    Lunch buffet

Good food. We really like the lunch buffet. Friendly staff. Free parking lot. Good for groups and families.

    Lassi

Service here was 10/10! Everyone was very kind and really friendly. The Lassi was a perfect sweet and tart. It reminded me of a Vietnamese yogurt treat that I really enjoyed when I was younger. The meal we got was a little pricey and when they bring it out it doesn't look like much but it ended up being the perfect amount for me and my partner since I personally don't like leftovers and usually cannot finish the entire meal. He ended up finishing his meal and part of mine. In terms of flavor, I thought it was really good! The flavor was just right. The only thing I wish we had more of was spiciness. I got a middle of the road spice level and my boyfriend got the spiciest but it didn't really feel that spicy. The place was nicely decorated and well lit and there were plenty of tables and spaces for large groups of people. I would recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area! Ask for some extra spice if you like spicy!

Takeout for lunch: boneless chicken tikka masala (comes with basmati rice) $21, and a side of daal soup $8. I ordered to tikka masala with a 4/6 spice level and was disappointed when there was no spice at all. The sauce is creamy and tasty, but was very mild in spice. The chicken was bland as well. The basmati rice portion was generous, which I loved. But the rice itself was bland and tasted of the water it was cooked in. The daal soup is small for $8, but had plenty of lentils. The downside is that the soup was also bland and lacked and spice, salt, aromatics, etc. Just tasted like a basic tomato base so I added fresh lemon juice and salt myself. This is disappointing because daal soup is my favorite dish! Overall, the takeout service was quick. The staff was very friendly! But the food was just okay. Had to give it a try since it's the closest Indian food in the Wallingford area.

was in the area looking for a quick bite to eat, and stumbled upon chutney's. the restaurant had a good atmosphere, seemed clean as well. customer service was great, all the waiters were super nice and welcoming. we went when it wasn't too busy but i was still pleasantly surprised by how fast our food came out, about 10 minutes. every dish was really yummy, and i didn't think they were big portions, however looks can be deceiving. a little bit pricey compared to other places ive been, but still very good. can't say much about the buffet since we had a la carte but id love to come back and see how it is.

AMAZING service and food ‍ we came a little late, when dining was closed, but takeout was still available and I cannot say enough good things about how friendly and generous the Chutneys staff was. They gave us water, paper plates so we could still eat our takeout in the courtyard, and were so nice. We got butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, rice, and garlic naan. Everything was piping hot and mind blowing it was so good. The restaurant is so cute too. I'd recommend Chutneys to anyone looking for a great restaurant experience with decadent and delightful Indian food!

Lunch Buffet, butter chicken, vegetable samosa, tandoori chicken, lentils, vegetarian tikka masala

The service was a little lack luster we but it was pretty empty with only one person working the front of the restaurant. Me and my friend did the lunch buffet which was about $21 each before tip which is a pretty fair price. The chicken in the butter chicken fell right off the bone and was delicious and creamy. My friend was a vegetarian and they had enough vegetarian options in the buffet for her. Drinks are not included with the buffet btw so much I think could be changed. Besides the hot food bar they also had a dessert bar with amazing yummy mango mouse, rice pudding, and fruit.

The currys were piping hot and delicious. I've struggled to find great butter masala in Seattle, and taste of India's hit the mark! Not pictured, but their naans are huge. My husband and I each ordered naan, and the amount of rice, curry, and naan was the perfect amount for a full serving of leftovers. We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary samosa appetizers and chocolate torte dessert. Ultimately this place is fantastic and we look forward to coming back- would love to come on a summer evening and sit outside on their patio.

