The restaurant is much bigger than their original space and I like it. They had a very extensive drink menu and I didn't get to try any cocktails, but I definitely will next time I will try one. We had a res, and were immediately seated. The server was on Point and made sure everything was perfect. It is a very small, quaint sorta spot. Not exactly romantic, but definitely intimate. We came in for a quick bite at 6 pm, ordered a salad and their "best cheesesteak outside Philly". 30 min later, a salad comes out. Our waitress comes out to inform us that "unfortunately we are out of hoagies, therefore you need to order something other than our signature cheesesteak". Understood. I am sitting with my salad, and my partner is waiting for his meal for another 30 min. Any good restaurant will offer something to a person who ended up with no food. Decided to have a night out with a friend and came across this lovely gem. The restaurant had this modern cozy aesthetic to it. We decided to just do appetizers for the night and the waitress was kind enough to guide us through the menu. We ordered a wedge salad, mussels, conch fritters, and buffalo wings. The two stars of the show were the mussels and conch fritters. Both items had so much flavor packed into them. Highly recommend these two items. Although, next time I would ask to hold the pancetta on the mussels. For desserts we did the milk cookies and banana bread pudding. We ordered: shrimp and grits, duck confit, quesadilla, filet mignon, crispy skin, snapper caramel bread, pudding, and Keylime pie. Everything was delicious! I particularly enjoyed my choices. The quesadilla was hot and crispy, with plenty of duck. The crispy skin snapper was super tasty and I loved the texture. You can pick two veggies with the entrees. I loved the braised cabbage. It was sweet and went well with the fish. The crispy brussels sprouts were good, but I have had better brussels. I think the desserts were smaller than the regular portion, but that was fine. I almost never leave bad reviews but this was probably the worst dining experience I've ever had. We came for my fiancé's birthday and were looking forward to the food, as we came before for brunch and he really enjoyed it. The food was good, but everything else about the experience was extraordinary unpleasant. Our service was nice, but it took 15 minutes to get our orders in. From there it takes an hour for the appetizers to come out, and an hour and a half for the entrees. The restaurant was a little busy, with maybe 6 tables but nothing that would warrant that type of wait. In the 30 minutes between our appetizers and entrees we hear full volume yelling and banging in the kitchen. One of the chefs is having a melt down and saying he's leaving. He proceeds to storm back and forth around our table and through the restaurant yelling. This goes on for 5-10 minutes. No one comes by to reassure us everything is ok, and we question if we are safe sitting at the table. This is Florida, he could have a gun, etc. We are all nervous but decide to stay because we can't find a server to get the bill and leave. Eventually the server comes over and when we ask about what happened she just said su chef got into a fight with the head chef, and acted like it was NBD and has happened before. Totally brushed off the whole thing to us. Didn't offer us a complimentary drink or even apologize for the scare. And we all felt bad for the employees of this restaurant that had to endure this man yelling at them. Eventually the food came out and we all devoured our meals and the desserts because we had been waiting for so long. My food came out room temp but everyone else enjoyed theirs. Overall such a strange and unpleasant dining experience, despite the fact that the food tasted good. I felt bad that this was my fiancés family birthday dinner experience. read more

Miami Spice Menu - Choose any appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $30 lunch or $45 dinner. We ordered the jalapeño breads which had a bit of a kick and Latkes Royal for appetizers. For entrees we had the chicken cordon blue with pork n beans and sweet plantains. As well as the Grilled Faroe Island Salmon with mashed potatoes and Pork n beans. The salmon had so much flavor with a crispy top. Delicious! The pork n beans give you a punch of different meat flavors from sausages and bacon! Lastly for dessert we order the key lime pie and health bar butterscotch bread pudding both tasted very fresh and homemade so so good. Our server was very sweet and informative and gave us some great tips on what to order. Food came out quickly and the ambiance was very chic. It was a bit small so parking in the back could be limited. I heard they moved from across the street and looks like a bigger location from the older one. As always, the food was great. I reviewed blue collar in the past, but it's been a while since I've been there. Went Saturday at a very odd quiet time of day in mid afternoon. Blue collar is one of the most generous restaurants participating in Miami spice. Where many give you limited choices of modest items, blue collar, straightforward place that it is, lets you pick any appetizer and any main dish and any dessert, and prices that at $35 for brunch or 45 for lunch and I think dinner. Service was friendly. And the food was amazingly good. I started with the shrimp and grits, went on to have the double thick Duroc pork chop with terrific sweet potatoes and red cabbage, and key lime pie. My friend ended up with the Keylime pie as well, but started with delicious concrete fritters and the brown sauce, chicken, and we enjoyed all of it. 10 Years Later - Blue Collar is still GREAT! I've been coming to Blue Collar for 10 years now and the food is always GREAT! No complaints! Our server Jon, has been there since we have been going and always takes great care of us too! Food is always spot on, made fresh with quality ingredients, and delicious to boot. No matter what you order from the menu - it will be good - I've never had a bad meal or dish here. One of our favorite dishes for breakfast or brunch is the Brisket Benedict - the combination of the poached eggs and