Tried Chuck's on a whim about 15 years ago because they were on my route to work. Been a fan ever since! Love the creme brûlée donut, the cinnamon sugar donut holes, chocolate raised and of course, their APPLE FRITTERS! Their fritters are the best I've ever had. I don't know their baking schedule because I've gone at different times of the day. Usually my donuts are fresh but last Sunday morning I ordered their cinnamon sugar donut holes and they were a bit hard & you could mostly just taste the oil/grease. It was not good. Our least favorite was the Red Velvet Cream Cheese. I love red velvet cake, especially when it's paired with cherries or raspberries for some freshness, but this donut was simply too sweet and didn't have much balance. I've been driving past this place for so long and can't remember ever coming, so when I needed some emergency food at 3 am I finally got to stop by. I got a bagel with cream cheese, a bacon egg and cheese croissant, and a few various doughnuts. The bagel and cream cheese was good, standard. The croissant was gigantic and I appreciated them making it from scratch at such a crazy hour. The doughnuts were fine, perhaps excellent or average, I don't really like doughnuts much so they are about as good as any others. Inside it's, well, it looks its age. Maybe even retro. Definitely could be believably be from 40-50 years ago. If you like doughnuts or want a breakfast sandwich, I think this is a good choice, and if it's super late it's pretty much your only choice so thankfully it's good. Out of spontaneouity, or more like out of impulse last Sunday morning to relive the deliciousness of a lemon filled donut, I decided to check this shop out again. (Since the closest shop in Belmont is not as good or doesn't have much variety as this location). Either my taste buds were off, but I couldn't tell if this actually tasted like Ube, but it was delicious nevertheless. The lemon flavored donut was my favorite. I know the filling is an artificial lemon flavor, but that didn't matter as it was still my favorite Lol. Getting here can be tricky; you're either coming in from the main road (Woodside) or if at the intersection you make a right or left on Orchard Avenue, there is this tight entrance with low clearance you can drive your car through.
