If you're there for a Rodizio, you'll find it a 5-star treat. If you're on the non-rodizio menu, you may have a problem. Two of us ordered the very-excellent garlic shrimp for appetizer; however after we ordered the seafood main courses, we must have waited at least 45 minutes. The paella was excellent; the shrimp-stuffed talapia was bland. After delivery of the meals, I asked "where the "potato chips" and rice were?" and they do not come with every meal. Due to the very long wait time, they graciously gave us both, but I feel they would do much better to make it a standard. read more

They still appear to be working out the glitches with servers following their relocation. The food is fabulous but you may find yourself waiting 10-15 minutes just to get a menu. They fill you up on carbs like rice, beans, etc. and take so long to finally bring out any type of meat and even then the meat was ok at best. They also serve a ton of chicken in the beginning so by the time you get to the steak you are full. It was about 1 1/2 hours before they finally started serving steak. My friend and I had really high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately we were disappointed from the start. Our server was one of the most unattentive I have ever had. We waited almost 30 minutes from the moment we finished until we were able to wave her down for our check. The meat came out really quickly one after the other, and honestly the only thing I liked was the chicken sausage and the filet wrapped in bacon. I asked for the filet again after were were done and you would have thought I asked for a million dollars. I got another piece and this time it was overcooked and dried out, just like the rest of our meal had been. All the meat was a little greasy and, as stated, was very flavorless and dried out. Not good. The sides were very bland, although the fried banana was good (would have been nice if the waitress came around even once during our meal so we could have asked for more). If you are looking for good rodizio don't go here. Spent way too much money to be as unsatisfied as we were. read more

We usually go to Newark for brazilian food, but thought we would try this place. Our waitress was not really good. We waited almost 1 1/2 hours to get our food after placing our order and was told it was a glitch in the computer system. Meanwhile, people at tables around us who arrived 30 minutes after we did, had their food and were almost done before we were even brought the appetizer. The menu is limited and there is no children's menu. We were told there was chicken fingers and pasta for kids, so my 8 year old granddaughter ordered chicken fingers. They were not chicken fingers at all, it was a grilled chicken dinner from the menu that they cut into strips, not breaded, and all kinds of parsley, cheese and seasonings on it, which kids would most likely not like. We were charged $24.95 for this dinner that my granddaughter hardly touched. My other granddaughter ordered the pasta, which came out swimming in butter and had cheese already on it, which she did not like. That small bowl of pasta cost $13.95. Even though the manager did try to rectify the poor service by giving a complimentary pitcher of sangria and did not charge for the appetizer that we said after 1 1/2 hours we did not want, we still will not return. The rodizio was ok, but does not compare to the rodizio at Ferndandes Steak House in Newark. I know some other folks who came in awhile after us were not too happy either. It took the waitress 30 minutes to bring them cream for their coffee and another table had been waiting for their food for almost an hour. read more

My Son and I had a 6PM reservation on Saturday 11/24 - When we got there, there were only 2 tables open so I definitely recommend making a reservation. We started with the fried calamari that was lightly battered and very tasty - We both chose the Rodizio as we had heard from friends that it was the way to go - The wait staff was great - always coming by and filling water and checking in - Shortly after the appetizer, they brought out beans, rice, potatoes, bruschetta, fried bananas and some greens - then the meat started and kept on coming from about 6:30 until 7:45 - during that time we had tried over 11 different meats, had 2 bowls of the potato chips, 2 bowls of fried bananas as well as all of the other sides- so by this point we both had had enough and threw in the towel - but they would have brought more if we wanted - The only thing that I would say would be a miss would be the garlic sirloin at the end - it was so overpowered with garlic that it is all I could taste for at least an hour after the meal - other than that - it was a fun place that has amazing food - Definitely going back! read more

