I was not too hungry but I did not want to eat late. I had the homemade ginger ale which was refreshing and relatively large and pretty! I wanted to ordered the entire dumplings menu but I had settled for two types of dumplings. Pac-Man Shrimp Dumplings - four shrimp dumplings where each dumpling had a shrimp with a different filling. One of the dumplings had a lobster filling which I requested to have substituted with a different filling. This dish ultimately had two shrimp dumplings mixed with bamboo shoots, one shrimp dumpling mixed with mushroom and one shrimp dumpling mixed with king crab. Another fun addition to the dish was a sweet potato tempura that resembled Pac Man dipped in guacamole. The steamed shrimp dumplings were well made definitely elevated with lots of fresh fillings. Definitely worth ordering. I also ordered the fried oxtail dumplings which were amazing and freshly made. Another dish worth trying especially that there are not many oxtail dumplings in NYC restaurants (at least not to my knowledge). I'd definitely return to try other items on the menu.

Last night, a Saturday, we came in for an anniversary celebratory dinner at what has become one of our favorite NYC spots: Redfarm has simply elevated Chinese takeout foods and dim sum to an upscale dining experience. This was our third visit overall, and the second to the upper west side location, and we've consistently been provided great food, drinks, and service. Drinks: Le Club hot - spicy cucumber margarita, made balanced and perfectly, hands-down a favorite Wet & Sandia - like a watermelon mojito but made with tequila, a bit on the sweeter side Food: (favorites) Hot & Sour Soup with Shrimp - so, so good. The soup is filled to the brim with mushrooms and hot sour soup goodness, and the broth is full of flavor that you'll be wanting every last drop. Filet mignon and broccoli - an upscale take on beef and broccoli , with meat that is nicely cooked but tender and overall delicious Udon noodles with grilled short ribs - tender, flavorful bone-in short ribs in a hefty portion of delicious udon noodles and vegetables Jumbo shrimp and cashews, XO sauce - also loved this one, portions are large, plenty of cashews and vegetables in a well done light sauce and six jumbo shrimp While you can't go wrong with any of the dumplings, we enjoyed the pan fried pork buns, the pan-fried shrimp, corn, and chive dumplings, and the pork and crab soup dumplings. Of the three, the soup dumplings were our favorite and we'd definitely get them again. Desserts: Ice cream sandwich - while they look small in photos, and have a mundane name, we loved the various ice cream in the dish and all four flavors were well made. Truly delectable. Key lime pie slice - RedFarm sent us this for our celebratory dinner - as normally key lime pie is not on our radar. Served with a scoop of lemon sorbet, this was solid and hit all the right spots. With a cute farmhouse vibe and overall great service from the entire team (they all work together seamlessly) - keep RedFarm on your shortlist when you want Chinese food and want to kick it up a notch. It's not an inexpensive meal by any means, but worth a stop for sure. Added bonus: if you use the inKind app, you can get cash back and/or bonus bucks (through inKind) to spend in inKind restaurants, including RedFarm!

The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. For our entrees, my mother ordered the Pad Thai, and my father and I ordered the Pho Bó. My mom absolutely loved the Pad Thai! The Pho Bó was incredible. The broth was so delectable, and it was honestly the best broth that I have ever had. The portions were also incredible, especially for the price and being in the city! Once we received the check, we noticed that next to the Pho Bó, it stated that it is Michelin Recommended, and we completely understand why! We are looking forward to going back!

First, its located off Columbus Ave steps from the corner of a quaint and quiet residential W 82nd St. There are 4 large steps out front, so be mindful if you or a member of your party has mobility issues. The steps feel a bit taller than traditional height but these buildings are over 100 years old so just be mindful when walking. They are navigatable with a cane and someone to assist, as we did for a member of our party. The interior of this location is beautiful. There is a bar area at the front and large hibachi seating just beyond to accommodate large groups. The staff are friendly, professional and personable, with our chef providing his spin on the usual hibachi chef performances. Aside from the standard onion volcano, sake spray, food toss and egg catch trick, our chef did a few gags I'd never seen performed at any hibachi place we've visited. The food was good and the service was great. The lobster tail and scallops I ordered were delicious. I was disappointed that it did not come with noodles or fried rice like some other spots include, you needed to pay $6 extra which was steep for the amount of rice you got. The noodle portion, however, was very generous. The appetizers were also quite small, with options for salad, soup, tofu, and/or two potstickers. Food overall was well seasoned. I would return if in the area.

