Had a great lunch while in Capitola today, fantastic, flavorful, cheesy Philly cheesesteak at Robbie's sandwiches. Bread toasted lightly was flaky good and light melted in your mouth with yummy hot cheese with loads of fresh sautéed beef, onions n peppers. So good, also enjoyed a batch of their freshly fried onions rings w side of ranch dressing to make my lunch simply awesome. Pros: sandwich is large and they give you a bunch of fries. The price is also super reasonable. I think it was $12 for the Philly w/ fries and a fountain drink. Cons: The Philly is why I went there and it lacked cheese. There was just enough to cover the area where it's cut in half but that was about it. Super disappointed about that. I guess extra cheese is necessary. The meat was well over cooked and so was the veggies (literally burnt bell peppers) and so what the bread (maybe forgotten about on the panini press. For me, there was only 1 delicious bite that resembled a "proper" Philly. Maybe this was just an off day or a new chef. I would try them again as the prices are reasonable but would probably opt to try something different. Service was fast and super friendly. read more

We went to the place because of all of the favorable reviews and we hadn't been to Capitola Beach in years. We didn't have time to pack sandwiches, so as usual, we went to Yelp to see who was best rated and closest in proximity. What a significant disappointment. Firstly, the beef kabob salad was a disappointment It was thrown together and the beef was more like lulu kebab. The meat was fatty and cold. It was seasoned with sweet spices that were overwhelming for my senses. The salad was all iceberg lettuce and a few tomatoes. It was as basic as one could get. The hummus was flat and tasted less authentic than store bought types The meat was so greasy that it left my pita bread a sopping mess. I ended up taking several bites and throwing the entire thing in the trash. My husband ordered a turkey sandwich and he said the bread was dry and fillings were not desirable. We will not visit here again. It was expensive and the food was not good at all. A huge disappointment to say the least read more

The best deli sandwiches in Capitola! I grew up going to the best Mom and Pop sub shops in NY/NJ and this place takes me back there! Their bread is tasty, can't beat the hand carved meats, the portions are decent, the price is right and their menu options are great! My go to is the Turkey, Bacon, Cheese with Pesto mayo. I ask for it with swiss and extra pesto mayo and they always hook it up! The bacon is extra crispy and delicious! The only thing that would make it an authentic NY/NJ deli is offering oil & vinegar with herbs and spices. But hey, we're in CA so all good. I've gone here a few times, this place used to be Joes Pizza and Subs and kept a lot of the menu items. The food quality is good and the people are friendly. It's a decent lunch spot. That said, I wish it was open later and the portions do not match the price. My last order was a gyro and fries, the fries are worth it but the gyro wrap leaves a lot to be desired in terms of value for the price. They used to have generous portions in their sandwiches but the last few times I've gone the sandwich's aren't as big but the price hasn't changed or has increased. I think I'd pay a little more for a generous portion. As is, I might go somewhere else if I want a sandwich. read more

They have a small table with a couple of chairs in front. Found a gentleman enjoying it with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale can in the beautiful sun! Brownranch has a nice feel to it. The cashier brought my sandwiches outside & I was off. Got home with my wife & I ready to eat. The Philly's were GREAT! ALL FLAVOR! I paid 25 dollars for 2 sandwichs and ended up leaving before my food arrived. I witnessed the cook in the back move back and forth doing things from changing the channel on the tv, to pulling up his sagging pants over and over with his gloves that he then touched my food with. I door dashed Robbies which might have been part of the problem. They charged extra to get the sandwich toasted and in the end it was definitely not toasted despite the extra money. My wife and I asked for two cheese burgers and one order of onion rings. Everything was over cooked. The onion rings were solid and hard, I ate almost one ring and that's all. I finished about a third of the hamburger. Dry and tasteless. The Cook came out and asked how it was, I responded "over cooked!" She said "Thank you" and went back into the kitchen!
