Came in with family (about 12 of us, 4 kids) to celebrate my son's birthday (not reserved party). It was ok overall, but 2 main issues that frustrated me. 1) Ordered some pizzas and a party platter appetizer. Pizzas came out around 40 minutes which was fine and they said they'd bring the party platter out in a bit. 10 - 15 minutes go by, still no platter. Finally, I decided to go check and ask the girl behind the counter if it was done. She goes back and then brings it out. Typically the appetizer comes out quicker, that's why you order one. Curious how much longer it would have taken if I hadn't gone to check. 2) All ready to go, standing at the ticket counter so we can redeem our tickets and leave. My wife is waiting for someone to come help her. A lone man is helping customers take orders. He eventually acknowledges my wife and tells her he will be with her momentarily. 15 minutes later he still hasn't come and is still swamped taking orders. I get that he is busy and probably doing his best, but people shouldn't have to wait while the order line continues to flow. Get more employees (it was a Friday night, was it not expected to be busy?) or maybe tell the one girl who came to check the salad bar and then went back to come out and help instead. Anyways, we didn't get helped at the ticket counter until my father stood in the line to order and when it was his turn to "order" he said to go help the people at the ticket counter. If you're wondering if Chuck E Cheese has improved, it hasn't. It's still where "a kid can be a kid" while parents wish they had gone anywhere else. read more

I feel so bad that my daughters fix experience at a Chuck E. Cheese was this location so many games where not working. They were really busy it was around 7 a mad house maybe around 80 people and like 5 workers. I'm giving this place a 1 because I feel horrible for the employees that work here. There was a sweet guy working his name was Javier he was sweeping and cleaning and all by himself. The broom must have been 2 feet high i notice it was broken. I asked him why is it so small and to tell your manager that's not safe for you to kept bending over for hours on end with it. He said his manager said it's all they got so he has to pretty much suck it up. That's horrible he even told me he told the manager his back was hurting. I used to manage years ago that's like a workman's comp issue if that leads to back issues for him. Like wtf just get a new broom. The poor place is ran on like no staff the salad bar was not kept up with they needed to fill it. There was no cashier only one person working the prizes and register. Is this place going out of business or what?! The bathrooms were pretty clean. This is the first and only Chuck E. Cheese I have been to since I was a little kid. On busy days it's hard to find parking, but you can always park in the garage in front of the laser tag place. It's always well kept and clean, the salad bar is fresh, stocked, and has lots to choose from. You always wait about 10-15 min on the pizza, but it's very fresh. The customer service is not bad, but I do think they are always understaffed. I love that you have lots of seating options. We always choose to sit by the indoor play structure so we can watch the kids climb. I always get coupons on their website before we go. Overall, a great night out for our family. read more

