I rarely give five stars, but I can't really take a star away from this place. We sat at the bar. It was a Friday evening, so It was totally packed inside and outside. The bar service was very friendly and precise with the order very accommodating. The drinks were great ambiance was relaxing with the live music not too far away. Excellent food. They were very agreeable to modifying the Chicken Milanese for me to be made with Veal. My partner had veal saltimbocco which was very good. A little more pounding of the veal would have made it more tender but still it was excellent. Service was good, but they obviously favored regulars. This is my go-to Italian place in Califon. They treat you with respect and their food is excellent. The only thing that I can say is that I believe it's a little pricey, but I guess you could say that about almost all restaurants. The price doesn't bother me all that much though because I live right down the street and I always get my food to go. Without a doubt the best place to eat in Califon. Their Pizza is excellent as well, but it's a very small personal pie. I wish they would make a large pie because the pizza in this town is awful. read more

First time there... Our waiter took our order three minutes later we decided to order an appetizer... We were told we could not once the wheels were in motion we could not order anything else... the main course came out... Food was pretty good... We never saw our waiter after he took a order... No one ever came back to ask if we needed a refill of our water, or or wine... I eventually had to get up and ask somebody to get our check... Overall food was good but Service was poor. read more

The owner, Jimmy, was on hand for our first dining experience here. He did a wonderful job of leading us to the best dishes on the menu. We started with calamari with long peppers and a fra diavolo sauce and Jimmy's recommended chianti. Then we had a delicious greens salad. Nick had a delicious ribeye steak. Jimmy steered me towards a mix of ravioli - filet mignon and a spinach and Gorgonzola ravioli - two different sauces and they were awesome! I preferred the spinach one. We finished with one slice of cheesecake and 2 decaffeinated cappuccinos. The wait staff is attentive at just the right amount. When the four of walked in, we were greeted with a big smile! We saw that the lively bar was full, so opted for the dining room. Got a lovely corner table, with a view if all the Christmas decorations and within earshot if a pretty good guitar player. Live music is always nice to have! Jimmy, the owner came over and greeted us with a chuckle and a big smile. Our server, sorry I don't remember his name, was on top of everything, from getting out cocktails to us and taking good care of us! I had the Filet Mignon Ravioli... wow! Second to none! It was an amazing dish, they even changed the sauce to another one I liked with out a problem! And, on a Saturday night! The other dishes our party had were just as excellent! We've been patrons at the Brasserie for years now, and they never disappoint. Great food, great staff, a nice neighborhood restaurant.

The drinks were good, had the harvest mule, but drink fast as there is alot of ice which will water it down eventually. First, there are no sides to choose from, all entres had mashed potatoes and mixed vegatables, sort of what you get with prix fix menus. Had the peppercorn crusted chicken with brandy sauce that had no peppercorns at all but was drenched in the sauce, $20. My wife had chilean sea bass, I could smell the fishy smell before it was put down, so definately not fresh, same mashed potatoes and mixed vegs. The fish was about 2 inches by 1.5 inches by 5 inches and cost $32!!!!. The prices are high for what we got. We did not have dessert but looked at the menu. None of it was home made, these are the same desserts I could get at my local pizza joint. We always try to find new places and this place had decent reviews but not a place we would go to again. read more

Delighted we found this place and don't understand why it wasn't packed when we were there. The server was very attentive, made great suggestions. I had the meatloaf and my husband had the chicken with sausage. Both meals were good, but mine had to be the best meatloaf either of us every had at a restaurant. For dessert we had the lemoncello cake. It was amazing! We highly recommend it. Don't pass this place by just because it's in a strip mall. read more

I visited this well established facility recently for the first time.I was the only customer present at the time (mid afternoon) of my arrival.Charlotte (bartender) was very attentive and helpful.The entree (sea bass) was expertly prepared,albeit very expensive ($33.50 for one piece of fish?) My biggest disappointment, was their included salad,which consisted of only LETTUCE; nothing else,period...I would not return,because they are simply too expensive,especially for our locale.I have been a resident here, for many,many years. Was very pleasantly surprised, as I'm not used to dining in Califon and...quite frankly...wasn't really expecting much. But I enjoyed my dining experience here. Starting with fresh bread and a delicious green oil (basil?), I moved on to pasta fagioli. Different than what I'm normally used to, but delicious. My friend and I split a thin pizza--- very good. My main dish was Linguini Bolognese. Again, a unique but delicious taste. I couldn't resist the temptation of the tres leches cake. I only recently discovered this cake at a Colombian restaurant in Jersey City, and it was one of the most delicious desserts I've ever eaten. This version was not quite as memorable, but still very good, and definitely satisfying (although the next time I notice my expanding waistline, I'll definitely regret it). Went there twice and each time it was a little off the mark. It always starts off ok, with service being attentive, and then sort of falls apart at the end of the dinner. The food is fairly good, although one time I did find the fish and chips to be over cooked and very dry. The restaurant has a nice ambience and they really are trying, but they need to remember that when we are done with our meal, the service (like remembering to leave us our check or asking if we would like a little more coffee) is just as important. It's not inexpensive. For the price, I do feel the quality of the food should be a lot better. read more

Although it may be somewhat intimidating to go to a restaurant a-la Floridian style (e.g. located in a strip of stores) I have been coming here since I moved up to Tewksbury and I love it!. Actually, this place was so dedicated that they were open right after Hurricane Sandy which is how I ventured there and discovered Brasserie as there was no food left in town! This place is like it was plucked out of NYC and moved to the country which makes it that much better. The food is delicious and very consistent, beverage selection is deep with any spirit you can imagine and it offers a very well maintained, strategic tap offering of mainstream and craft brews. Needless to say you can have your pick with any wine you may desire also from basic table wine to extremely fine wines. If it isn't on the menu, their chef and kitchen staff are more than capable of making pretty much anything you could want. The menu is well varied, featuring fresh cuts of meat and fish which I can verify are sourced daily from the markets. They also offer a gastropub menu if you are just in there for a quick bite! This is truly a place where you can go and feel like you are home. The hospitality and friendliness is off the charts! Albeit the crowds can be small at times and the place somewhat quiet, that is an attribute of the area rather than the quality of the establishment. Oh, and Friday and Saturday (I believe) there is nice background/live music in the intimate bar area. Great job to all at Brasserie! read more
