We experienced its Sunday brunch menu, enjoying crab cakes benedict and the fish sandwich. Both were quite good, although the fried fish sandwich was hardly the best (it lacked crunch and was slightly soggy). But the fries were both thin and crunchy. The crab cakes benedict was quite delicious and included a small salad. The presentation for both dishes was excellent, as was the service. My wife had a Bloody Mary; I opted for a Mimosa. Both were satisfactory. It's a little pricey, at least for brunch. (Our total, with drinks and a 20% tip was a bit over $60.) The restaurant is downtown, which is why it probably wasn't very busy when we arrived at 12:45 PM. My guess is that it's a popular venue for lunch during the workweek. Chucks seriously is my favorite sushi in tally! They have really good drinks - my personal fave is the pineapple jalapeño margarita (have a really good happy hour deal) and all the food is soooo fresh! They have both inside and outside seating and every server I have had has been so friendly! My personal favorite roll is the TNT roll or the DAT roll! Well, it was unfortunate. We made a reservation for 15 at 7pm. If they didn't staff to serve a party like that they shouldn't have taken the reservation. We waited over 3 hrs for our food. At 7:00 they were already out of all non-fried shrimp. The service was only fair. If they had apologized, offered free apps for the table, something - but in the end the 18% gratuity was already added and the food is very expensive. To be fair the food tasted great. But 3 hours for some who got a cheeseburger and some who got 8 small pieces of sushi, it just ruined it when in the end you pay an exorbitant bill. read more

The fried shrimp dinner is fantastic. Perfectly cooked and battered. Great size, 30 countish. We also had the baked avocado appetizer, delicious. The salmon dinner was also delicious. Perfectly seasoned and cooked and served at perfect temperature. For me though the unsung hero of my plate was the coleslaw. A delicious combination of tangy and sweet. My only complaint was that the portion was way too small. I could have eaten a pint of it. The service was on point and the general vibe was very relaxed and welcoming. Had been wanting to try Chuck's for a while & finally got the chance when my sister suggested it as a double date night w/ our hubbies. We each started out with cocktails (I had the Lavender 75, my sis had their Frosé - both delish) & appetizers consisting of edamame, baked avocado (sooo good) & spring rolls. I ordered sushi: cowboy & TNT rolls. My husband got the ribeye w/ the 2 shrimp. He's generally not a huge fan of shrimp but said he's order just the shrimp next time - it really was good. I'll be honest, I don't remember what my sis or her husband ordered but no one had any complaints about their food. Our server, Patrick was pretty on top of things. Our truly least favorite part was simply how loud it is inside - I don't think it's quite as loud outside on the deck but I'm not really sure. We will be back tho! read more

We came on a Friday evening and got seated right away. The restaurant was short staffed but they did a great job making it work. I got a roll from the specialty menu and it was really good the pieces were huge. They charged me an additional amount from the menu price I guess for inflation but I appreciate price transparency. Overall, good experience on the pricer side though for what you get. read more

The manager Natasha Bills was horrible in handling a situation at our table when a trainee was serving our table of 4. Instead of resolving the situation she was combative and had a bad attitude. Proceed with caution when entering this establishment due to long wait time and bad customer service. Update: The Owner personally called me and apologized for the service and assured me that they will make this a teachable moment for the Staff. Next time I'm in town on business I will plan to follow up. It means a lot to know that a restaurant strives to be better! read more

We tried Chuck's fish on Saturday 4/23 and are sad to say we did not have a good experience. We had an 8:30 reservation and it was close to 10 when we got all of our food. We ordered drinks, appetizers, sushi and 2 salads. The server was VERY nice. The noise level was off the charts, even our college age kids and our server commented on it being too loud. Our server remarked that it was so loud they hoped we could hear them. We were warned that the sushi was backed up 40 minutes when we were ordering, but since that's what we came for we ordered 4 appetizers and figured we'd wait. It was longer than 40 minutes, (it was long for the appetizers, too) and the wait combined with the extreme noise made for a disappointing experience. It was our last dinner in Tally for the school year with our kids, and certainly not the end of the world, but I wanted to share that we must have caught them on an off night. At $170.00 for four of us, before tip, for edamame, focaccia, sm. gumbo, fish dip, 3 rolls, two salads, 3 glasses of wine and one cocktail- we were hoping for a little different experience. read more

Last time we came here it was great. This time not so much. Actually, it was terrible. The wait staff was over worked and as such I never received my martini nor my Diet Coke. My sushi was sloppily prepared, but that's forgivable. The real tragedy was the miso soup and the snapper. When planning where to dine while my son and his girlfriend were in town, Chuck's Fish was top of the list and did not disappoint. Our drinks included the Bordeaux Bourbon, Tally-Oh, Cucumber Collins with Hendricks gin, and Strawberry Lemonade. All were wonderful, but the Bordeaux Bourbon made with Woodford remains a personal favorite... and that's coming from a vodka girl. We chose Uptown Shrimp and Fried Oysters from the App menu and both were devoured. Most of us had never tried fried oysters before and were happily surprised with how fantastic they were. My son and his GF agreed that the Chuck's Salad and the Wedge salad were both as wonderful as we had promised. Professional server Roy had little trouble in convincing us to try offerings from the nightly specials, and three of us enjoyed tuna burgers with jasmine rice, a scallop entree, and Gulf fish of the day, while my husband ordered the fried shrimp. All were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. The risotto accompanying the shrimp was so good we ordered extra, and also added a side of Kimchi Brussels to share since they're one of my Chuck's favorites and they disappeared quickly. GM Natasha Bills and chef Jovan stopped by to check on us and meet our son and his girlfriend, which was very nice. We finished the meal with some yummy wine and by sharing the decadent Blondie Sundae. Chucks was such fun after a long days drive. We happened to stumble across happy hour with half price drinks and $2 off rolls. The old fashions were outstanding and the soft shell crab rolls certainly hit the spot. Service was great and friendly. If ever back in Tallahassee it certainly a place for a visit. read more

We have eaten at Chuck's at least 6-7 times since they open about 8 months ago. The tables are about 10' apart and the servers wear masks. They have a sushi bar if you like sushi. I love the crab cakes and the crab stuffed shrimp. They have their own fishing fleet in Destin, so the food is fresh. Service has always been good and they do accept reservations. They also have an outside deck - half covered. We are looking forward to trying their brunch. read more

Came to chucks for brunch and probably won't be back again. The restaurant was very uncomfortable and hot. We had a party of about 15 maybe, and the seating arrangements were very tight as well. I ordered the chicken and waffles and wasn't a fan of the walnut addition. The Frose was good though, but wouldn't make this a brunch spot. Friends did enjoy the shrimps and grits though, so those I would recommend. read more

I'm upset because I use to love this place. Tonight I had one of the worst dining experiences. For starters, our waiter took 30 minutes to even come to our table and introduce himself. After that it was another 30 minutes to get a drink. The food finally came after an hour and a half and our waiter forgot to bring the sauces we requested which took another 15 minutes. On top of that, we had put in a second order of drinks and our waiter completely forgot to put them in so they never arrived. We took matters into our own hands and went to the bar which was when we were greeted with extreme rudeness by one of the general MANAGERS. If you know Harbor Docks in Destin, same owner. We have been for several dinners and absolutely enjoyed the unique approach to seafood. A little sketchy parking on street downtown but we have always found a spot. Appetizers are delicious and main course entrees have always left us sharing and tasting. Bonus is pretty good sushi.
