The meat was mostly tender and flavorful. I liked the nuoc mam, it was good. Cha gio (egg rolls): a bit overdone, the egg rolls tasted a bit burnt, but it was still good. "Good Vietnamese food is hard to find" -- a sentiment I wholeheartedly agree with. I've tried several other restaurants in Manhattan that have not exceeded my discerning tastes. That is, until I tried Vietnaam. Vietnaam really just does it for me. My favorite dish is their spicy beef pho with vermicelli noodles. Served with chili-infused broth and topped with slivers of brisket, the soup is meaty, garlicky, with just enough spice to add a slight kick without overwhelming the senses. I haven't tried their bahn mi yet, which I regret now after hearing how delicious it is. My husband contends it's the best bahn mi he's ever had. Because the restaurant is under renovation, you can only order via pick-up or delivery. As of the writing of this review, if you opt for pick-up, you will receive a 10% discount for each item. First of all the speed of the delivery was incredible. About 15 minutes. In order to reach their minimum of $25 for a delivery I had to add something to my Pho Udon soup, so I added an extra order of Udon noodles (which I can always use since they deliver so much soup!) and some Garlic Chive Shrimp dumplings and with 15% tip was $33+. My surprise came when I tried one of the dumplings dipped in their hot dipping sauce !! To say the dumplings were superb would be a great understatement - they're ORGASMIC !!! I used to visit this restaurant in person, but now it seems they operate exclusively through delivery. It's a great spot for Vietnamese comfort food, offering a wide variety of dishes. We ordered the shrimp dumplings, which were plump and reminded me of har gow dim sum. I wish the bread on crispy shrimp sandwich (bánh mì) had been lighter. For me, that's an important key for a solid bánh mì. The shrimp bún xào and beef fried rice were both solid choices. They are now takeout only post-COVID but it seems to be going well - the prices have remained pretty consistent and the portions are solid. We have come back to give their pho another try as well as venture into some of the other dishes like the laksa and new Bo Kho, both of which are excellent. The Bo Ko is a must-try, if they have it, as the beef is tender and the soup base flavorful but not heavy and overly salty. I would recommend getting it with a side of baguette and udon as you will likely have enough soup for both and it is quite delish so you would not want to waste a drop. The laksa is lighter than the traditional Singapore version BUT I enjoy this version as it satisfies a craving without feeling heavy - I could drink the soup (and do, in fact). If you order for pickup and during weekday lunch, you get 10% off for each. Worth a visit! read more

Yes, it's a bit more on the pricey side for Pho but overall the taste was decent, especially when the weather feels like 31 degrees outside and we didn't want to go across town. Guys, please this isn't orange county pho so of course the flavor isn't as strong, just decent to get back but not a cure for hangover that for sure. Banh mi was the highlight, that grilled pork was really good, I asked for less carrots and more cucumbers with sauce on the side, not a fan of soggy banh mi and this was perfect. Their thai tea is WOW. Being Vietnamese from California and regularly exposed to SJ/LA/OC viet food (iykyk), I'm generally not impressed by a lot of pho in NYC. Except for this place! My favorite pho in the UES! Both the beef and chicken pho broth are authentically southern, and they don't skimp on the meat portions in the pho. My boyfriend and I order just the broth by itself quite often to sip. I'm also a huge fan of bun thịt gà nướng but sometimes I just want a macro-friendly option and love that they have a chicken salad variation with a creative spin on it. And everything is so reasonably priced. This is literally the only place I consistently order from, at least once a week. Note: they are takeout or delivery only, no dine-in, but always a seamless ordering and pickup experience! This was a college staple for me while I was living in Manhattan. Unfortunately they only accept takeout orders, so I can't comment on the ambiance. What I can say is that the food is phenomenal despite being packaged in to-go containers. Restaurant taste in the comfort of your own home. What you need to try is their Banh Mi. They have a long list of options (proteins) for the sandwich from fish to traditional cold cuts to pork belly. Get the pork belly. Seriously, I get it every time. On a cold day or night their warm soups and noodle dishes are just the perfect comfort. On my most recent visit I ordered Chicken Show Mee. It came with a generous portion of crispy pan fried egg noodles, and in a separate container, sautéed chicken in a flavorful sauce with bok choy, broccoli, scallion and mushrooms. We split the papaya salad with grilled shrimp to start. The shrimp were well grilled. I didn't love the salad, but my wife thought it was pretty good. She had spinach dumplings as a main, which she liked. I ordered beef pho. I like that it came deconstructed so that the beef cooked after it was reconstituted. Starting with the summer rolls, they were made with iceberg lettuce, which felt low-grade and lacked freshness. The dipping sauce was overwhelmingly salty, to the point that it overpowered the roll rather than complementing it. The pho broth itself was good and had depth, which was the strongest part of the meal. Unfortunately, the accompaniments fell short. The jalapeños appeared to be canned, and the bean sprouts were soggy, both of which detracted from what could have been a much better bowl. To add to the experience, there was no indoor seating available due to renovations. With temperatures below freezing, having to wait in a booth-style setup without proper indoor warmth made the visit uncomfortable. Overall, while the broth showed promise, the experience as a whole was underwhelming. From ingredient quality to balance and basic customer comfort, there are several areas where improvement would make a meaningful difference. What was once a terrific neighborhood restaurant now looks like an eyesore and blight in the spot its still in. I don't get it. The owners of this place shut it down in 2020 due to the pandemic for delivery and take out only. Now here we are two years later and it's still the same and hasn't resumed normal dine in and outside seating. Even though every other restaurant and bar are back to normal operations for the past year. It's like they don't want to hire back their staff or something. Oh, and the place looks horrible. Like an episode of Hoarders. There are boxes and assorted supplies and trash piled high in the windows. Why are they doing this? I would not trust eating from here at this point. I'd like to contact them directly, but they don't seem to have direct contact on this page (besides their phone number). Anyway, I went with my friends and we got bobas and iced coffees. Mine seemed fine, but then I got to the bottom where there was something that looked like a hair or small rope-- very disgusting!! And moreover, they had some sign at their establishment a our charging an extra 25-75 cents for hot sauce, which is ridiculous. I don't even like hot sauce, but this clearly shows bad business practice. Why wouldn't they just raise their entree prices by 20 cents each to recover the cost of free hot sauce? Very odd... My husband and I discovered this gem right before Covid which was always packed to eat inside, but was a great spot. Post Covid they still aren't open for indoor or outdoor dining, just takeout.
