We went this past Friday to Chuck's We went for the after hours appys They are 1/2 price after 9pm Their appy hour The spot was busy on a Friday It definitely has a sports bar/casual vibe There was a Jays game on so that's likely why it was busy We ordered from the appy menu for our meal We ordered the sliders, mozzarella sticks, bruschetta flatbread and the onion rings Meal was okay We loved the onion rings and sliders The flatbread wasn't so good and the mozza sticks....thought the sauce that accompanied them was ehhhh Maybe I would try something different next time ....but could have been better

7oz sirloin steak dinner medium rare.

First time at this location. I ordered top sirloin steak with fries Had a Guinness draft to start, it was bitter and not cold enough. The same everywhere though recently for Guinness, probably not a fault of the restaurant. For the steak though, it's fresh but very tough meat, had to chew a lot, felt like I was eating a well done steak but I ordered medium rare. The colour of the meat was right so I didn't ask to have a other one, figured it's the quality of the cut that's not up to par. Not many people in the restaurant so it was quiet enough for us to talk without having to raise our voice. The corn really had no flavour, maybe a hint of butter on the very bottom, other locations were more generous on the butter. I had to add salt to the corn. I don't think I would come to this location again.

Stopped in to this Chuck's Roadhouse location for dinner. The wait time for a table was very reasonable. The inside of the restaurant was clearly very well kept and the staff were going above and beyond to make sure the guests had a good, safe and hygienic experience. I ordered: Top Sirloin & Lobster Tail - $20 7oz steak with a thick juicy lobster lobster tail. I asked for the steak cooked medium, and it was done perfectly. I substituted the fried for a side Caesar salad, it was creamy and delicious. I also ordered a side gravy for the steak which I highly recommend doing. Everything was delicious! My bf ordered: Ribs & Wings - $14.99 He substituted the fries for mashed potatoes, and got a side gravy as well. It was a lot of food, definitely worth the price. Our waitress was great. I can't remember her name, however she was the only waitress working all tables that night, and even though restaurant capacity is much less, she was still friendly and efficient while handling all the tables by herself. I would definitely recommend this location of Chuck's Roadhouse, and I will be returning.

    13oz T-Bone steak

I had come here intending to order wings and a salad but the steak menu is so darn tempting, even though my last steak was overcooked. Where else can I get a 9oz Ribeye, 10oz Top Sirloin, or 13oz T-Bone for only $14.99 (with fries and corn on the cob)? I gave in and ordered the 13oz T-Bone medium-rare and added on the all-you-can-eat Garden Salad for only $4.00. What a deal! I also ordered a 12oz glass of beer for $3.00. Yesss! The salad arrived first, in a large wooden bowl. It was a very generous serving. There's no way I could have seconds. Great value. The steak arrived before I was finished with the salad. It was definetly thicker than the ribeye I had last time. It was also seasoned better and they nailed the temperature on it, medium-rare. Mmm, this was a good steak. This was definitely a better experience than my last, and worthy of a review update. The prices are cheap! Or are they? They have this thing called an Honest to Goodness Fee where they automatically add 3% to your overall bill. Huh? What? Why? Why not just add the 3% to the menu prices? This strategy artificially makes the menu prices seem lower. In the overall scheme of things, 3% may not seem like a lot but the concept is suspect. That 14.99 steak now becomes 15.44 and I would probably still buy it at that price. Would you? If the government proposed a 3% increase in taxes, we'd be screaming and rioting. This fee is pretty much the same thing. That's my opinion. Taxes and gratuities are still extra. Hmmm...

Average food but I really like the 1/2 price off appetizers after 9pm deal. It's such a good deal and I like how they open late as well. Food is mediocre but for $6-8 a dish it's acceptable. Service is also okay.

Their nachos - it's good, but basic

This location is pretty good, the food has that traditional pub/bar taste. They price their food at a cheap rate considering what they are. They have all you can eat salads for $10, half off appetizers after 9pm, & even deals on pints of beers considering the sporting events trending. Their staff are relatively friendly depending on who you get. When they are busy, expect to be neglected or feel the need to repeat your order to them so you can actually get it.

