I was only in Austin for the day, but what could have been a disaster was successfully avoided thanks to the amazing customer service I received here. This is hands down the best mechanic operation I have ever been to, and I am so grateful to have found them. Here's what happened: I was driving from Houston to Austin for a series of meetings. On the way, my car started to make a distinctive sound. The feeling changed. I thought it might be the belt, but I didn't know for sure. I called Mercedes South Austin and they told me it would take THREE DAYS to diagnose it. I called at 9am, and they told me their mechanics get off at 4:30, so they wouldn't have time to see me at all. I turned to ChatGPT, which then recommended Chuck. THANK GOD! Michael answered the phone, told me to drive over, and once I arrived, he diagnosed the problem in about 30 seconds--the tensioner had broken. I needed a new one, plus new belts and pulleys. Michael personally drove to the dealership to get the necessary parts, checked my entire car for any hidden problems, then let me know when they were done. The price was very reasonable, the service was top notch, and I was so unbelievably grateful to be able to leave Austin and make my 9am meeting in Houston the next day. BEST MECHANIC EVER. I don't want to have car problems in Austin again, but if I did, I'd go back to them in an instant. It was unbelievably refreshing to meet true experts who genuinely care about the customer experience, go above and beyond to solve problems, and still make me feel comfortable despite my lack of car knowledge. For example, you go in for a Service A or B, and they will of course make repair suggestions; however, they will tell you things like, "just keep an eye on that issue, you don't need a replacement yet," and "bring it back in six months and we will re-check." Near damn perfect service, only thing I wish they had was rentals and a waiting area to do some work while the repairs are going on. So far every piece of work I've had has been perfect, they honor their work, they quote something, if it happens to be in less time they won't charge you for all the quoted labor. I recently purchased a used '03 SL 55 and the air conditioner went out. I see now why people are writing what they are writing about Chuck. His shop is just plain and simple, they're honest and the prices are very reasonable. My wife's car needed over a grand worth of parts and repairs (Schedule A, some oil leaking, broken hinge off lid partition, bumper clips broken, radiator hose leaking, tail light assembly, etc.) that were done quickly and explained to me in advance. I won't hesitate taking my e350 in to them again for next years' service needs. I was taking my recently purchased '76 Mercedes 450SL on its first joyride to Austin from Houston. I made it about 15 minutes away from my friend's place when I overheated and pulled over to the side of the road. I asked my mechanic for recommendations and sadly he had none, so I turned to Google. Chuck came up with excellent reviews and I have to say he is everything all these 5 star reviews extol. First of all, even though it was late in the day and my tow truck took two hours to arrive, he waited at the garage for me. This already was above and beyond and I am very appreciative of it. Second he immediately diagnosed both short term and long term solutions and emphasized he wanted me to get home safely as his primary concern. The car was ready the next day for me to trial with the short term fix. Five days in, it still hasn't overheated! Third, he did a thorough inspection of the car and informed me of other things I should do in the short term, but could wait until I got back to Houston. Given his outstanding work so far, I decided to give him my business and I am so glad I did. The car drives like a dream now and I got back to Houston safe and sound. I can't speak about the service or quality of job. However, when I called, I was quoted $1,100 for a service B and a change of spark plugs. I payed $180 for the spark plugs and $280 for the service B at the dealer. That's over a 50% difference which is definitely cause for concern. read more

Tony and I spent about 60 minutes going through the car, top to bottom. It was my first time seeing car underside while it was up on a lift (I usually jack it up and crawl under), so Tony took time showing me what details he looks for. We made a punch list of items to address and repair. Chuck helped me prioritize the list and we have checked off two items so far. They know the older cars very well, have seen what typically goes unattended and then fails, and do the repairs promptly and at a fair price. I'll be back for the other repairs soon! You should call and go by soon with your MB! Update - since this review I have returned several times to check off a few more items. Chuck and team have recently replaced the front struts and mounting - and the car rides great! We also replaced one side of the exhaust - cat back piece.
