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks with no complaints and the food came out superrr fast. The lychee drink (I'm blanking on the name) was the star of the night!
