I've been coming to this restaurant with my Wife and Kids for the last 10 or more years. I visited two days ago for breakfast. Sadly, the place isn't what it used to be. Although the staff is friendly and courteous as has always been, the food was not so good, at least not what it used to be. The eggs came out on the cold side and over cooked for sunnyside, and the home potatoes were not seasoned well and were also on the cold side. VERY SIMPLE 2 eggs and ham with toast and coffee should NOT cost $13. Especially when served at room temp. I can get this same breakfast at Munchies with Cafe Con Leche (coffee with milk) and a side order of colada (Cuban cofffe) aka "cuban crack" for $6. Sadly, I will not be visiting this Chuck Wagon again, however there is another Chuck Wagon on 117th Street just south of Sunset Drive, and I still have hope. . . read more

Took our waitress literally 15 minutes to take our order after we told her we needed alittle bit more time after getting our drink order. I used to come to Chuck Wagon regularly, but hadn't been in a while. I ended up coming in on a weekday for breakfast. Given the sparsity of customers, I would have thought that the service would have been a little better. The waiters were very friendly, but didn't check on our table much. At one point I had to go looking for someone. Everything in the place seems a bit dated, and could use some freshening up. As you can see from my check-in's I have continued to give this location an opportunity to meet my expectations. It is so much closer than the one on 117; but that's it. Today was the last straw. After being seated we waited close to 10 minutes for a waitress to come to our table to take our order. When she was finally asked by one of her colleagues to wait on us she almost seemed bothered. ZERO STARS .... I was visiting my hometown , Miami. A friend and I decided to go to chum wagon. WORST DECISION EVER. our server was prejudice towards us because we have tattoos and piercings. She didn't want to take us. She barely spoke to us. Kept leaving super quick after dropping off things to our table. She took 20 minutes to bring us our DRINKS. The grits were so bland it was disgusting. My friends 8 year old daughter didn't eat hers bc she did not like them so she asked to take it off the tab since she didn't eat them. Since New York, New York closed down, I've been frequenting you for delicious breakfasts, and as far as your food is concerned, I think you're doing a wonderful job. The best veggie omelets and pancakes around! I also love your cafe con leche. I heard from a server today that you're renovating. I'm on board with the renovation for reasons of cleanliness. I come here a lot and there's been a couple times when the smell of wet, dirty rag has filled the air. So there's definitely room for improvement. I awarded the Chuck Wagon an extra star because the previous reviews clearly had unreal expectations of what the place should be. First off, it is called the Chuck Wagon. That name shouldn't bring up images of fine dining, clean silverware and fancy modern decor. No, chuck wagons were used to feed cowboys on cattle drives on the open range. When I hear Chuck Wagon, I expect dust, grease and bad coffee. Second, when you walk into a place and quickly notice everyone there is at least 20 years older than you(i'm 42), don't expect a hell of a lot of flavor in your meal. Old people like bland food. Since the Chuck Wagon was obviously meant for ex pat mid westerners, I can go out on a limb and say old white people like even blander food. The service was better than I would expect from a place like this. Our waitress was a very pleasant and attentive young lady. Nothing like the Flo-like character from that Mel's diner tv show from the 70's that I expected and kind of hoped for. The food was pretty good, portions were fair and the price was right. If you need to nurse a hangover, feed your grandparents from Kansas or have a real old west experience the Chuck Wagon is for you. I would have given them five stars, but they had an old cow hide attached to the ceiling that was being shook by a nearby fan. Never go back again!!! Horrible service. Went this Morning around 10:00am, place was half full. It took 15 minutes to get the waitress and then she said she only had time to get the drink orders. After 15 more minutes had to ask the hostess to get the waitress to get the order. She said she was very busy and said if we wanted good service we had to come at 9:00am, cause they are very busy on Sundays. This place doesn't have enough workers for the size of the restaurant & they obviously expect the customer to suffer the consequence. After another 20 minutes breakfast came without bread and cold. She came to ask if everything was OK? We said no missing bread. After another 10 minutes bread came. By then the coffee was already cold. I feel I'm paying full price for service and food anytime of the week. If they can't handle a full restaurant they should close part of it. This place is a staple I the West End of Kendall. I have been coming here since they opened. If u want good food and nice quite atmosphere than this is the place. Once you sit down and put your order in it comes fast. Their are four tv's to watch local news in the morning and you also get to see a lot of the regulars. The meals are large. I always order the "Wagon Wheel" comes with 2-pancakes 2-eggs and bacon or you can order sausage. I will continue to come here and there enjoy good service. read more
