Best churros I have every eaten. Small place but the definitely worth checking out.

This place has some good ass hot pressed sandwiches! The cuban & the ropa vieja are the best! The rope vieja is shredded flank slow cooked in tomato sauce with onions....they add shredded lettuce, tomatoes & mayo to it. I love the black beans & the yuca con mojo! Great Cubano sandwich; the best I've eaten in the New Orleans area. Definitely try the house-made mata guapos hot sauce.

Only Cuban restaurant in the New Orleans area, but it is the place I'd go even if there were others. The food tastes better than the Carreta in Miami. Though I wish they buttered the Cuban bread. They even have Materva. read more

Cuban sandwich was the best I have found so far in the city. The guy that took our order (I am guessing it was the owner) could have been friendlier and at least pretended he was happy we were there spending money, but will overlook the surly service as part of the charm b/c the sandwich was tasty. read more

Small, cute restaurant. Owner is nice, but grumpy. He claims to have THE best Cuban. I liked it, but it was definitely lacking on pork...if you like a very hammy cubano, then this is your place. I liked the flan. Will not be back for the cubano though... THE BEST is from Norma's Bakery in Kenner. I want to come back for the weekday specials. Will report back when I do! read more

Before I walked in, I knew it would be amazing. I was half way across the parking lot when a Cuban family walked out and as the door flung open, all the best smells of home smacked me in the face. The decor was equally encouraging. Alvarez Guedes propped up by the bar, a Benny More poster on the wall, a Pedro Pan sticker at the cash register and the sounds of my parents' living room piped in through the speakers. Lunch is casual, head to the counter, place your order and give your name. The silverware is in the hutch over by the wall, grab what you need. If you need more to drink head over to the counter and just ask. This is a place where you make yourself at home. I ordered la sopa de garbanzo and it was amazing -- big chunks of smoked ham, chorizo, some bacon and a little pellejito for good measure. Everything exactly as it should be. I could've ordered the bigger bowl and had that with Cuban bread and called it a day but on my first trip I wanted to cast a wider net and try more of their food. I ordered the lechon asado with congri and asked for tostones. The tostones were better than the ones I had the last time I visited Miami. The congri was perfection and the pork was excellent. I meant to take a box of leftovers home but nothing survived. Every grain of rice was gone. Even the plates were the same retro 1970s corningware plates my abuela used to serve her food. I look forward to going back again and again to try all of their dishes. Papa rellena, croquetas, empanadas, bistec encebollado and the medianoche are all on my hit list. Easily the best Cuban food in the greater New Orleans area and for my money, the best place to eat full stop in a city teeming with great food. If you're eating Cuban food anywhere else, you're doing it wrong. To respond to other folks' review of the choripan. Ordering chorizo is like showing up somewhere and ordering chiles ...red? green? hatch? habanero? all very different. Mexican chorizo is different from Argentine chorizo is different from Spanish chorizo. I think most folks are expecting grilled Argentine chorizo when they order the choripan but they're actually ordering a sandwich with cured Spanish chorizo (just as it says on the menu). Spanish chorizo is seasoned with smoked paprika, which gives it that vibrant red color, and is eaten sliced. It's also a cured sausage that mellows out when cooked, much like salami would. If it's not your thing, try something else. There's plenty of deliciousness on the menu to choose from and tons of classic Cuban flavors to try beyond the Cuban sandwich. read more

It's a family restaurant and and very friendly! Very thing on the menu is worth trying. Seasoned well and great blend of flavors.

The food is consistently good. My favorite is the cubano sandwich. Big enough to share or take home half for later! Service is OK - a little slow if you are trying to get in and out for lunch hour! Go - but don't be in a hurry! read more

Authentic Cuban food! Set back off of Kingman St, close to Veterans. Owner is always onsite and happily greeting guest. Food is always cooked to order and fresh. The shredded beef sandwich is as good as it gets! Don't forget the Churros with cinnamon sugar. You will not be disappointed! read more

Had dinner here tonight for the first time. Very authentic. Great food good prices. Our waitress Raquel was lovely and kept us in stitches! Can't wait to go back. The croquetas and empandillas were very tasty. I had the ropa vieja and it was delicious. I also tried the legion asado and the yuca frita, liked them both. Some how I ended up paying $13.34 for three orders of fries, which were $1.95 each and a one tamale that was $2.50. I feel as if they were definitely trying to over charge me. When they first rang me up, they told me my total was $16.69, until I pulled out a menu and added the order up myself in front of them. So then they stated that I had to pay for the to go box that my (by the way was horrible) tamale was in. But that was never figured in when my order was $16. It wasn't until I pointed out that I was being over charged, that they charged me or the to go box. read more

Worst service we have received in NOLA. The old lady working was making rude comments and was not nice in anyway. We had to walk out and never even ordered our food. Will never go back due to the horrible service. If you go, don't expect good service!!! read more

It was our first time to eat Cuban food. We had some tamales, a cubano, and the Ropa vieja. All were cooked well and seasoned fine. My wife ordered a mojito which she said was very delicious. It was prepared by an older woman who was very delighful and made our experience that much more enjoyable. We want to visit again soon to try their other dishes. read more

The food here is absolutely amazing. I go every chance I get when I visit the New Orleans area. My favorites are the Cubano and Medianoche sandwiches but everything on the menu is great.