so, this place is pretty clearly, and almost objectively so, made exclusively for westerners…read more what i mean by that is that this place serves Indian food that will not attempt to challenge western palettes in any way - rather its goal is to have people walking out with a mildly positive attitude towards the food. if someone were to ask them how the food was, they will say that it's fine and say that indian food is an underrated cuisine. the first indication of this that caught my eye was on the menu, where it was listed that "all spice levels are American standard". The fact that this is on the menu at an *Indian restaurant* is pretty ridiculous, in my opinion. I'll get to the spice levels later The second indication was when the waiter brought out our naan, and said "Here's your naan bread". I almost laughed out loud at this point. Naan bread? Thank god we didn't order chai or he would've said "Here's your chai tea". when we actually got our food, it was as disappointing as I expected Despite the fact that I ordered the 'Hot' spice level (the second highest), this had utterly no spice at all. I know that I have a high spice tolerance, but you know it's not good when other people at my table who have a low tolerance cannot taste any spice whatsoever. I've had hotter dishes ordering the 'Hot' level at American restaurants! In addition to there not being any spice, there was pretty much no flavor at all to the curries. There was just no point to the gravy on both the Jaipuri "Masala" and the Vegetable Kofta, as it both cases it was quite bland and essentially tasted like nothing. The paneer and the kofta were ok - but nothing more than average. Again, the lack of any kind of flavor is just crazy. Our table also got the Biryani, which had decent vegetables but also suffered from a lack of flavor The roti and garlic naan that we got were really hard and difficult to break apart. not very good at all If you're Indian - do not come here - you'll get far better Indian food either a) at home or b) at another place If you're not Indian - I would highly recommend trying another place to actually get a taste of what Indian food is really like. This watered-down version simply isn't it. I would recommend Saffron Grill in Northgate for an example of Indian food done correctly on the positive side, one thing i appreciated about this menu is the customization available for different curries this is especially helpful when it relates to giving options to vegetarians, as it doesn't restrict people who are vegetarian to specific curry options having paneer, vegetables, and tofu options available for each curry is pretty good i also thought the spinach naan was pretty good. out of all the bread we ordered, it was the only naan that managed to be soft, and easy to pull apart the spinach inside tasted pretty good as well the complimentary samosas (although clearly reheated from frozen) and sweet at the end was a decent touch the portion sizes were also decent - the amount of rice that came with the curry was pretty significant

I ordered it mild and it was just perfect. There was plenty of chicken in the sauce, and I finished it all with just a hint of a feeling like I ate too much. The garlic Naan was also some of the best I've ever had. It has wonderful flavor, and yet was so light it almost melts in the mouth. The pricing is more than reasonable for what you get. Garlic Naan and Butter Chicken with a coke ran me about $36 bucks. The inside was very clean, quiet and inviting. I suspect they may do a lot of take out business though as it was almost deserted during the lunch hour. Speaking of lunch, my only wish list here would be that they had a lunch menu available. Eating this much food in the middle of the day makes it easier to feel like taking a nap than to go back to work.

It was a definite sign to stop in when I ended up with a free parking spot right out front from the entrance (2/25/26). It sure was busy coming up on 11pm. Business hours vary. During this visit, closing time was midnight, sometimes it can be 2am or longer. All depends on kitchen and front counter staffing and there can be a cutoff for onsite dining and just takeout is available. Buzzer can be used by the counter to request service to place your order. Hand held buzzers are used and corresponding order numbers are also called out when orders are ready. The dining room was mostly full and several other folks were awaiting takeout and delivery orders. There's a variety of seating 2 and 4 tops and tables can be easily pushed together to accomodate for groups. There's counter seating facing The Ave, as well as, reservable study & meeting rooms off to the side. Some tables could use a wipe down and the carpets could use a roomba, but it's a totally chill, no frills establishment. Overhead music was loud Indian rap. The Homie ordered a Masala chai, Jaipur Masala fries, and Butter Chicken with basmati. He's dined here while on campus several times and this is one of his go to combos. I ordered also a Masala chai and bone-in Goat Biryani. First visit for me and it was a rare culinary epiphany. The bone-in Goat Biryani was generous, flavorful, and had lots of succulent meat. It was not gamey either. It was delicious to suck out the marrow from one piece. This was outstanding and beat out the other two times I've had this at a shuttered spot on Broadway on Capitol Hill and another spot in Milwaukee. I kept talking about this entree driving home and I'm thinking about it again as I type out this post two days later. The unsweetened chais were evidently molten and the fries took a tumble. But replacement plain fries were provided at the end as takeout. Too bad a tray was not provided or available for use to carry the multi part order to our four top, just saying.
