I am in the great city of Savannah, as my friend is hosting me here for a few days. She took me over to Churchill's during our walk in the Historic District on a Sunday, to take a break and catch some of the NFL London game. First we were met by the hostess at the front Rashida, who greeted us with that Southern Hospitality I am enjoying here! We sat at the bar for a cocktail to rest a bit and to watch some of the game. We were served by Eden, an excellent bartender with wit and charm who had us laughing while she asked us for ID and I joked that I was old enough to be her "older" brother lol. She served us great drinks and we enjoyed the time that we spent here, she was funny and told us some additional spots to check out in the area. A great time was had and we will be back later in the week and look forward to seeing Eden again in a great place. Great food and atmosphere! Husband had the Steak & Alr pie and says was one of the best meals he's had in a while - rich flavor sauce and flaky pastry topping. Bangers and mash were also delicious, although I would have preferred a less thick gravy. English peas good. I also really enjoyed the Pink Starburst cocktail - perfectly sweet and sour delicious. Visiting Savannah- Churchills was located across the street from the Hyatt Regency (on the River) - stopped in for a lunch started with a few drinks Yuengling Larger $4 Savannah Refresher $13 (Vodka, Muddled Berries, Prosecco, Simple Syrup & Lemon Juice) pretty tasty & refreshing ;-) - not very strong but did the job on a hot & humid day. Had a few starters - Scotch Egg ($8) Churchills Nibbler ($17) basically an assortment of appetizers (Sausage Roll, Black & Tan Onion Rings & Fried Green Tomatoes) Onion Rings were spot on delicious with a light horseradish aioli, nice crunch on the batter. The Fried Green Tomatoes were topped with a Pimento Cheese type spread) Both the Scotch Egg & Fried Green Tomato batter could have been cooked a bit longer - there wasn't much of a crunch and the batter more or less slipped off - bummer... We ended up ordering the Cottage Pie ($16) & shared it (comes with a salad - the protein was ground beef seasoned properly) Potatoes we're slightly browned which gave the dish a nice presentation. We Really Love it and it was filling - highly recommend trying it out. It's been a few years since I'd visited Churchills and i was looking forward to tasting some good ole British food. I was extremely disappointed to find that although the menu was the same, the food didn't resemble what I'd had in the past and was not good. The roast beef was not roast beef, but instead had been boiled - aka stew beef in sliced form, the mash had skins in it (never seen ithat n England), the green beans were raw. I asked for either English mustard or horseradish, the waitress proudly said we have both. After bringing American mustard, honey mustard and stone ground mustard and passing them off as English, they gave up. The horseradish was creamy and so lacking in flavor it coukd have passed for mayo. The one difficult thing to make was the Yorkshire pudding, and that was actually decent, the rest, terrible. 10/10 recommend to a friend the service we had with Kendra. She was amazing and so much fun! Majority of our table got the bottomless mimosas and she stayed on top of it making sure to refill every time she came to the table & some all while still doing all of her other responsibilities. Thank you for so many great laughs and great service Kendra! The food was good! It is a little pricy and the portions are small. It was not enough food for my husband, so not the best bang for your buck... but the waffles may be worth it. Idk what they do to them but they were SO FREAKING GOOD! The mimosa flight was yummy and I enjoyed trying the 4 different flavors. The blueberry needed to be stirred a little as it was thick and settled at the bottom but not a deal breaker for me to order it again. We had a very disappointing dinner at Churchill's. My party had reservations for 8 pm on a Saturday, and we were seated promptly. However, almost 20 minutes passed, and no one had come to greet us or take our drink order. When I inquired about our waiter, I found out that the person standing near our table was our waiter, who was trying to sort out the check for his previous table. I understand, but he could have at least acknowledged us, offered a drink, and told us he would be with us shortly. Finally, another waitress named Emily took our order. The food was average, the price point was not commensurate with the food quality or ambiance, and, to make matters worse, two bathrooms were out of order. read more

We were with another couple but we arrived first. We were seated right away. The atmosphere is nice. Our waitress came by for drinks. We were waiting a little longer than expected for our friends but our waitress never came back to see if we wanted an appetizer. When they came, she asked if we were ready to order which I found a little annoying as thy were only there moments before she asked. Two in our party ordered salads and we never got them before our meal and never saw her to ask about them. When our food came, the food runner brought my pot pie but I asked about the dressing because it don't look like balsamic and he literally dropped the plate on the table in front of me. Everyone at the table all looked at each other wondering what that was about. The other plates were also set down rather roughly. Right after they were put down the waitress came back and asked if everything was good. We hadn't eaten anything to see. She did come back once for drinks. Overall her timing was lacking but she seemed very young. The food was delicious and we all loved what we had. We all said we would be back despite the service seeming a little off. Churchill's is a hidden gem. Our first time in Savannah, as well as our wedding anniversary, and the staff treated us so well... especially Akeya. She was amazing, friendly, quick and very helpful! My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and said it was easily one of the best he has had. All of the food we had was very flavorful and tasted great. Appetizer - we had the pretzels (so good). Dinner - I had the French onion soup (amazing) and the salad with blackened chicken (chicken was very good), and my husband had the snapper and grits (he loved). The chefs don't pay attention to you. I order my sauce on the side and they put it on my food. The they remade it so they say. But when I got back to my hotel the sauce was still on the food. So don't expect you food to be right. Now I need to go pay for another dinner even though they comped the order I still need to get a new dinner. read more

I've eaten here a couple of nights this week. Neither night was disappointing in any way. Service at the bar was reasonably quick, and very accommodating. I went out of my normal English food selection and went with the honey glazed salmon. Perfectly cooked with amazing sweet potato mash and asparagus and .... Well, it was really great. Second meal was at a table and service was also excellent. Fish and chips were perfectly cooked. Peas were not very tasty but okay. Really good piece of haddock. I did get the trifle and this was the only disappointment. A dry sponge sandwiched with cream and strawberries served with a strawberry coolie and blueberries was a little dry for me. It begged for a layer of jello/(jelly in UK) to break down the dryness. English trifle is a nice sloppy mix of sponge and custard and sponge and fruit and..... this wasn't. Otherwise a nice experience. I do wish more English pubs here served more English beer. I can't find Speckled Hen anywhere but this would be a great place to find some .... If only. read more

10/10 - we LOVED Churchill's! We came in for lunch and to watch the World Cup game. Sat at the bar so we'd have the best view of the TV, but there were tables near the bar area you'd be able to see just as well. We stayed long enough to capture happy hour benefits with $2 off all drafts. Great deal when the beers start at $6! This was our first visit to Churchill's. It was beautiful on the inside, felt like a real British pub. Our server, Kate, was amazing. She always checked on our table, refilling drinks, and making sure everything was great. Our food was amazing. We ordered wings (the largest wings we ever had), fish and chips, chicken pot pie, and chicken tenders. This has become our favorite restaurant in Savannah. The food will not disappoint. I came to Churchhill for a nice dinner at their rooftop that they advertise on the street. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with their rooftop. There's no view of the water, and only give you of a back alley. The service was actually very good and very tentative, but I found that their menu was slightly limited. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner but maybe for drinks with a group of friends. The ambience on the first floor is definitely an older silo bar and the setting is nice. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite. Two of us got the vegetable quiche, which was good but kind of dry. The salads were very filling that came with the quiche. Hubby and I each ordered a slider dish. He ordered the crab cake slider and I ordered the chicken bacon ranch sliders. We each switched a slider so we had 1 of each, both were delicious, the fries were good as well. We had a free pretzel bites appetizers which were odd, and I'm glad they were free. The service was good, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable.
