Maybe he has hit a rough spot in life, I'd used him 2 times over a year ago and it went well. However, he is not reliable right now and I would not use him under any circumstances. Tuesday I had a breakdown returning to Portland from Seattle. We scheduled a time at 5pm for him to meet me in Castle Rock and agreed to a price. He wrote at 4pm to say his current job was taking longer than expected. I wrote him at 5 and asked for an ETA. Called him at 6. Texted again. No response. Finally at 6:30 I had to start looking for another tow truck, and by then it was after hours and the prices go up. The guy from Jacobson's Chevron had to leave home to come get me. Good guy, And we were able to get the car home, but it was hundreds of dollars more than what Tony had offered. No explanation ever came, no text, no call, nothing. And stuck paying hundreds of more dollars. Really strange as a repeat customer especially. Avoid Urban Miner until he corrects what is going on and addresses how his business reviews are tanking...

I pulled over, gave them a call, explained my situation, and they told me I could come in right then for a quote. I turned my car around, and within just a few minutes, they had looked at it and given me a quote that was lower than the others I had received. It was around the 4th of July, so it did take a little longer than I had hoped to get the parts in and have the work completed. That said, the wait was absolutely worth it for the excellent service. When I dropped my car off in the morning, they even offered to drive me wherever I needed to go. When I picked up my car, the mirror looked brand new - and they had also taken care of the scratches on the body from the mirror scraping against the car. I was so impressed with both the customer service and the quality of the actual body work. However, due to all the recent ice and snow apparently AAA services are way behind schedule and are not towing from Portland to Vancouver, as that is "out of area". We were advised that we could pay for a tow and AAA would reimburse us. I immediately looked on Yelp, as other Yelpers reviews always make a difference. This is how I found Affordable Towing and Transport. Based on the reviews of great service, I called and like the others had an intermediate response. I explained the situation with my 78-year-old mother needing to get her car towed from SE Portland to North of Battleground, WA. Tom let me know that he had a current car on his truck, but could make it to my mothers location in a reasonable amount of time and transport her and her car safely home. This was wonderful as I was still at home in Vancouver, but was reassured that she would be taken care of and I would not need to drive down there to her location. (Mom was safe and sound as she'd been visiting my handicapped sister.) When he showed up, he said that it sounded like she had a dead battery. However a local do-gooder said that he had already tried to jump her car and to him it seemed like the starter. So Tom loaded up the car and took my mom to her home north of Battleground. It turns out Tom was completely correct in his assessment. My mother had left her car lights on for over 40 minutes and the car battery had died. How many tow truck drivers would have diagnosed an issue that would not require a tow? I am ever so impressed with that level of customer service! As it was now rush-hour traffic, my mother and Tom had a wonderful conversation on the long drive to her home. She simply cannot say enough good things about this wonderful man. And her housemate was also extremely impressed, as Tom was concerned about the neighbors and had even turned off his truck lights while dropping off her car. The housemate also asked for Tom's card for whenever he needs a tow, as he has a bunch of kids who love working on cars. It is such a blessing to have a man like this out on the roads helping others. With a kind heart and thoughtfulness towards others, I would consider him the one to hire whenever I also should need a tow of any kind. Please do give him your business, as he is the sole owner and operator. This is the kind of small company we should all be supporting!
