Definitely a place to go! The atmosphere was nice greeted right away upon entry. The entry is a great place to take a selfie with family and friends. Customer service was on point. Giving a 3 for two reasons: - we used to love going to sushi umi on date nights and special occasions and now we can't - we thought there was a waitlist available but turns out it's not available online, only once you show up at the restaurant. We got there at 5:10 and the wait was 2 hrs (Friday). Just not feasible for our family. Super sorry we didn't get to try the food! Could be just fine for a different audience, but not anyone who doesn't want to wait 2 hours after arriving at the actual restaurant in Thornton. read more

The food is good, but every time I have come up their waitlist has been unbearably stressful. If you come here expect an over an hour wait with no time estimate on the online waitlist and absolutely no reservations, and a short window of arrival means that much of that wait will be done in your car in the parking lot or the tiny overcrowded entryway with no sitting areas. We went there on 3/1/2024. We was told it will be a 30mins wait. We asked for a table and waited 1 hr and 15 mins and we were placed at the bar. Even though we ask for a table and they called us and told us our table was ready... lack of communication on their staff, the other staff seem to call other people and sitter them at our table. We saw the staff talking and the other kept pointing at the bar. At the point I was already tired and already go home. Went and sat at the bar and waiting for other 15-20mins to be served with water... at the point I was like "can we just order please" she told our orders and bees & sake.. the bar staffs looks busy. We waited for other 20mins to get just one order (bums) and no utensils. We ask for them and the guys were like " i'm not your server" and walked away... okay so we try to flag our server down for the utensils.. took other 15mins to get that. The sushi orders after. The fish was on the smaller lighter cut.. but it's an AYCE, so it expected. All the sushi and still waiting for our appetizer. One of the senior staff check on us and we told him what we were missing so he placed another order and we waited for another 30 minutes.. all over my experience there was not satisfying we spent the majority of our time waiting for our food. By the time our food came. We weren't hungry anymore so it was a waste of the all you can eat experience. We spend a total of two hours and 30 minutes at the restaurant just waiting for our orders which we only order very little and only order twice for it all you can eat. They conveniently didn't tell us a tip was added on to our bill. There were 7 of us so it's totally fine. Since we didn't know about this policy we tipped an additional $66. When we asked for a refund or even credit for our next visit, we were told absolutely no. Great customer service right? As we filled our waters up ourself, we noticed backwashed rice or something in our water vase. We lost our appetite to eat and finished what we had and left. My friend was yelled at by staff for not eating her rice. She was told she was wasteful and rude. Yelled at! Mind you they didn't have a sashimi option on the menu and advertise as all you can eat. Apparently gorging is acceptable, but avoiding carbohydrates and eating healthy is rude and wasteful. read more

I really liked this place. I liked the art and the food was good. Wait time is long waited an hour to get a table. The sushi was good enjoyed all my food. The sesame seeds balls I really liked those. Only downside was watch out how much you order it is a $1 per leftover you can't take home, so if you have any leftovers that's an extra charge on your bill. It wasn't really worth the wait. We arrived at 3:37pm, and waited in line until about 4:15pm. We had a party of 5 so we had to wait on the waitlist for an additional hour. Not too bad, the line outside is in the shade and we just went and had drinks at BWW once we were on the waitlist. The food was all okay but not much was great. The specialty rolls are all very similar. Almost all have avocado and we had one person in our party that hates avocado so he was pretty bummed. The nigiri was good and smaller than other nigiri I've had before which I liked considering it's all you can eat. The appetizers were good but nothing amazing. We got the sweet potato tempura, takoyaki, truffle white tuna, cheese wontons, gyoza, and edamame. We also tried the tonkatsu ramen. It was great, probably the best item we ordered! Service was good. The host and our waiter were both friendly and helpful. We did have trouble getting our miso soup. We ordered it with our first round but did not get it until right before we paid. The waiter said they were running low on bowls. Kind of annoying but not the end of the world. Overall, I don't think I would go back unless it is with a party of two that likes avocado. read more

Worth the wait, just go before probably 7 and the wait isn't bad, was about 45 min on a Wednesday at 6, food was very good, they include appetizers and small ramen portions. Staff was very nice as well, my only gripe is the shrimp tempura roll I had still had some of the shrimp gi tract/ "vein". We finally get to the reason we're here and the nigiri is all sitting on long preformed dried out rice beds. I know this because the second they touched the soy sauce they crumbled and collapsed. The fish was fine but nothing special. The rolls are mostly fried or baked or full of tempura and most of them have cream cheese inside. The only raw rolls are full of a mix that looks more like fish paste. They were all edible but again nothing worth waiting 2+ hours for. The price is right I guess if you're into it but the whole experience is a mess. The inside is loud and shiny as an attempt to detract from the mediocre food and service? If I want to shock my senses I'll go to meowfolf. Just put good sushi inside my belly. Not only will be not be back but I'll do my best to let anyone else know that it's not worth the time and effort. $70 worth of grocery store sushi would be better than 2 people eating here again. read more

We had my daughter's birthday here on a Thursday and it was a great experience! Their little robot brought her a birthday jasmine tea and they sung her happy birthday! An excellent value for the money. Do make sure you arrive early though as they don't take reservations, and you can be inline for a while. Once seated, service was prompt, the food was good, and there was plenty of it. I remember the skewers the best, which reminded me of some of the best street food I've had. This place needs new employees. My whole experience was ruined by one employee. I asked one of the waitresses that brought our food to provide me a tissue but when I asked him he pretended like he did hear me multiple times but eventually he said that he will bring it. I waited 5 minutes for the tissue but I was never provided either the tissue and I had to ask a different waitress. Also when he brought our food he rudely tossed our food on our table and when we looked at him he just gave us a rude face. Thankfully there was a waitress that was serving us and she was very kind and fast with the service. She was the only reason we didn't leave the place immediately.
