Pretty decent spot for classic Indian food. They seem to specialize in dosa and other South Indian foods. But, I decided to try out their dal fry (which was a lentil curry), roti, and rava kesari (my first time trying it). The food was alright, but not the best. It seemed to be that most of the portions were substantially smaller here in comparison to other places (like Red Chilly's, for example). The dal fry was in flavor, pretty good. Nice consistency and flavorful. It was somewhat too spicy for me (I ordered low spice but they had a ton of chilies in there). The portion of the curry itself was decent but the rice portion was quite tiny. The roti was a major letdown. It seemed like it wasn't fully baked through and had a dusty type of topping on it. Virtually no flavor. Dry on the outside. Not very good at all. The best dish I had from here was the dessert, the rava kesari. It had a fair amount of nuts like cashews and raisins inside what I believe to be a firm semolina pudding. It was very good, nice level of sweetness, and the best portion out of all the items. All in all, decent place. Portions smaller than in other Indian places. Some of the food is a bit too spicy. If you do come here, try some of the desserts (many places don't serve these desserts in Pittsburgh so it's nice to give them a try).

Very flavorful and spicy! Great for vegetarian and vegans! I love the dal makhani extra hot!! The naan is also very good. Nice portion size. Very hot and fresh for lunch or dinner. Would love to try dine-in sometime, but takeout is always ready when I order it.

I had no clue about this place. They definitely need to up their marketing! It was quite a drive for us from Pittsburgh but totally worth it. Parking was easily available as well! There is an Indian store nearby! It's a pure vegetarian restaurant. A mix of South Indian and indo-chinese. 10/10 for the food. We ordered chilly paneer for appetizers, Chettinad and Paratha, chilly noodles, a plate of idli vada and ghee podi dosa! Variety of chutneys came with dosa was good, specially the tomato chutney was very fresh and yummy. We ordered a lot but everything was perfect! It was definitely good made with love! 10/10 for cleanliness! 10/10 for hospitality. The servers were very attentive and friendly. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh! Definitely recommend!

Tried this place after our local friends insisted it was one of the best Indian tiffin places. The place was packed and busy on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered masala dosas, onion Rava dosa, south Indian tiffin platter (i think that is what it is called) As a New Jersian, I think this is the best Mysore masala ghee roast dosa I ever had. The red chutney was to die for the coconut chutney was amazingly packed with simple fresh flavors. The south Indian tiffin platter had dosa, idli, vada, and another choice of tiffin that would change as per the chef - we had Pongal that day. This also comes with a choice of coffee or tea. Reasonable prices, great food, courteous staff, and clean place. I would definitely try this place again. Knocking off a star because I know like a lot of Indian places, this could be a hit or a miss. So when I go back, I will update my review.

Food tasted good if you can go by the "thoda adjust karlo" attitude, but it definitely needs to be better managed. The chaat thela is very inviting as soon as you enter, I ordered a bhel instantly, and even though I mentioned I needed it spicy a whole lot of meetha was poured into it and it was all wet and soggy, also there was a very very stron garlic taste in BHEL!!!! I don't know which ingredient it came from, but it was really strong ! Do not buy bhel there is my recommendation. We then got pani puri and that was good, we repeatedly ordered that thrice. The rest of the main course was baby corn manchurian, punugulu, plain dosa, rava masala dosa, palak paneer, Guntur idli. Guntur Idli - while the rest of the group liked it, I did not. It was way too masala'd and the idlis did not taste fresh. They serve water in bottles and that is nice. ok team - u r new I understand, so u may not have many items on the menu , fine, then print out and hand over a menu of items u do have. 6 out of 10 items they did not have. There was no avocado sandwich, no rasmali, no kulfi or carrot halwa, no family dosa - we were in a big group and so excited to see the family dosa on the menu and one of the first items we decided as a group, but , were left disappointed. Anyway...there hardly seemed to be any people and we ended up doing self service of the chaat, of the plates, tissues, water etc. The staff was courteous when they were around, but mostly they were not - this maybe again because its new and they are understaffed. What I did love was their mango lassi and the jamoon. The 3 stars is because it is very new and has scope to work better.

Delicious Indian food. We tried quite a few things and everything was excellent. Gobi manchurian, - crispy and not drowning in sauce, samosa chat - served hot with crispy samosas , masala dosa - huge, with plenty of chutneys and sambhar and chola bhathura - huge fluffy bhathura and delicious chola. This is going to be one of our go tos for vegetarian Indian food! Loved it.

