We arrived right at opening and were the first ones there on Saturday morning. We were then greeted by our server who adequately taught us how everything works. Pretty simple, there are different tiers and each tier offers something different. Of course, we went for the top diamond tier which includes all-you-can-eat Japanese and Australian wagyu, unlimited appetizers and pretty much everything on the menu was unlimited at that tier. Starting off with all 4 of the appetizers offered, the bone marrow was quite amazing. Rich, buttery and tasted great, fresh off the grill. The wagyu nigiri was a favourite of ours. The rice was nicely seasoned and we couldn't get enough. The wagyu tartare was nice, and we wished we were served the toasted bread from the bone marrow rather than the chips. Unfortunately, the sweet shrimp wasn't too fresh. The heads showed signs of blackening, and it tasted close to the end of its shelf life. The thinly sliced wagyu was exquisite. We tried not only the Japanese wagyu, but the Australian wagyu as well, and we kept ordering tray after tray of it. The seafood bowl that came with our tier was a nice touch. I can't say I was a huge fan of the king crab that was offered. These were the end and knuckle pieces that didn't have much meat in them. These could have been skipped as amazing as king crab sounds. As for the vegetables and sides, they were fresh and really added to our hot pot experience. Overall, coming in at $90/per person, I feel this is a steal. An amazing price point to eat unlimited rich, buttery, marbled beef. We also found our server to be very attentive which was greatly appreciated. We did not wait long in between ordering more items and when they arrived which is a huge plus. read more

Out of all the Chubby Cattle locations I've been to, the Philly location was unfortunately a disappointment. The beef was the highlight it was very fresh and good quality. However, the quality of most of the other ingredients was pretty poor and noticeably below what I've experienced at other Chubby Cattle locations. For the price and based on my previous experiences with Chubby Cattle, I expected much better overall quality and consistency. Chubby Cattle in Philadelphia Chinatown was a great experience for an all you can eat wagyu hotpot. We chose the basic menu, and even that tier felt like a solid upgrade from a typical hotpot place. The wagyu brisket had really nice marbling and held up well in the broth. It was flavorful, tender, and didn't break apart as easily as lower quality cuts sometimes do. A standout for me was the wagyu ground meat served over rice. It felt almost like a little wagyu donburi moment within a hotpot meal, and it was surprisingly satisfying. There were plenty of meat choices to rotate through and a good amount of vegetables, mushrooms, and other add-ins to build a balanced pot and not feel overwhelmed by just meat. Overall, the ingredients tasted fresh, the service was consistent, and the value for the basic tier was better than expected. I would come back, especially to try the higher menu tiers next time. I came here for lunch with friends and thought that the meal was alright. Having tried the Chubby group in LA and NYC, this spot was very underwhelming. The interior of the restaurant is smaller than I expected, the side bar was also a bit limited, and service was spotty/slow (a couple of our items didn't arrive, so we had to ask for them multiple times). We did their silver tier and it was alright. The meat quality was a bit gamey and after a while, it didn't taste very good. Their seafood and veggies weren't bad quality though. We got the diamond tier menu and honestly it is very pricey, but it was definitely worth the experience for me. I've had shabu in Japan and I felt that this was just as good or even better. The only issue for me was I think there was a slight water leak as it was very near me. The best parts of the menu are definitely all the premium ones we got, we did try the non premiums and they were still good. All the premium meats had this beautiful marbling and it was amazing to eat each piece. I think I liked the Japanese wagyu over the Australian just a bit more, but do definitely try Australian! I generally don't get a lot of seafood at shabu, but the platter had really good scallop and fish. We had a few orders of those and they were fresh and soft every time. Our favorite bite was actually the wagyu nigiri, maybe because it was our first bite of food after a flight and we haven't eaten all day. I came here with a group of 9. We were seated in 2 separate tables, which is alright. The meat quality wasn't bad. All the meat were thin cut, which shorten the cooking time. Texture and taste the A5 ribeye definitely win. We had trouble differentiating the shoulder cut vs the brisket though. Overall the meal wasn't bad, but will we purposely return, probably not. At this Japanese hotpot place, there are 4 levels of ayce wagyu meat, with the lowest level only includes American wagyu, and the highest has American, Australian, and Japanese wagyu. Besides, levels 2-4 also let you order specialty dish like nigiri, tartare, and bone marrow, which taste good. The sukiyaki broth tastes good and is on the