We came for dinner. It was our 1st time here. They have a parking lot and we were able to grab a spot easily. Since we did not know the layout, we entered in the bar. We walked back out and found the door to the restaurant. Staff is warm and friendly and we were seated quickly. Our server was Robert and he was great! He gave his recommendations for which sides would go best with our meals and I felt they were spot on. They give complimentary bread and butter. It was warm and delicious. Hubby ordered the rib tips with fries, baked beans, and had the hot and mild barbecue sauce on the side. I ordered the 1/2 dark smoked chicken dinner with mac-n-cheese, spicy Cajun green beans, and spicy honey garlic barbecue sauce. I agree with Robert, that the sauce pairs very well with the chicken. The tips were tender and falling off the bone. He didn't care for the fries and loved the baked beans, even though they were a bit too spicy for him. My chicken was also very tender and I enjoyed the smokiness. The green beans had the right amount of spice although they were not as spicy as the baked beans. The mac-n-cheese was creamy. The lighting and décor felt festive without being overwhelming, and the space itself is huge. In the mood for a little barbecue tonight, stopped by Chuck's very close to Midway Airport. Had plenty of parking in the front and on the back. The restaurant was cozy and plenty of tables to sit. The hostess said I could sit anywhere so I grabbed a booth and was waiting on right away. I ordered the two meat sampler and got three ribs with brisket, baked potato, and macaroni cheese. They don't just have bbq and southern food, but they also have some Mexican dishes and a few seafood dishes. The interior is a bit dated and a country style. I ordered a gourmet burger, and added the cheddar and bacon for $1 more. It's supposedly a tri blend, which I typically enjoy. I chose mac n cheese as a side. My colleagues ordered the brisket plate and the catfish platter. My burger was okay, but it's still a pre-formed patty. My clients brisket was dry for the most part, but he said the beans were awesome and the cornbread was pretty good as well. My colleague indicated the catfish was good. Overall, it's close and convenient if I'm ever back in the area, but I wouldn't go out of ky way to come here. read more

Suffering from nutritional confusion as my hangry light was illuminated, I chose Chuck's for a Saturday afternoon lunch. There was plenty of parking and there were no issues finding a spot. Brief wait to be seated but the staff were warm and inviting. There is outdoor seating, a bar, table and booth seating. Thus making this a good spot for those dining alone, date night or groups. There are also themed nights for painting, karaoke and other merriment on a rotating basis. For an appetizer, we opted for the boudain balls and the rib tips with mild and spicy bbq sauce. There was a small misunderstanding as I didn't want the tips separated but the two sauces combined over the rib tips. Nonetheless, it gave us a chance to taste the sauces individually and each were good. The tips were tender and I found it to be an appropriate serving for an appetizer. The boudain balls were tasty and come with a remoulade sauce but are good without it. At this point, we had to rethink our entree choices and thought it'd be better to share a plate. I knew I wanted catfish and the spouse wanted brisket. I was surprised it wasn't a whole fillet but one cut in half. By choosing the two meat plate, it comes with two sides and we paid for a bun for the brisket to make a sandwich. The baked beans were good but I was expecting more of a BBQ sauce profile. The Cajun fries were decent and came out hot. Clearly eating with our eyes, we split a peach cobbler that comes with vanilla ice cream on top. Be careful eating pitted fruit dishes as small pieces of the pit may be present. This was the case when I bit down on a small piece of peach pit. For my drink, the patio pounder, I added some simple syrup as it tasted like it was missing something. It has almost the same ingredients as their Long Island Ice Tea except the peach liquor. I would opt for a different drink on a subsequent visit. Overall, good customer service and I would dine here again. A military discount is available on Thursdays. Capable of cash, card and you can pay at the table. There were no dining surcharges noted. read more