Meat a plenty , but very bland, beans tasteless, tilapia from a la carte menu, far from appetizing. The split pea soup tasted like peas water and bacon. If you're accustomed to unseasoned meats other than chicken sausage, this place is fine. I have to start by saying that the review by Larry C is spot on. Staff is ultra attentive and even when your belly is bursting they are trying to get you to eat more of the meet. Certainly they are interested in you getting your moneys worth. As for the selection and this goes for all rodizio's, some are better than others. I for instance was not a fan of the short rib which I found to be too tough the ribs which I found to be overcooked and the filet mignon wrapped in bacon which was not only small but also overcooked. Now to talk about the good stuff. If I we're to go back, which I would, I would spend the majority of my night eating the signature sirloin and Parmesan crusted pork loin. I would steer clear of the chicken chicken sausage and beef ribs. All in all it was a greatexperience and is definitely worth a visit. read more

We have been to Churrascaria Paladar a few times at their old location a store front on Main Street in Hackettstown, it had about 9 tables and like coming home to dinner, warm and friendly. I really enjoyed the Atmosphere and the Owners pampering of all the guests. He was the server, meal bringer, bus boy and all that comprises a good restaurant. His wife was the head Chef and did a wonderful job of preparing all the meals. So it was with some caution and high expectations that we went to their New Location about a half mile East on Route 46 at the Old Pump House Restaurant on the Musconetcong River. This new location is much larger and really a beautiful location, tastefully decorated inside and out. My hopes were that the food and service would remain the same as the old smaller location. I was not to be disappointed, the new location, kitchen and staff members managed to recreate that same feeling as coming home to dinner. Our server Miguel provided us with Great service, friendship and a good reason to come back and visit over and over again. Ask for him by name you won't be disappointed. He also has the best seats in the house overlooking the garden and river. There were six people in our party for this evening. The food was wonderful, tasty and done to perfection. We started with an order of Camarao ao Alho (Garlic Shrimp) (a must have) Ameijoas a' Chefe (Clams with Portuguese sausage) and Chourico Portugues Assado (Roasted Sausage). We had two orders of the Rodizio, an order of Beef ribs with a Brown Sauce, Camarao Com Molho Verde (Shrimp in Green Sauce), Peito De Frango Milanesa (Chicken Breast Milanese) And a Chicken wrapped in Bacon Skewer. All meals were served hot and were very tasty. Everyone in our party enjoyed our meals and for Dessert we had Flan and coffee. All in all we were well fed happy and very, very full. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys good food and wonderful atmosphere. The owners are still doing their jobs of checking on tables and cooking in the kitchen. They are really nice people who are bringing the food of Newark to North Jersey. And they are doing it right...........Reservations are needed as they are pretty busy and plan on spending a few hours if you order the Rodizio.....It takes time to eat all that food......It gets Five Stars from everyone in our party!! read more