This restaurant sits comfortably on the middle of the block and definitely looks like it's been there for a while. I think for over 30 years? Yes I came for the fried chicken and green sauce. They have a $15.50 lunch special but ended up picking up dinner since I was finally in the area. The #12 Crackling Chicken (white meat) w/ Pork Fried Rice is $26. The portion is Very Generous! Literally 6 large pieces of chicken breast (split open thinly & battered). I made sure to ask for the green sauce & they gave me a little bag of 3 containers. It's a kind of cilantro garlic herby aoli. I always expect a kind of Mama's Empanadas (Colombian) spicy version, but this (maybe Peruvian?) will always be mayo-forward? It's tasty, but nothing *So special - better than the Chino Peruvian place in my Queens neighborhood; but idk it's mayo. For some reason they gave me a House Special Fried Rice instead of the Pork Fried Rice that comes with the order. This was excellent! (Haven't had American-style Chinese Food in years...cuz when you grow up selling quality versions of it...) Had large cubes of seared! ham, char sui (Roast Pork) & bouncy shrimp. Nice umami undertones. About the chicken - it was good, medium crispy, medium juicy, slightly brined & well made. BUT - it's Just Fried Chicken. TBH after a few bites, I wonder if they're inspired by Popeyes. The chicken meat is better than Popeyes, but overall that's what it reminded me of (& Popeyes does a good job btw). IDK - I was influenced to expect some kind of special seasoning with the chicken, maybe a Chinese salt & pepper blend? I wonder if I'd like the bone-in chicken / dark meat option more. I recommend this combo meal, would be interested in seeing how their other dishes are if I had a group to eat with. Happy to support a small business. I froze the other 3 chicken pieces for a future meal. Wonder if one of the little green sauces freezes well too. The restaurant feels really homey and was full on a 6:30 PM on a Sunday. But people didn't seem to have to wait too long. There were a few customers waiting for to-go orders alongside me at the front bar area. It's funny when the young staff acts abruptly rude "How many!", but you know they're 2nd Gen. hope this business sticks around for many more years, very 80's - 90's Chinese American Latin feel!

Happy New Year! In…read morecase you were wondering where I was after a three and a half week absence, I had to attend to some personal matters, but I am back and here to get 2026 off the mat with someplace I have never been to. Conveniently located only a short walk from the 72nd Street station on the 1/2/3, this restaurant follows the same model as La Caridad 72. Chinese/Cuban cuisine, mixed in with other dishes from South America. These are two cuisines that are integral to the human condition. Do not frown upon this combo, or you will instantly regret it. As I got here at the tail end of their lunch rush, I was given a lunch menu, so I ordered a wonton soup, with a chicken lo mein with a side of plantains. Got all that? Unfortunately, the wonton soup lacks a little here. The wontons fall apart and the soup has little character. It does come with several wontons as well as a side of crispy wonton strips, and some duck sauce, but overall it was an underwhelming soup. The duck sauce and wonton strips were a great way to set up the main dish, much like peanuts at a bar. They also allowed my stomach to reset in order to get ready for the heavy stuff. Lo mein is not heavy by any means, but combined with the plantains really created an excellent combination. The noodles are good perfectly, the chicken has tons of flavor, and the plantains are cooked to perfection with an outstanding taste and texture. I will eat these anywhere, anytime. The portion is nice too for a lunch meal. I did not feel shortchanged at all. The menu has other offerings that tried to seduce me into staying longer and having a more expensive bill. Any other time I would have caved like a 18 year old at a strip club. Thankfully I have more restraint than that, so I just asked for the check, paid, and walked out. As I speak some Spanish, I was hoping to use this skill there, but I read the room and saw that this was not the arena to do that. Oh well. There is a time and place for everything. Now I have to make some time for a return visit. If a visit to this restaurant was any indication, I think 2026 is going to be a unique year for me.

We tried the mixed ceviche (squid, fish, octopus), 1/2 fried chicken with plantains, and 1/2 rotisserie chicken with fried rice. I would highly recommend all three of these dishes. The ceviche was fresh, simple, and very refreshing; it's a small portion and meant to be shared as an appetizer. Both types of chickens were very flavorful and moist.