There was an appetizer that I had never heard of or tried before, so I wanted to try it (similar to a pani puri). I was ordering for takeout, but they said if I wanted this I really should eat it in house immediately because the shell would get soggy and not be as good. I appreciate the tip because I would not have otherwise known that. And I am so glad I ordered it because it was delicious! The combination of the sauces with the shell and contents was a flavor blast. Definitely something I will order again. For the bowl, I did a build your own. They also have pre-designed bowls that might help if you are feeling overwhelmed with the choices. I made mine with white rice, paneer tikka, tiki masala sauce and several of the toppings. The portions were generous and they answered my questions about ingredients and let me sample sauces while I was making my decisions. When I thought about adding something that sounded good, they advised me against it saying it wouldn't work together with what I had already put in (but weren't pushy about it). I appreciated the feedback. The bowl was delicious and filling. I enjoyed every single bite and it was the kind of meal where I was actually sad when it was gone because I enjoyed it that much. I'm not in the Robinson area that often, but I would definitely come back any time I'm around.

We ordered Sweet Corn Soup, which was rich, sweet, and savory. Bits of chicken really deepened the flavor. The Lentil Soup was more delicate, vegetarian (I think) and lighter bodied. I liked both, but LOVED the Sweet Corn Soup. The Paneer Kulcha was a delicious flat bread with a mild cheese center. I'd been to many Indian restaurants and don't recall ever seeing it before. So glad we tried it. Our entrees were the Lamb Rogan Josh and Lamb Chettinadu. Both were thick, saucy, and delicious served with Basmati Rice. My husband ordered the former and had it made extra spicy. We enjoyed both. Lastly, I had the Salt Lassi, one of my favorite yogurt drinks. My husband had South Indian Buttermilk on a dare (mine) and we loved both. The South Indian Buttermilk had an interesting spiced flavor and mint. The milk beverages always seem to make my tummy happy, especially when I indulge in spicy foods. I would encourage you to go if you like Indian foods. Many regional cuisines are represented. We also got the irani chai at the suggestion of the server. He was helpful and gave us suggestions about spice level etc. Nice pace of service. Our chai was first, then appetizers, with plenty of time to enjoy them. Then entrees and naan. We did not feel rushed. The staff was super grateful for our business. The food was 5 stars! So fresh, flavorful. Tender meat for both the goat and chicken. We will definitely come back to try more things! They had Bollywood videos playing on the TVs which we loved! this is a long overdue review for my favorite indian restaurant in the city (and possibly my…read morefavorite restaurant of all). i eat here almost every week, but keep forgetting to leave a rating. time to fix that :) bombay to burgh is an amazing restaurant. it's always delicious, with food that tastes fresh and perfectly balanced. as a fan of indian food, i love how the menu isn't stuck on the classic dishes that you find in every indian restaurant in the US. sure, you'll find butter chicken, tikka masala, palak paneer, naan, and biryani, and they are all very delicious! but there are also dishes like bagara eggplants (described by the menu as "spice stuffed baby eggplants in a roasted peanut, sesame, poppy seeds and coriander gravy, finished with tamarind and coconut") and chicken xacuti (described as "a classic, aromatic chicken curry from the coastal region of Goa, India, known for its complex blend of freshly roasted spices, toasted coconut, and tamarind for a tangy balance"). i ordered both of these tonight and can vouch that they are extremely tasty and worthy of your attention. personally, my only struggle here is that literally every item on the menu looks delicious, and i hate having to choose! which brings me to my favorite part of this restaurant: sunday buffet. now, the food is wonderful every day of the week. i just ordered some tonight myself, so i definitely recommend it. that said, my absolute favorite time to come is for the buffet on sunday. i think buffets get a bad reputation for being all about quantity over quality and for having an unpleasant atmosphere (the passive aggressive "don't waste food" signs that most have don't help, either). sadly, these complaints are true of most buffets. bombay to burgh is a wonderful contrast and, in my opinion, does buffets the way they ought to be. the atmosphere is pleasant (no signs!) and you're likely to see many regular customers. there's a good chance you'll even be greeted by the very owner, G, and get to speak with him a bit! the staff is all very friendly and helpful, always doing their best to make sure you enjoy your visit. they are always happy to help if food needs to be refilled at the buffet or if you want to order anything. finally, and most importantly of all, the food is amazing! unlike most buffets, bombay to burgh only puts out a limited number of offerings: 2 appetizers, 2 meat entrees, 2 vegetarian entrees, 1 bread, 1 rice, 1 dessert, and 1 beverage. i think this is the perfect number to ensure there's both variety and quality. plus, you can actually try a little bit of everything, which usually isn't possible at giant buffets. my favorite part is that every week brings new food, which is now usually themed around a certain region of india. you know they'll always have reliable butter chicken and garlic naan to make you happy, but the rest of the buffet might be dishes you've never eaten before. it's a perfect way to explore different flavors and new food, without worrying you'll waste your money. eating out is a bit pricey anywhere these days, but i personally think that the buffet is still very affordable. have you seen the price of appetizers recently? just the fact that you can choose from two of those with your meal makes it a good deal to me! i feel very fortunate that i get the chance to eat here regularly. while i've loved indian food for over 20 years at this point, bombay to burgh has taken my appreciation to a whole new level and has me researching more food to cook myself. it's a wonderful place to eat!