the soft and tender brisket on an English muffin is just perfection - so good. It's served as well with home cooked potatoes that make the perfect side dish as well. We also tried this time the buttermilk pancakes and their French toast and both were fantastic as well. Highly recommend! The absolute STAR of their menu though is their key lime pie - it's the BEST KEY LIME PIE EVER! Not just in Florida but honestly the best key lime pie I've ever had anywhere and that's a huge compliment. I've had family drive all the way from Ft Lauderdale to Blue Collar in Miami for the key lime pie it's that good. You can taste that it's always homemade and made fresh and it's the most perfect balance of tart and sweet - not too sour and not too sweet - which is hard to find with key lime pies they're always too sweet or way too sour. Also when I stopped by it was HH where 2x1 cocktails were happening as well as other deals on drinks. The mango margarita and side car were delicious. A bit small but still tasty. This wasn't my first time there so I just knew I needed the jalapeño cornbread. I had the griot with mashed potatoes and peas. As a Haitian I know when there's some zoes in the kitchen. The griot was crispy yet still tender. Pikliz was spicy 10/10. I've been to Haitian restaurants who haven't been able to deliver on the flavor profile and having good pikliz. When I ordered I wasn't too thrilled about ordering peas but I was trying to have a balanced meal. The peas did not disappoint! Oxtails were good. Not spicy though. The salty roe paired nicely with the not salty creme fresh and the potato latke. A nice way to start the meal. The shrimp benedict was also good. It was topped with a perfectly spicy hollandaise. Plus, the potatoes were good, not as crispy as I'd like but still good and seasoned well. Finally, the bread pudding dessert was fantastic. This was a first time for me dining here. Also, it was a first for me to dine in this Mimo area. The restaurant is popular and has recently just moved across the street from their previous location. Apparently, this location is bigger. The decor was pleasant. They have a gorgeous large chandelier in the main dining room with high vaulted ceilings. The building is intriguing. The light offered a romantic ambiance. We sampled their corn bread which was really good. It was buttery and definitely had a nice warmth from some jalapeno. The Portuguese muffin was hard and tasted old and stale, the eggs overcooked, the latke was hard and overcooked. Every year, my friends and I come to Blue Collar during Miami Spice because it is, hands down, the BEST deal in Miami. They let you choose from the whole menu, as opposed to sticking you with the cheapest options are charging $60 for it. Best part, is they keep the price at $45 for dinner, so you absolutely cannot beat that. Since last year, the restaurant has changed locations. It's much bigger and more beautiful now. My primary reason for giving this restaurant 3 stars this time around instead of four was because of the service. When we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly server who took our drink orders, but he took about 15-20 minutes before coming back for our food orders and the restaurant was empty. Aside from that, our waters needed to have been refilled and I needed a steak knife and couldn't find him to ask. Most importantly though was with the desserts. We all ordered our desserts and received large, normal portion. On the menu, there's an option to order "warm chocolate cookies, with milk." When all of our desserts came - big slices of key lime pie and a big bread pudding - our friend got a small plate with one measly chocolate chip cookie. Just one, and it was small. We asked for another, they laughed and said no. We said "but the menu advertises multiple cookies, this is so small compared to everyone else" and he laughed and said it was a typo condescendingly. We then asked for the warm milk, and he said do you want milk? And we were all so confused and said "ummm yes, that's what it says on the menu! Along with the fact that it has more than one cookie." Anyway, it was just a weird conversation and we felt gaslit and crazy, in a situation that could have been easily remedied. Anyway, let's chat about the good things- the food. The duck quesadillas stole the show - huge portion, and melt in your mouth goodness. The corn bread was everyone's favorite except for mine (mine were the quesadillas.) The cuban egg rolls were different, unique, and delicious. As for entrees, the oxtail is always a winner. The lamb shank was delicious, though hard to get off the bone, and not as melt-in-your-mouth fall off the bone as the oxtail. Still good though. The lamb pappardelle was AMAZING, and was the winner in my book. The pasta was perfectly al-dente. The chicken parm is always great. Desserts- key lime pie and bread pudding were good, not amazing, and you already know how we feel about the cookie situation. It might be tale as old as time, where the restaurant moves or expands and they lose their quality. The quantity was great for a spice deal at $45 a dinner, whole menu to choose from. After seeing so many recommendations for Blue Collar, we decided to finally pay a visit during Miami Spice. Located in Midtown, the actual restaurant is a very tiny spot next to a motel. On the day of our visit, we were the first customers. The service was great- we had a very friendly server who gave us some good recommendations. The actual place needed a bit of a cleanup- the tables needed a wipe down and overall, it looked a bit disheveled despite just opening. Food was good- we tried the Jalapeño corn bread (great), the Fried Gouda (a bit lacking in taste), the Ragout (excellent) and the Spicy Oxtail ( fantastic). Desserts were better than they looked -Key Lime Pie and Bread Pudding. All in all , the food was worth the travel there but the regular prices would seem a bit steep. read more