7oz Top Sirloin with Lobster Tail ($20)
    Tracy T.

The food took WAY too long to be served on a Thursday night (~45minutes) but this is just about the best "value" steak meal you can get anywhere. For only $20, you're looking at a 7oz top sirloin and lobster tail combo (with corn on a cob and fries) and for $15, you can get yourself a 9oz ribeye, 10oz top sirloin, or 13oz T-bone combo! Given the price, set realistic expectations of what the meal is going to be like - the quality is acceptable but nothing more. Take it as it is and come by if you're looking for a place to grab cheap beer and steak.

Note: this particular location had only been open a week. My wife suggested this place and a way to support a new business in the area. The place was packed and the waiting area was too small to contain all of the eager customers. We, thankfully, arrived just ahead of the rush. We were promptly seated and had time to browse the menu and were ready when our server took our drink order. I had the roast beef sandwich with fries and a French Onion soup to start. My wife had their burger with fries. Dessert was their coconut cream pie. The soup arrived quickly but was stone cold. The cheese hadn't even melted. It took me 5 mins to flag our server to tell her the problem. I waited another 10 mins to get my soup (hot) just ahead of my main. The server apologised and said the kitchen was still ironing out the bugs. Ok. I guess. The rest of the meal was decent. However, swell of waiting customers was getting too much. Between the noise and two brats who just couldn't stay still and her running around. It was getting intolerable. At one point the father grabbed his youngest son and said, "Stop F@&)king Around!!" Then again it was a Thursday night and after 7:00 pm. There were other places near by that were more kid friendly. Suggestion: avoid being seated anywhere near the front door. The dessert was very good. The menu for the desserts are all under $5.00 and priced just right for a shared end to the meal. The roast beef sandwich and burger were very good and we will be back to try more of the menu without the romper room side show. PS We went there again this week. Suggestion #1: if you order the nachos. Please ask to have the sour cream, guacamole and salsa on the side. If not it will be plopped on top. Suggestion #2: Do not order the Buffalo Chicken topping. A waste of money Suggestion #3: Unless you like cold custard avoid Chuck dessert. The hot apple or banana cream pie are the better options.

Waited 25 minutes... okay, it's new. Order drinks...wait. Drink comes with lipstick print... nasty. Bill comes... tea not deducted. Don't go here until they learn how to run a restaurant.

Takeout steak was not bad....but not great. Much better when you dine at restaurant but considering covid, it was not bad.

Great place! Tasty food and good service! Very reasonably priced! Love it! My favorite is the roast beef dinner. It's a winner. Lots of flavor and generous portions! You can get unlimited salad added to your main for about $4 or $5 which is a great deal.

Their menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, and fries, with variations of each. I decided on the Banquet Burger Combo, which included an 8oz homemade burger with cheese and bacon, fries, and a drink for only $14.00, including tax. I stepped up to the window to place my order and.. Hang on! What's this? A handwritten sign was posted next to the window with the day's special - Pulled Pork Sandwich with choice of Fries or Onion Rings, and a drink for only $12.00, including tax! Yesss! I'll have that! It was awesome, much better than I expected. There was a generous amount of meat piled into a fresh bun, along with some coleslaw and BBQ sauce. It ended up being a bit messy but absolutely delicious! This was a great tasting sandwich with very good texture! The crispy Onion Rings were also quite excellent and not greasy at all. Due to COVID restrictions, there was no seating available but they do have a covered area and a couple of oversized picnic tables. They'll also be adding a portable toilet on-site shortly. Yes, I did say portable toilet. This place is, after all, built from what appears to be a portable trailer. I will definitely be back to try that burger, and other things from their menu!