I had lunch and dinner here on consecutive days last week. The newly renovated building looks terrific with a great, albeit small, bar area. The food was tremendous - freshly prepared with a very nice staff. Joe at the bar was terrific - friendly, informative and gracious. What a wonderful experience we had at this great local restaurant. The Brazilian menu is wonderful and delicious. The Rodizio, a non-stop, all you can eat, meat (beef, pork, chickent, ribs) dish. The food is great, very authentic to the places in Newark. The serving style, however, is much different. With the rodizio meats are passed once instead of the traditional cycling of the same things being offered constantly. You can, however, ask though so you still get what you're looking for. The only downside was our server. She left for over 30 minutes before bringing our sides and it caused us to sit without meat service starting. This place is very nice for the area (white tablecloths) and a great alternative to all the chains. We were impressed by the quality and value for the mixed set menu. Even on the set menus (for 2 people) the portions could have fed 3-4 people. Don't skip dessert as they had some unique hand made fruit ices. Worst dinning experience of my life. We had reservations and were celebrating 2 birthdays. We were seated promptly upon arriving and our waters were poured. Our server was extremely arrogant but had about a 5 second memory. He asked us if we wanted to order and appetizer we said no. Drinks came about 10 minutes after they were ordered and instead of letting us order when he delivered our drinks he took off leaving us to wait another 15 minutes just to order dinner! Finally he comes and we order the roudizio. (In every other Brazilian steakhouse I have been to this means you essentially can start eating once you order. Not so here and it was not explained to us. They supposedly make their sides fresh which is pretty bad because I have had better sides at a fast food restaurant). About 20 minutes later bread was brought to our table. About 15 minutes after that large plates were brought to our table and our bread and salad was taken leaving us the impression we would be served soon. It was at least 30 minutes later that we were finally brought our sides. The meat was fairly good although much of it was over salted and most of the carvers did not speak English clearly so at times it was difficult to discern what was being offered. To top it all off we had asked about roasted pineapple (a staple at Brazilian steak houses) we were told they would have to check because they only cook it on request. After asking three times a server tells us it's being cooked they just have to put the sugar and cinnamon on it. 10 minutes later we are told "I'm so sorry but we don't have any pineapple". They did offer all 4 of us one piece of cake on the house but really it was too little too late. Fortunately for us we still had a great time with our friends and laughed about how outrageously bad the service was. All in all we were there about 2 1/2 hrs!!! Unless you are in the market for a chaotic dinning experience with less than sub par sides STAY AWAY! read more

The dining experience was horrific. Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for food that they already have prepared. First I thought that we were waiting for my kid's food because they were not getting the Rodizio, but then I realized that we ordered the chicken breast with bacon, the same chicken breast and bacon that they serve to everyone. They "lost" the ticket in the kitchen. After finally getting up to complain our food arrived. And then you would think that they would be all over you, making sure the rest of the dinner went flawless. Nope. Even after we asked for the check and a waiter came by to see if we wanted anymore meat selections that we might have missed or might have wanted a second time we ordered a few selections, and still never got them. Basically had to leave because our children were falling asleep at the table. I know things "happen" but usually a place will bend over backwards to rectify the problem. Not here. This place is great! We went after a friend's suggestion, and oh was it worth it. When walking in, the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. The service was great and the owner greeted us and it was clear that they cared about customers. Now, the food was excellent. We ordered the Espeto Misto and Espeto de Alcatara for of us. The Espeto MIsto had great variety, all which was delicious, and the Espeto de Alcatara was great as well. The side dishes, including the yuca, were amazing as well. The portions were so big that we had plenty of leftovers to take home. A plate for two could have defintely been enough for the four of us! This place just earned repeat customers. read more

My wife and I with another couple had a great time there!! Food was well seasoned it was quiet enough to have a conversation. As soon as we walked in the staff was on point we sat down and they had a ice bucket at the table for our wine. They were very attentive throughout our dinner without being a nuisance. Then we ordered and the food started coming and coming but without feeling rushed. After we paid the bill the servers came and shook our hands as well as the owner / chef. Overall a great experience! been here three times and each time has been better than the next! staff very attentative its byob and they immediately chilled our wine at our request. We haven't yet gotten past the rodizio, but who needs to look beyond this wonderful accommodation. To start they serve wonderfully seasoned collard greens along with amazing sweet fried banana and yucca. The meats are roasted over open flame thats actually visible from almost every table so you can see the chef at work. They only seat about 35-40 people so call for a reservation. We will definitely be back and hopefully this restaurant stays in business its a nice break from the average Italian, Chinese, pub and grub places that exist. read more

Great Rodizio! I have enjoyed dining at many other Rodizio restaurants and the food quality and service at this restaurant is comparable with some of the best. The "Signature" steak is absolutely incredible. While this restaurant does not offer the typical "salad bar" found at some, the flavor and quality of the food certainly compensates. It is a cozy little gem which is fairly priced and very enjoyable. Jose, the owner, chef and server is a wonderful host and this place is not to be missed if you enjoy Rodizio.