sweeter side while the spicy miso broth is kinda bland. For meat, Aus wagyu is overall more tender. They only have 3 cuts of beef: brisket and chuck ribeye are equally as good with brisket has a bit more fat; shoulder has least fat and not as good to me. They also have chicken and pork which actually look pretty good but we did not try. Veggie and other things options are pretty limited. They have an area for you to get sauce, sides, and dessert but a couple things were not available and milk tea tastes bad. I like this place! This was my first real hot pot experience, so I was definitely excited to dine here. For one price ($40 if I'm not mistaken), you get all the ingredients you want plus unlimited sushi. I mean who can resist? The sushi was pretty good for being all-you-can-eat, and all the cuts of meat they provided us with were super flavorful and cooked well in the broth. I was pleased with their selection of ingredients as well, and there's something for everybody, from carnivores to vegans. My only complaint was that one of the seats at our table was broken, and the temperature/thermostat was not working correctly for that particular hotpot. Came here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Not busy at all and we had the restaurant all to ourselves. Ordering was easy as we were provided a tablet and the food came out really fast. We did the all you can eat hot pot and sushi for $38.99/ person. There is a conveyor belt that goes around for the sushi, although the choices on there were quite limited. If you want other options, you would need to order from the tablet. I'm not sure if it was because it was a slower day, but something to keep in mind if you go during the same time. There were a few different soup bases for the hot pot. We posted the tomato ox tail and the sukiyaki. First thing I noticed with the tomato ox tail was there was no ox tail. No ox tail in both the flavoring nor the actual ox tail. It just felt like a regular tomato broth. The sukiyaki was extremely salty. Options were plenty, with wagu, brisket, pork belly, different mushrooms, different tofu, seafood options, noodles, the list goes on. You can also order appetizers, fried rice, etc, all of which are included in the price. Also, the sauce tray they bring out is quite convenient. A Party of 2 dined in on Friday evening Around 5:15 pm, I called to see if we could reserve the table but was told that reservations are available for only four or more groups of people And they were not busy at the moment. My friend arrived first while I was struggling to find a park since it's street parking in busy Chinatown They told my friend that there was one hour and half limit for dining and they would start the clock 10 minutes after she sat. I wanted to sit on the first stair but they said there was about an hour wait for the first story, but in the second story, there was some sitting available. We had no choice but to sit there. (there is no conveyor belt upstairs) At each table, there was a tablet that you could use to place an order Upstairs was set up more for family, so the hot pot was not individually set up. My friend and I picked a pot separated into two parts to have individual broth on each side. We placed a bunch of orders, but regardless how many portions we ordered, they brought small quantities. I had to ask them to get extra Due to a system error, our sushi and roll order did not go in, so they had to fix that There was sauce platter that goes around to serve all tables.... so the server had to take it from us to serve other tables and bring us back, etc The table behind us was there longer than us, but the server came to us and informed us that the time was over but would extend 15 more minutes and wouldn't charge a fee for leftover food. I usually would have been more upset about inconvenience, rules and restrictions, But the service was good! Basically, it's a large pot of boiling broth, and you cook meats, vegetables, and other items in it while dipping the cooked item in your own sauce before eating it. So we've decided to dine here in celebration of a special occasion. They will accept reservation for a party of six or larger. The beef served here is of good quality, American Wagyu beef. Also available are lamb, pork belly, and a wide variety of seafood. Besides Hot Pot, they also offer a nice selection of Sushi. It is a set price all you can eat setup, with a 2 hours limit. However, the service/preparation was less than desirable. Some of our order took over an hour to come out! Also, management decided to staff only one server for the entire floor. As you can imagine, the server seems to be overwhelmed at times. This is not a fault of the server, but of the management. The condiments offered to make your own sauce seems lacking in variety as well. Most Hot Pot places offers a wide variety of condiments for your sauce. This place offered only a handful. But every so often I would come back to visit Philly. They finally opened a few years of me coming back to visit. The food, the soup, to the meats that melts in your mouth from every bites, everything was so delicious and flavorful. Everything I'd ordered was all tasty. The conveyor belt was very convenient.
