I was in town on business with a small group. I found this place Yelp. We were not disappointed! I had the Chulla Signature Omelet and pancakes. It was one of the best omelets I ever had at a restaurant. The side sauces were delicious, just the right amount of spice. The breakfast potatoes were perfect- crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. We all loved our breakfasts. The owner/chef, who is from Guinee West Africa, came out to greet us and chatted with us for a few minutes. He even let us sample his spinach dish. What was really impressive is that he made the hibiscus, also called sorrel or Agua de jamaica in Spanish, juice from real hibiscus! (I saw it cooking in a big pot.) We were so impressed with the food that came back later that day and ordered take out. I had the Okra Stew with chicken. Again, did not disappoint! I wish he had a place in LA. So far I've had the privilege (with some help) to sample their NY Steak, Grilled Snapper, MaFisa Fish & Chips, and Chicken Shawarma with a variety of sides such as potatoes, buttered rice and fries. All were delicious; it is refreshing to enjoy a meal and not have to reach for condiments and additional seasoning. A nice touch was the brioche bun as opposed to the generic one found with most hamburgers. We just found out about this place and decided to give it a try. So glad we did! The service was so great and the food was delicious! They seem to have a little bit of something for everyone.
