    Lunch buffet

Good food. We really like the lunch buffet. Friendly staff. Free parking lot. Good for groups and families.

    Lassi

Service here was 10/10! Everyone was very kind and really friendly. The Lassi was a perfect sweet and tart. It reminded me of a Vietnamese yogurt treat that I really enjoyed when I was younger. The meal we got was a little pricey and when they bring it out it doesn't look like much but it ended up being the perfect amount for me and my partner since I personally don't like leftovers and usually cannot finish the entire meal. He ended up finishing his meal and part of mine. In terms of flavor, I thought it was really good! The flavor was just right. The only thing I wish we had more of was spiciness. I got a middle of the road spice level and my boyfriend got the spiciest but it didn't really feel that spicy. The place was nicely decorated and well lit and there were plenty of tables and spaces for large groups of people. I would recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area! Ask for some extra spice if you like spicy!

Takeout for lunch: boneless chicken tikka masala (comes with basmati rice) $21, and a side of daal soup $8. I ordered to tikka masala with a 4/6 spice level and was disappointed when there was no spice at all. The sauce is creamy and tasty, but was very mild in spice. The chicken was bland as well. The basmati rice portion was generous, which I loved. But the rice itself was bland and tasted of the water it was cooked in. The daal soup is small for $8, but had plenty of lentils. The downside is that the soup was also bland and lacked and spice, salt, aromatics, etc. Just tasted like a basic tomato base so I added fresh lemon juice and salt myself. This is disappointing because daal soup is my favorite dish! Overall, the takeout service was quick. The staff was very friendly! But the food was just okay. Had to give it a try since it's the closest Indian food in the Wallingford area.

was in the area looking for a quick bite to eat, and stumbled upon chutney's. the restaurant had a good atmosphere, seemed clean as well. customer service was great, all the waiters were super nice and welcoming. we went when it wasn't too busy but i was still pleasantly surprised by how fast our food came out, about 10 minutes. every dish was really yummy, and i didn't think they were big portions, however looks can be deceiving. a little bit pricey compared to other places ive been, but still very good. can't say much about the buffet since we had a la carte but id love to come back and see how it is.

AMAZING service and food ‍ we came a little late, when dining was closed, but takeout was still available and I cannot say enough good things about how friendly and generous the Chutneys staff was. They gave us water, paper plates so we could still eat our takeout in the courtyard, and were so nice. We got butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, rice, and garlic naan. Everything was piping hot and mind blowing it was so good. The restaurant is so cute too. I'd recommend Chutneys to anyone looking for a great restaurant experience with decadent and delightful Indian food!

Delicious Indian cuisines but lack spice 4/5 Service is friendly 5/5 Feels like a museum 5/5

Lunch Buffet, butter chicken, vegetable samosa, tandoori chicken, lentils, vegetarian tikka masala

The service was a little lack luster we but it was pretty empty with only one person working the front of the restaurant. Me and my friend did the lunch buffet which was about $21 each before tip which is a pretty fair price. The chicken in the butter chicken fell right off the bone and was delicious and creamy. My friend was a vegetarian and they had enough vegetarian options in the buffet for her. Drinks are not included with the buffet btw so much I think could be changed. Besides the hot food bar they also had a dessert bar with amazing yummy mango mouse, rice pudding, and fruit.

I'm not sure what happened on my last visit as the curries were on the colder side. When you arrive parking can be a bit difficult, there is a small parking lot out front, if that's full you'll need to find street park. The restaurant itself feels warm, casual, and bustling. Queen you walk in you have the option to sit on the backyard patio or in the dining room. We opted to sit in the dining room as it just felt more intimate and the vibe we were wanting for dinner. For our appetizer, we started with the Samosas (Two crispy pastries filled with your choice of freshly mixed vegetables or delicately spiced lean ground beef) which were excellent. Next we ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken. The naan and samosas showed up piping hot but the chicken tikka masala & butter chicken were cold. I probably should have said something as I was disappointed but was too hungry to care at that moment. If I'm in the Seattle area I may stop by Taste of India again.

Honestly this place is great for a small snack anyway. We got the bhel puri (not pictured) and a lamb kebab roll. It was my first time ever having bhel puri and I liked it! I enjoyed nibbling on the rice puffs but found that I needed a protein or else I would get flavor fatigue. We ended up placing a second order for the lamb kebab roll, which was AMAZING. Lamb is already my favorite protein so I knew I was going to like it, but I didn't expect it to be so good. It was very well seasoned and even a little juicy. I wouldn't say I have a small appetite, but I found this one roll to be a perfect portion for lunch. Service: (5/5) It's a very casual spot so you order at the counter and bus everything yourself. It's definitely in a very convenient location for students since it's right in the middle of the UW area and easy to walk to. I ordered the Aloo Tikki Burger and Gol Gappe (8). The prices are pretty reasonable for Seattle, especially for students looking for a quick snack or light meal. The food came out fairly quickly, which was nice since the place seemed busy. The Aloo Tikki Burger was decent -- it had that classic Indian street-food style flavor, but nothing that really stood out. It was okay overall, just a bit average. The Gol Gappe were the bigger disappointment for me. The pani (water) was very salty, which kind of overpowered the rest of the flavors and made it hard to enjoy. Overall, it's a convenient spot for UW students if you're craving Indian street food and want something quick and affordable. The flavors were just okay, and I wish the gol gappe pani had been better balanced. Not bad, but there's definitely room for improvement.