Unlike most of the participating restaurants who have selected items in their Miami Spice menus Blue Collar allows you to select anything on the menu. I selected the 'Shrimp n Grits' for my appetizer. I will be thinking about these grits for a long time. There were 17 shrimp, 4 large and 13 small, way more than I expected and they were cooked properly, not rubbery. The New Orleans BBQ sauce complimented the cheese and the creamy grits. For my entree I ordered the Dry Aged Cheeseburger, it was a mix of Prime NY strip and brisket. I ordered it medium and it was cooked to my request. The LTO and pickles were all fresh. The burger came on a Portuguese muffin, which is more like an English muffin than a traditional bun, I liked it. I ordered a salad as my side and when my meal came out, I got fries, the manager quickly brought me a salad. The salad was just greens with some vinaigrette. I drink a lot of water so they get extra points for leaving the bottle of water on the table. For my dessert I got the key lime pie served with vanilla whipped cream, it was small but the perfect finale to my meal. The atmosphere is trendy and bright. The noise level was a little high, not because it was so busy, but I think because of the high ceilings. Vintage metal lunch boxes line the window sills. There were seats outside facing Biscayne Blvd well as an outside bar. Service was attentive. I was a party of one and initially they sat me right by the entrance door and every time it opened I got a great gust of wind. I asked to slide over to the next table and they accommodated me quickly and with no questions asked. I was most impressed watching the busboy as he swiftly and quietly cleared tables, filled water and kept in constant motion taking pride in what he was doing. Blue Collar is located in the MIMO area of Miami in the lobby of a hotel dating from the 1950s. It had a creative, imaginative menu. It's relatively small but the service is great, all of the staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. We had the huge wedge salad with blue cheese, the grilled salmon with caramelized Brussels sprouts and braised cabbage with apple and bacon and the gigantic Philly cheesesteak. The food is still good, though the prices are not exactly what a blue collar worker can afford. The portions are average for the price. I love their brunch, and will definitely be back for that many times. The dinner items are good, but the prices seem a bit high for what you get. If you're looking for something that tastes good and don't mind paying a bit more then this is a great option for you. Waitstaff has always been friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Finally got to try this spot for my birthday. I've been so excited because the reviews seemed great and a friend was hyping it up. I'm disappointed to say that I will most likely not be coming to this spot again. To start, I thought the service was kind and attentive, no complaints on that end. Ambiance was elegant on the inside and there were nice outside seats and booths for those who wanted a more casual vibe. I asked if there was sangria...I was told "I think so" and pretty sure I was brought house wine with some orange and lime slices thrown in. It was fine but definitely not true sangria. Now the food... Appetizers (best of the food review): Got the wedge salad, the blue cheese sauce and crumble was yummy and it had large savory pieces of bacon. Got the potato latkes (regular ones) they were pretty good. The applesauce seemed unique and homemade. If you've never had a potato latke, I'd recommend trying it here, they were solid. Last app was the Cuban sandwich eggroll. These were super savory, crispy, and the Dijon sauce was the perfect dip for em. I would highly recommend this app. Entrees (4)- 1.Oxtail - I was very disappointed with this, I've been looking forward to trying their spicy twist on it. The meat was so tough and chewy (something not common of oxtail dishes) and honestly kinda disgusted me. I got the spice level "medium" and couldn't even taste the sauce at all. The garlic/butter bread that came with it was hard as a crouton, I didn't even try to eat it after the first bite. Mashed potatoes had little to no flavor but creamy. 2.T-bone steak - pretty thin, not cooked medium rare like requested, came out more like medium well. Their Diane sauce took away from the steaks flavor. The "caramelized" brussel sprouts were so hard and uncooked that we couldn't eat them at all. The mushrooms were sautéed well and yummy. 3.Sautéed shrimp- They were ok, had a little kick to them. Cooked well. Sides were mashed potatoes(again pretty flavorless). BUT THE PLANTAINS WERE INCREDIBLE. So crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. Some of the best I've ever had. 4. The corben (Brisket) sandwich- very sad about these too. The meat was just so chewy and rolls they were on were nothing special. The meats tomato sauce was plain but the au jus sauce was the best addition possible to give it flavor. I got the much anticipated cheesy grits with these (very hyped up) and they were cold :(... they were the first thing we all tried when the food came out too so we didn't let them cool off or anything. Blue collar is your typical american restaurant located in the upper east side of biscayne blvd. I had heard amazing things about this place saying it was the perfect american comfort food so i decided to stop by for lunch with a friend. First i ordered a margarita which was not a typical one, built in the glass not shaken lack of effort put into the drinks and bland. Then we started off with the ceaser salad and shrimp grits. Very tasty! Moved onto the cheesesteak sandwich again great portion and delectable. Also ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich which was the disappointment. From the moment you grab the sandwich it's heavily tossed in sauce to the point the bread is soggy and the sandwich is dripping. Unfortunately i had to take it apart and just each the tenders and veggies on the side. Not something i would ever order from this place again. Service was 7/10 only because they were short staffed midday which is understandable but the guys were super sweet. In all reality bar needs a kick of improvement as they didn't have certain liquors we asked for before ordering, and just don't order the buffalo sandwich unless you want to eat a tub of sauce. read more
