The concept is AWESOME to have AYCE hot pot, sushi, and bbq. What ends up happening in practice is I found the quality of the items not as good. Very disappointed in the Ngiri- found it chewy and fishy at times. Rolls were better but still not great. Would go if you want to try all the cuisines but not if you're just looking for an AYCE sushi spot

Overall the food was a solid choice for a casual night out with a friend. I liked that Chubby had a lot of selection to choose from for a hot pot. The ambiance at this place felt very authentic with the Japanese decor. My sushi that I got which was eel was very good. However, I thought that the service here was not as good. Our server didn't really check on us. Our waiter just gave us menus and left. He did not once ask us if we had been to Chubby Cattle before. He just assumed that we knew what to do and how to work stuff. Other than that Chubby Cattle provided good food and atmosphere.

This spot has been on my list to try forever now, so when the opportunity to dine here before the Botanic Garden lights - my friend and I made our way over! SPACE: Located on the corner of S Broadway and Ellsworth, the shop is easy to spot, offers nothing but street parking and is pretty small inside. However, they utilize their space well. Tables scatter the main dining area, along with a wraparound bar that allows for diners to snag the sushi on the rotating belt. It's cozy, to put it best. We were seated near the front window, which was perfect for us, to dine and soak in the whole place. SERVICE: We were greeted by a friendly woman as soon as I walked in. I explained this was our first time here, so she could give us the how to's of ordering and the process. She sent the server over to explain that to us - which was quick and to the point. Pick your poison - All you can eat bbq grill or hot pot - and sushi. Head to the station in the middle of the restaurant for your soup fixin's and BOOM. Easy peasy! Service is a-okay, but the initial server/host seemed annoyed by everyone. she was on her phone alot and rolled her eyes a few times. awkward! SIPS: We sipped on water, but the menu offers a variety of cocktails, beers and NA creations. Def worth a look! SUSETENANCE: YUM!! I had never done hot pot before and opted for the spicy tonkatsu broth - which was SPICY. woah - but so delicious! I added in some ramen noodles, bok choy, shrimp, shrimp shumai, and other yummy ingredients from the hot pot station and enjoyed adding to it as necessary. My friend seemed happy with his creation as well. We also chose two different sushi rolls each time to experience more flavor and loved all we chose. We were quite full after our two rounds of rolls and stuffed full of broth when we left. Everything tasted fresh, delicious and was a fun introduction to hot pot! SPECIALS: $40 for All you can eat hot pot and sushi - you can't beat that. For an extra $10, adds the bbq grill option. SO FUN and not bad on the wallet. I look forward to coming again sometime soon!

We called to make a reservation but they said we'll be added to the wait list. This location is outside of downtown so we had to drive around couple blocks for street parking. Small restaurant with a conveyer belt in the middle. The wait for a table was over an hour, we had 5 people in our party and they wanted to sit us at a big table. At one point I didn't mind if my party was broken up and put us at the conveyor belt. We finally sat down and did the most. Since it was all you can eat, we had hot pot and sushi. Our table was full of plates. At the end, we were trying to finish the sushi because it was closing time. The employees were super nice and told us to not rush while they cleaned.

The pink roll, Mango de roll and Nugget roll.

My favorite place to come when I visit Denver ! Sushi and ramen at the same time is the best. Ambiance to always great and vibrant. Service was great. Sushi came out a little slow but that was never an issue, super happy with my experience. I would recommend it to anyone coming to town.

I've been looking forward to trying this spot for years as I've never had hot pot or conveyer style sushi. While the staff was very friendly and helpful when informing me about the process, the food itself left a lot to be desired. Two of my friends came to visit from Hawaii and Maine; needless to say, they expected sushi with a bit more flavor, meat (rather than 80% white rice - not necessarily sushi grade), and variety. The hot pot was okay - by the time I tasted the dumplings, lettuce, and noodles I put in there, the flavor was boiled down quite significantly. The sushi was lackluster - I didn't really get a feel for the taste profile aside from trying my friend's eggplant Parmesan (which is a very interesting take for sushi!). Our waitress didn't check in on us aside from the initial order. Meh. Go for the experience, but don't hold expectations for anything life changing.

    Confirmation I was there.

I ate here on Dec 28, I took a while to write this because I was so disgusted and shocked. I was sitting at a booth by the KITCHEN when my friend looked over my right and we saw a COCKROACH on the wall. THEY HAVE ROACHES! The waiter immediately killed it and asked us to leave, which lets you know this is something not new to them. Beware.