The waiter was fantastic, the food was average, the BBQ shrimp were good and the bread was fantastic. The rib tips were over cooked, but the sauces are pretty good. The catfish tasted spoiled, the brisket had an inconsistent cook, and the flavor tasted oven cooked not on a grill. One thing that left a bad taste in my mouth is after waiting 20 minutes for dessert (peach cobbler), I was told it was burned and the manager didn't offer an alternative, and had a nonchalant attitude about the whole thing, even turning his back and walking away while apologizing. I'm always very hesitant to order ribs at barbecue places because they need to fall off the bone! I took a chance at this place and across the board the food was excellent! The ribs did in fact fall off the bone and from the first bite I knew I made the right decision. Great family vibe and the waitress was friendly and helpful when we ask questions about the menu. Macaroni lacked a little flavor but good, cornbread was a little dry but good as was the brisket, but despite all of this, none of it affected the overall meal experience. This is one place that tries to cover food from every part of the south with its own twist on things. Chucks is a good place to check out if you have that picky eater and especially if that picky eater frowns upon buffets. Despite not having bbq in its name you know what you are in for when there is a pig on there sign. We decided to check this place out and the menu was pack with options. I started off with a Front Porch Tea which is basically a LIT. I always say I like to start off with the basics to see how a place does with the simple things. Hey if you can get the basics right then the foundation is there. For an appetizer I decided to try the tip, just the tips, the rib tips with half being mild bbq sauce and the other half being spicy. We also got the boudin balls. I wish that they had just the boudin links but this was still good. I am not the biggest fan of rib tips but they are popular in Chicago and you could actually make this app your full meal. Pretty good I will say and actually more meat on the tips than I am use to when compared to many other Chicago bbq spots. We actually just ended up sharing the two sampler meal because the appetizer was that fulfilling. For our meal we went with the sampler consisting of fried fish, shredded pork, fries and baked beans. I added a bun to make a shredded pork sandwich and with the bbq sauces at the table you can customize it with various flavors. I was not disappointed and had plenty of the pork leftover. The portion sizes will not leave you thinking that you got cheated. This place has some of the most reasonable prices I have seen in a long time. Service was great and this is a place I would easily frequent again. That is saying a great deal with the Chicago area having so many options that this place stands out to me. A solid four star place to checkout. Oh, and I almost forgot. Despite being full we went with dessert for once. I'll start with service in this review first. The waitress that helped my family and I order was really nice and she presented herself very professionally and with good manners. The ambiance of this restaurant is calm and clean. Love that they have 3 sections for people to be in depending on the persons mood. They have an outdoor patio, bar area and a casual dining area. I had the rib tip dinner and it was delicious! Meat was tender and smoked to perfection. The sauce added was on point and if you want more they have self serve bottles nearby. My two sides were the baked beans and the Cajun fries, both delicious as well. I tried my daughter's jalapeño cornbread and it was so soft and full of flavor, definitely getting that next time on the side. Portions were perfect, I could not finish my meal but at least I get to take some home and enjoy the next day. Price was good and not overpriced especially for the amount of food you get and the quality. My family and I will definitely come back and try some more items on the menu. So I finally went to Chuck's which was highly recommended by friends. Me and my friend went there he is a rib connoisseur. It started out great our bbq chicken appetizer was juicy and plump. Our waitress was excellent the desserts we had was the cobbler and the banana pudding were both excellent. We both ordered the bbq combo we had the ribs and pulled pork and this is where things went downhill. The pulled pork was ok not the best or worst. The ribs were where something went wrong. I have tried all types of ribs from Kansas City to Texas to Memphis to North Carolina and even Chicago has some descent rib places. THE RIBS WERE DRIED AND NOT SEASONED CORRECTLY I SHOWED THE MANAGER AND SHE AGREED MAYBE THEY HAD A BAD DAY. Their hot dinner rolls are addictive. I come here for the ribs, but they have good brisket and catfish too. The restaurant is divided into the east side is the Voodoo Lounge, the west side is the dining room. The lounge had karaoke going, and the singer was pretty good. The dining room was getting ready for their big Easter day buufet. There were a few tables there on Friday night, but the dining room was not loud. Our waitstaff was well versed on the menu and kept an eye on our table. We finished off with Coconut Banana Cream Pie, I found it coconut forward, if you like coconut, this is for you. My husband had the strawberry swirl cheesecake, I took a bite and felt it had a fake strawberry flavor (like Nestlé Quick), my husband told me I was nuts. Update: 2/15/26 - They really turned thus restaurant around. Food is much better now that they don't have multiple complex menus. We had the smoked chicken, roasted veggies and mashed potatoes with sage gravy with a cup of seafood gumbo. My husband had the turkey club. The chicken was very good and tender, light smoke flavor, veggies were fresh and mashed potatoes and sage gravy was yummy. The seafood gumbo is my favorite. A little spicy and delicious with chunks of seafood, fresh sasuage and veggies. Service was great with fresh hot rolls. Dining room was large and well taken care of. Will be back again! read more

Today was beignet breakfast and since I was already planning an excursion to the south suburbs, this seemed like a good idea. It has been well over three years since I've been to Chuck's but not much has changed. In fact, the one thing that may have changed (because I'm not sure if this was completed pre-pandemic or not) is their outdoor space which is more sheltered than it used to be. It seems like a place that could easily be heated in the cooler fall days too if they wanted. Besides the beignets, which were good, I got the machacado omelette. I think I've eyed it before but never wanted to deviate from my typical omelette choice but decided to give the machacado a try this time. All the ingredients are things I like so why not? So while I'm glad I tried it and put that curiosity to rest, I didn't like it.