Pillow-y fluffy super soft brioche buns with thick juicy beefy patties, veggies were super fresh and crispy. Loved "The Melt". Mushrooms kept moist and crunchy texture, perfect thickness and done-ness, super flavourful, matching perfectly with melted Swiss cheese. Poutine's gravy had spiciness to it, which was not my liking. But the cheese was stretchy indicating good quality. If I got this eat-in, it must have tasted different (much better). But this is a Burger joint, and their burgers are EXCELLENT! We got two burgers, fries and onion rings. All were really great. Burgers were classic with a soft bun, some veg and standard toppings - but everything was really fresh and the meat tasted great. Fries and onion rings were both fantastic. Ready to go for our order but still tasted fresh - we ate in the car and shared. The onion rings were particularly good. I'm not sure if the app is different than ordering in store but the descriptions on the website don't quite match the customizations. The website listed the double McCoy would to include two 4.5 oz. patties and two slices of real Canadian Cheddar Cheese however the cheese was extra charge on the app. Food 3/5 We ordered the Double McCoy burger combo with poutine and chocolate milkshake in addition to McCoy burger. The burgers were okay but nothing exceptional and at the time writing don't really recall much of it. The poutine was loaded with gravy which would normally be a great thing however all the fries were soggy by the time we got home so we'll never know if they were crispy to begin with. The gravy itself lacked flavour and was more or less a sauce with a hint of saltiness. The milkshake was perhaps the only thing that stood out in the this meal. It was rich, creamy, chocolatey and a good way to end the meal. I can't quite comment on the service as we picked up the order and ordered through an app. The order was ready to go by the time we went to pick it up so I didn't have much interaction with the staff either. They were quick to complete my order and were nice with the limited time I was in the store. Overall I would like to come back to the restaurant when dine in resumes to try the other menu items in the store. I would like to try the food when it's hot and hopefully be able to get a better judgement of what the food is really like.

For ages, we passed by Big M, noting its classic retro vibe and steady flow of customers. For years, we brushed off the recommendations of Pickering friends, but now, we have finally decided to stop by for a burger. There is outdoor seating only, so in the winter, Big M is a take-out only restaurant. Nevertheless, it was doing a brisk business at 6:00 on a Saturday. We each ordered Banquet Burgers (cheese and bacon). My husband and daughter ordered fries; I went for onion rings. They also each ordered a milkshake. Our opinion was united in that the burgers, shakes, fries and onion rings were exactly what the traditional, retro décor would lead us to expect. You'll not find surprising toppings or artisanal brioche buns at Big M, nor will you encounter the trending smash-burger. Rather, Big M succeeds because it delivers a fantastic version of the sort of burger that your Dad or Grandpa might have grilled up, or the burgers from that retro diner that you parents may or may not have dropped by on their way to the cottage that your family may or may not have visited or owned. Even if these weren't part of your childhood experiences, Big M serves up great traditional fare. Our burgers were made to order as we watched, and had a pleasantly browned and smoky finish, flame-licked by the grill, fresh, tasty toppings. The burger patty itself was neither thick nor thin, but classic 1/2 inch or so. The toasted Kaiser roll stayed crispy, and survived the trip home without getting soggy. The onion rings were the old fashioned, somewhat ponderous kind, as opposed to a lighter tempura style batter, and I relied on my husband to finish eating them on my behalf. But that substantial batter was exactly the right choice to pair with a traditional burger. The shakes were also traditional milk shakes, as opposed to, simply, "shakes", which may or may not contain actual milk or ice cream. The take-away: Big M is what it appears to be, a classic diner offering simple, diner-style fare. As such, it delivers a satisfying meal that more than meets the expectations: words like retro, traditional and home-style spring to mind. If you are in search of a trending, cheffy and possibly pricy experience (and I do tend to flock to those, when budget permits!), then Big M is probably not for you. However, for well-executed, basic, down to earth cooking, Big M serves up an excellent retro experience at a reasonable price. I'll be back to try the Whistle Dog (cheese and bacon) and the Canadian burger (Cheese and Peameal), plus another order of those indulgent onion rings.