Incredible experience. Came in around 3pm on a Saturday. Added ourselves to the waitlist online via Yelp and it was perfect timing because when we arrived we were next. Got sat at the bar - the perfect spot for the conveyor belt sushi. There are 2 options (the $40 AYCE tier and the $50 AYCE tier) - the more expensive option comes with a yakiniku grill and AYCE wagyu. This is totally worth it. Everything was so fresh and such high quality for an all you can eat, the seared salmon nigiri was incredible. The quality of the sashimi alone made this worth it, much less with all the other options. And the conveyor belt sent out a good variation of tasty dishes to supplement. Of everything, The tuna wasn't the absolute best quality, at least on the day we went, it was a little dry, but everything altogether was an insane meal for an insane deal. I left needing sweatpants and a huge nap. Success. Will be back soon.

We loved the sushi go round, the hot pot, and the sushi train that brought us our specific orders. Everything was delicious and the staff were so helpful and kind. We loved it and we will be back.

Ask the Community - Chubby Cattle Hotpot & Sushi - Denver

Is there secure parking? Do they have on site security? Do they have stupid signs saying no concealed carry? Denver is not where I'd locate any business ...

I don't think they have a parking lot, let alone a secured one. There are metered parking spots out in front and along the side streets.…

    Do they have Youtiao (油条)?

They do not at least when I was going. Moved couple months ago so have not been.don't know if they added to the menu

Is this all you can eat?

All you can eat only sushi and hotpot. There is no à la carte option. Everyone at the table must dine the same menu option "easy lunch", "regular dining", or "wagyu bbq."

Do they have a different price menu for weekends?

Where can I park my car if I want to have dinner at this place?

You'll have to find street parking. There's also a lot behind Ted's Clothiers but a little bit of a walk.

Do they have a working online reservation system? The link on Yelp to their website seems to lead to a broken reservation form.

No. It is first come first serve.

Are you still doing AYCE on weekdays?

Is the restaurant open? I have been trying to get reservations but haven't been successful. I have tried to call them and also use their online calendar. The calendar doesn't show any available dates and no one answers their phone.

yes. Walk in only! their system is so screw up. hopefully they will fix it soon and the menu so people can see what is on it.

Is the AYCE lunch menu different/limited compared to the AYCE dinner?

    No difference. Same menu

Do they have the electronic ordering or conveyer belt back and functioning again? The limitation to the current ordering system is far too slow.

They do not have it working, and with the ordering restrictions they have in place, you are waiting for food, much more than you are eating food.

Will Chubby Cattle be open on Thanksgiving day?

    Yes

I tried to call several times to make a reservation for 10 people but can't seem to get anyone. Is there a different number to call?

No. We just went there and had no problem getting in at 6 pm on week night. The thing here is you have 90 minutes to continue to order food if you do the 32.00 dinner which is the whole menu. After the 90 minutes you can stay until your food is…

How many people can fit in your VIP room?

Our VIP room seats 9 people.

Do you need a reservation to eat here?

Highly recommend getting on the wait list (you can do this from Yelp app) - wait times can get crazy long super quick

Saturday lunch price the same was weekday?

    Yes!

However, when you enter through the front door and walk in, you get the sense that not only does this restaurant belonghere, you soon will be treated and understand what taiwanese-style hot hots are, and it is truly delicious! We started with orders of popcorn chicken and chicken wings. Both items are a must try appetizers. As I popped a couple of popcorn chicken in my mouth, even without the accommodating sauce, the tastebuds in my mouth were partners dancing and jumping for joy. The sauce used to marinade and cooked in the chicken wing was so good! No side sauce necessary, but it was an added bonus to the dish. My main entrée was the seafood lobster hot soup, and boy, it was flavorful, tasty, and totally delicious! So many items in this soup including shrimp, octopus, clams, mussels, and a lot of different vegetables, but my favorite was the taro. These taro slices went very well with the soup. The assortment of banchan was plentiful--definitely the best part of the meal and something I always look forward to. However, the main dish fell short. I ordered the Kalbi Tang, which was quite disappointing. The beef ribs were clearly undercooked; the meat was tough, bristly, and difficult to chew. Instead of the tender, slow-cooked texture you expect from this dish. After the meal, I returned to the restroom--and to my surprise, the soap dispensers were still not working. This was no longer a small issue. It raised a serious concern: if customers didn't have access to soap, it's very possible that employees didn't either. The thought that staff might be handling food without properly washing their hands is unsettling and frankly unacceptable. I once heard a food inspector say that if you want to judge a restaurant, check the bathroom first. If they don't care about maintaining a basic level of cleanliness, it often reflects what's happening behind the scenes. Unfortunately, this experience reinforced that idea. While the side dishes were enjoyable, the combination of poor entree quality and concerning hygiene issues makes it hard to recommend returning anytime soon.