This is the second Time that my family tried to come here the first time the website said nothing about requiring a reservation before coming. With the COVID struggle I understood and made a reservation for Friday today after showing up at 525pm I was told that the reservation was for 515pm. And that they would not let us in I asked to speak to the manager which told me I was out of luck and that was it didn't try and make it right by us at all. Not even offering to reschedule our appointment... nothing. I understand that businesses are struggling during this time however they should still be taking care of their customers. I would only go here for the games and not the food/service! 1. They said it was a 2 hour wait for the food. I figured since we were already there, might as well preoccupy ourselves with the game until the food comes. I put a timer and it turns out it came just under 30 minutes. 2. Did not give us birthday cake after 2 hours! We also ordered a cake which they said would take 2 hours. 2 hours came and still no cake. Went to ask them the status, they checked in the back and bam! When it comes to Chuck E Cheese, it's all about the time and day you visit. If you go after 11:30 on a weekend or in the evening on a weekday, prepare for packed chaos. That is said for any location! The best time to go is at opening. There is almost no one there. This place is clean. The staff is super friendly! They frequently go through and check the machines themselves to make sure they are working. It's a little on the smaller side in our experience but our kids still have a blast and there is still plenty of fun to be had. There were not a lot of people but the staff seemed more interested in talking on the phone than taking orders from customers ready to pay. Staff failed to make eye contact, smile or show any sort of appreciation for business. We came here because we had a mistake with our previous venue. No one was at the entrance to stamp our hands, then as we were ordering food one of the workers asked if we could gather all the kids to stamp their hands. They let us use the "Birthday" area, but it didn't make up for the lack of cleanliness or the fact that we were here at 7:57pm to almost closing and not once did Chucky come out for his "LIVE SHOW." very poor customer service. I was here on Sunday evening 3/8/2020 and was very disappointed with the staff. It was two of them at the prize section where me and my partner were standing there waiting and I completely understand that kids have many tickets they wanna redeem and it might take a while but the girl didn't even acknowledge us the whole time. We were waiting a very long time and not once was she like "i'll be right with you" or anything and on top of that, these kids came out of no where and cut and she didn't take us first even though she knew we were there.. Finally, after a long time of standing there the curly headed skinny guy was available to take us he didn't say absolutely anything, it was an awkward encounter. We had a great time at this Chuck-E-Cheese location. We booked a birthday party and our hostess was excellent. Attentive, animated, and just great to have around. The food, the service, the overall experience was great, I would definitely consider having another birthday party with them. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they had run out of their goodie bags and gave us cotton candy plastic bags with a couple little things inside as a substitute. Once I realized they had done this, I went to the manager and told her that we had paid for the package which included the goodie bags, not this. So she gave us a little refund. Awful!!! I waited in line for 5 minutes just to order a pizza even though there was a staff member standing behind the counter seemingly doing nothing. Waited and waited for our pizza. After 35 minutes I asked a staff member how long pizzas usually take. He told me they could take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. So I continues to wait. After an hour and 5 minutes I asked about my pizza and they went to check. Somehow my order never made it back to the kitchen. They told me they would have the next size up to the table in around 10 minutes. So basically I had to pay $40 bucks for my kids to play an extra 45 minutes and their only reimbursement is some extra pizza that I think is too gross to eat and my kids can't eat nearly that much!? My two youngest children were born exactly three years apart so we have to figure out how to do something for both of them. This year, fortunately they both wanted a party at the House of Mouse. Now, when I have to take them to other birthday parties at Chuck's Place, I usually look for a way to tell my wife I'm too busy but ya can't be too busy for your own kids' party-especially when you are married to my wife. We live close to the one in Grossmont Center and have been there way more times than I care to admit. This time, my wife scouted out all different CEC's in the county and decided the one on Sports Arena was the best since it had a Mario Kart game-go figure. It's pretty easy to set up the party online and by phone-you can give a deposit online and pay the tab after the party. She did call numerous times since we have an 8 y/o son and a 5 y/o daughter who essentially each wanted their own party. The people she talked to on the phone did not sound like the brightest bulbs in the pack and she was worried things would get screwed up-but they didn't-mostly. For $12.99 per child they have a big table for about 2 hours with a cheesy lunch box for the birthday person that has mylar balloons tied to it. Each kid gets 5 bucks in tokens-just enough to make them want to buy more. They get two slices of what can be describe as the most mediocre one topping pizza in San Diego. We were a bit frustrated since we paid $10 extra for the lunch box and balloons for our second child. Between our two children we had 35 guests and if we had booked them separately they would have given us the box and balloons without extra charges. It made no sense but I wasn't going to argue over $10 when se had just dropped $600. I think our beloved Caroline was thinking of having a UYE for Yelpers with kids and I suggested CEC. The Sports Arena venue is recommended over the Grossmont one. The pizza has been uniformly mediocre at all three CEC's I've been to but this one has a nicer salad bar and sandwiches that I didn't see at the others. Also, I know this would be important to many Yelpers but they do serve alcohol at the Sports Arena venue. I saw four taps on the wall labeled "Natural Light", "Bush", "Blush" and "Chablis" Just make sure they don't mix up the "Bush" with the "Blush"-or maybe it wouldn't make a difference anyway. read more

I just moved to the area a couple of months ago and my son and I have been coming to this location every week. The staff is very friendly Naomi helped us today she was very nice to my son she helped him pick out his prizes and checked us out also. When she was saying bye she asked him to come back and see her soon and as soon as we got out the door he was asking to go next week again lol. I know they hire kids that aren't good with customer service yet half the games are jammed or out of tickets, which if you don't mind complaining very other game isn't bad but poor customer service. Upon arriving I had to wait 10 mins for someone to get to the cashier and take my order, which in the meantime 3-4 different people waked by and ignored the fact I was there. They could have said "we will be right with you" or "I will try to send someone out as soon as possible" but nothing. The games that printed things out and the popular games all got jammed or backed up and it was a constant struggle to ask the guy for your coin back. The games themselves are excellent, great selection of only they would work... The only redeeming element is the kids really liked one of the workers who was there (taller blonde young guy) because he would throw them tickets/tokens and he added a great element to this place. I'm giving this place 2 stars in hopes they work out the kinks with employees and be more on top of their broken games. read more

Very disappointed with the Sports Arena location! I attended a birthday party today. As I was walking around with my 4 year old and my 3 year old friends daughter I was hit by a football in my stomach that was thrown across the room. As I looked up towards the direction the all was thrown a group of about 5 young women were laughing at me. As I got closer they laughed harder. I tried to ignore them because I didn't want the kids to know I was hurt. When I got close enough to our them stated "it's not funny that really hurt me." Their reaction was to begin to laugh, point and proceed to curse me out. Including threatening to do physical harm to me. I asked away and immediately found an associate. She directed me to the manager. By this time I was in tears from the pain. I explained to the manager what had happened. I told her I didn't feel comfortable being there any longer and that I was going to leave. She printed out a receipt for 150 tickets and apologized for my experience. She said that she was going great to kick them out. I went back to the birthday party and let my friend know that I didn't feel comfortable staying. I waited for 20 minutes and the manager never asked them to leave. In the mean time the group continued to look my way and continued to taunt me. I felt so uncomfortable that I finally left. It is at least 4 hours later and I still have pain where the football hit me! I will NEVER go to a Chuck E Cheese in my life again! read more

