OMG, these were some of the best sandwiches we've had. I had the mean sandwich and my partner had the steak tartare. Their homemade mustard on the mean made the sandwich. The sandwiches are substantial on their own but the bag of fried potatoes make this a filling meal. First time here and we'll definitely be back. Thanks!

There's actually a hidden backyard seating area that's dog friendly. Owner was super friendly and went around asking about everyone's experiences. The Mean: Corned beef was not the most tender (I'm still partial to Dingfelder's), but it's well seasoned. Mint with mustard is a combination I never would have guessed would work, but the sharpness complemented each other nicely. Red cabbage had a nice tang and the soft bun for the contrast of texture. The Steak Tartare Club: Steak tartare surprisingly mild, almost feels more like a BLT with a background of slight beefy squishy texture (but in a good way!). The yuzu kosho was not too spicy and the rye bread toasted to a crisp added a good bit of crunch and almost nutty flavor. Will be back for the Hama Hama Oyster Po'Boy.

A 10 top joint, this place is small, however there is a patio outside that also shares with another restaurant so that during the summer addition seating is available. We walked up to the counter and were pleasantly greeted by a young lady who took our order. My father ordered a bacon cheeseburger and I ordered the pastrami burger which was a cheeseburger with pastrami also on it. We also ordered onion rings and the Greek fries to share. We both had chocolate shakes. The food came out quickly, probably 10 mins or so. The shakes are hand done and mixed to order. DELICIOUS! Both of our burgers were juicy and delicious. All burgers have lettuce, onion, pickle and tomato. Several versions of burgers, sandwiches and salads available. The rings were to me perfect, well cooked and great breading. The Greek fries were also delicious, however, HEAVY GARLIC. Just be aware that your Vampire boyfriend will be repelled for hours!! I look forward to trying some of their other options the next time.

The food is authentic and although a bit on the higher priced side, it's a good place to eat and enjoy great margaritas. It was too bad the watery salsa was hard to dip or scoop onto the chips. For drinks, the margarita leaned much more on the sweet side and couldn't taste the tequila at all, which might be a plus for some, but not exactly what I was hoping for. The michelada, on the other hand, was good, but I added more spicy sauce to it for my own preference. As for entrees, the wire steak was delicious. It was flavorful and came with melted cheese on top and a side of tortillas. The beef was marinated in soy sauce, and the seasoning was spot on. The beef fajitas came in much bigger cuts of meat than the wire steak dish, and to me, they didn't have as much flavor so I added salt to it. Sides were rice, beans, a little shredded lettuce, and a bit of guac, which were overall less generous than other spots I've been to. Service was friendly and efficient, but we were seated next to a big family who was celebrating something over FaceTime with music blasting from their phone the entire time. It seemed like the staff was okay with it, and it made it hard to enjoy the meal.

When I moved to Magnolia in the late 90s, Nikos became a favorite for me and any visiting family members--especially my mom. It became a tradition to go by anytime she was in town. She loved the food and visiting with the owners. My mom is gone now, so a visit to Nikos now means not only delicious Greek food but also some very sweet memories.

Go with Shawarma Buzz. They put out a better product. That's the whole story. Nikos Gyros is a clean, beautifully Greek-themed spot which also sells various Greek canned and jarred items, which is cool, but the chicken gyro and Greek fries I had were rather unremarkable. The fries would have benefited from having something like tzatziki on them, and the chicken gyro was a bit dry (and also a little light on the tzatziki), though it was still decent. Service was friendly and the place was charming, but with Shawarma Buzz right there, it's kinda had to justify eating here. There's nothing bad about the food, but nothing really fantastic either. Sorry to be the contrarian.