So I came here for my co-workers kid's party...seeing how this was a last second thing, and my curiousity of whether those creepy Chuck E. Cheese robots still perform every half hour (at least that's what I remember when I was 8 years old) I decided to see how this place has changed (or not) with the times. First thing when I walk in I notice a sign at the front stating "firearms in this building are not allowed and is punishable by the law." Uh say what now? Did I just walk into Chuck E. Cheese's or a courthouse? I am guessing this particular establishment may have had a few incidents regarding gun play in the past if a big orange sign with a picture of a gun being crossed out is at the entrance. Okay...maybe I shouldn't stay here too long. Then I notice they sell beer here. Score! Makes perfect sense for all the parents waiting around for their kids to be done spending oodles of tokens on video games and prizes and stuffing pizza down their throat. Unfortunately the beer tasted watered down and I felt no buzz whatsoever. Lame. I think the best part is sodas are free refills...and that the guy up front never noticed we snuck in our own pizza from the car...which was Costco pizza...which tasted and looked better then the expensive Chuck E. Cheese pizza. Then again, maybe he did and just didn't give a rats tail...haha...you see the play on words I just did???? Uhhh...anyways...those creepy robots are no longer in use here...they use a bunch of pre-taped stuff on big TV screens instead...and a guy in a Chuck E. Cheese costume comes out to greet the kiddies. Hubby and I took our God Daughter (KC) here to kick off her 7th Birthday Weekend. She loves going to Chuck E. Cheese. It was a Friday afternoon approx 1300. Not crowded; maybe 7 groups/families. Got the meal deal with a large 1 topping pizza, 4 drinks, & 50 tokens for $29.99 and added an order of cheesy bread at the request of my God Baby. Pizza was so-so, nothing special. KC devoured the cheese bread. Hubby and I wanted most for KC to have an enjoyable time --- for KC that meant 1) eating what she wanted, 2) using all 50 tokens, and 3) obtaining as many prizes as possible with her tickets. Overall, things were going well... until Hubby checked in on Four-Square and received an unlocked special for 5 free tokens just for checking in. Hubby happily went to counter and showed the cashier the special on his cell phone. The cashier informed him that she could not honor special because they "were not familiar with the offer". Hubby proceeded to tell cashier that we have never had any business reject a Four Square special. The female cashier then consulted with a co-worker (the guy who maintains the game machines) who also stated the special could not be honored. By this time Hubby was upset and informed staff that we would be submitting a review on YELP telling of our encounter and again reminding them that it was absurd to readily reject a Four Square special. Hubby then returned to our table and as we prepared to leave, the female cashier approached and stated that they made a mistake --- their new manager failed to inform them of the Four Square special and instead of 5 free tokens, they gave us 10. Sad to say that wasn't the case for my family. I was in town visiting family for the holidays, I decided to take my kids here. I have NEVER had such AWFUL service as I had at this particular location. And it was not the staff but the mighty Manager that was sooooo RUDE!!!! I bought a salad and as I went up to get seconds I asked the manager if I can have another plate ( my husband wanted a salad w/diff dressing)he looked at my plate and told me to not waste food next time...WTH!!!!!! I took my son to a birthday party here. It was my first time back to Chuck E. Cheese in 20-plus years. My judgement is based solely on the audience this place is geared towards, which is kids. It's a decent place that is kept clean. I really like the hand-stamp system that insures that all kids go home with the correct parent or guardian. The food wasn't terrible and the entertainment kept the kids busy for two hours. I can see other reviewers complained about the ticket prizes. The woman who helped me actually let my son have a prize that was worth one more ticket than he actually had so I'm not sure if the value of the tickets is firm or if it's based on employee judgement. read more

Horrible! Worst CEC in San Diego County. So unorganized! My kids & I had to wait over 30 mins at a game for a CEC attendant to fill up the tickets when ran out & we weren't the only ones waiting. Ashley was the front door attendant & she did not smile the whole 3 hours we were there. She was very rude and not kid friendly. The manager (female) who was taking tickets for prizes let several people cut until I booked her on it and she gave me a free roll of sweet tarts candy (value, 10 tickets) for her mistake. I must say I haven't been here since HS. I had a great time. I was babysitting and trying to kill some time. Hugo and Jesus made him feel so special and they were so sweet. It was such a great time.
