Stopped in on Thursday for lunch with my husband. We ordered more than we thought we did but gosh it was all so good. We especially loved the samosa chaat and the dosa plate. Lots of flavor in all of the dishes. The vegetable curry was equally as good but we decided to save most of it to bring home. Atmosphere was quiet since we were the only ones in there. We used to go every Saturday for buffet but now staff is careless ,food quality has deteriorated and generally some food is cold We have drawn their attention to it but it seems staff does not really care . Pretty decent spot for classic Indian food. They seem to specialize in dosa and other South Indian foods. But, I decided to try out their dal fry (which was a lentil curry), roti, and rava kesari (my first time trying it). The food was alright, but not the best. It seemed to be that most of the portions were substantially smaller here in comparison to other places (like Red Chilly's, for example). The dal fry was in flavor, pretty good. Nice consistency and flavorful. It was somewhat too spicy for me (I ordered low spice but they had a ton of chilies in there). The portion of the curry itself was decent but the rice portion was quite tiny. The roti was a major letdown. It seemed like it wasn't fully baked through and had a dusty type of topping on it. Virtually no flavor. Dry on the outside. Not very good at all. The best dish I had from here was the dessert, the rava kesari. It had a fair amount of nuts like cashews and raisins inside what I believe to be a firm semolina pudding. It was very good, nice level of sweetness, and the best portion out of all the items. All in all, decent place. Portions smaller than in other Indian places. Some of the food is a bit too spicy. If you do come here, try some of the desserts (many places don't serve these desserts in Pittsburgh so it's nice to give them a try). read more

I had no clue about this place. They definitely need to up their marketing! It was quite a drive for us from Pittsburgh but totally worth it. Parking was easily available as well! There is an Indian store nearby! It's a pure vegetarian restaurant. A mix of South Indian and indo-chinese. 10/10 for the food. We ordered chilly paneer for appetizers, Chettinad and Paratha, chilly noodles, a plate of idli vada and ghee podi dosa! Variety of chutneys came with dosa was good, specially the tomato chutney was very fresh and yummy. We ordered a lot but everything was perfect! It was definitely good made with love! 10/10 for cleanliness! 10/10 for hospitality. The servers were very attentive and friendly. This is my new favorite Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh! Came here for a quick lunch and had a good time! Pretty conveniently located, and good ambience in the restaurant. We came for the lunch buffet and dosa station - the dosas were so good, freshly made and perfect portions! Tried this place after our local friends insisted it was one of the best Indian tiffin places. The place was packed and busy on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered masala dosas, onion Rava dosa, south Indian tiffin platter (i think that is what it is called) As a New Jersian, I think this is the best Mysore masala ghee roast dosa I ever had. The red chutney was to die for the coconut chutney was amazingly packed with simple fresh flavors. The south Indian tiffin platter had dosa, idli, vada, and another choice of tiffin that would change as per the chef - we had Pongal that day. This also comes with a choice of coffee or tea. Reasonable prices, great food, courteous staff, and clean place. I would definitely try this place again. Knocking off a star because I know like a lot of Indian places, this could be a hit or a miss. So when I go back, I will update my review. read more

We're visiting from St Louis and wanted to get a bite to eat. We saw that they were vegetarian and they had a lot of customers so decided to give it a try. The waiter was very helpful and recommended some dishes he thought we might like. We opted for the North Indian combo plate, the South Indian combo plate and the Gutti Vankaya. Food tasted good if you can go by the "thoda adjust karlo" attitude, but it definitely needs to be better managed. The chaat thela is very inviting as soon as you enter, I ordered a bhel instantly, and even though I mentioned I needed it spicy a whole lot of meetha was poured into it and it was all wet and soggy, also there was a very very stron garlic taste in BHEL!!!! I don't know which ingredient it came from, but it was really strong ! Do not buy bhel there is my recommendation. We then got pani puri and that was good, we repeatedly ordered that thrice. The rest of the main course was baby corn manchurian, punugulu, plain dosa, rava masala dosa, palak paneer, Guntur idli. Guntur Idli - while the rest of the group liked it, I did not. It was way too masala'd and the idlis did not taste fresh.They serve water in bottles and that is nice. ok team - u r new I understand, so u may not have many items on the menu , fine, then print out and hand over a menu of items u do have. 6 out of 10 items they did not have.There was no avocado sandwich, no rasmali, no kulfi or carrot halwa, no family dosa - we were in a big group and so excited to see the family dosa on the menu and one of the first items we decided as a group, but , were left disappointed. Anyway...there hardly seemed to be any people and we ended up doing self service of the chaat, of the plates, tissues, water etc. The staff was courteous when they were around, but mostly they were not - this maybe again because its new and they are understaffed. Gobi manchurian, - crispy and not drowning in sauce, samosa chat - served hot with crispy samosas , masala dosa - huge, with plenty of chutneys and sambhar and chola bhathura - huge fluffy bhathura and delicious chola. Great place that serves close to an authentic South Indian dishes. We love the food at chutneys. It takes us back home for sure. It's our go to spot for Indian when we are in Pittsburgh. Some of my favorite dishes here are - Mysore masala dosa, Kothu idly, Baby Corn Manchurian, Gobi Manchurian, Samosa Chat. Would definitely recommend to try the MYSORE MASALA DOSA. But, I felt that the service could be better as there are delays in getting food and being served. If the place can work on those aspects, I feel this could become a top Indian restaurant at Pittsburgh. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

We stumbled upon this GEM of an Indian restaurant today--what a delightful surprise! These curries are so rich and flavorful, some of the best tasting curry I have ever had. We had the paneer tikka and the malai kofta--both of which were excellent. Dosa was great too. The atmosphere and service are acceptable--but the food here is the star of the show. Ate here in the evening after Black Friday shopping. I thought as well the place was a bit understaffed. We weren't in any rush, but it could've been quicker. As for the food, we ordered paneer makhani, a few dosas, and idli mixed with sambar. The idli was fairly tasty. I thought the paneer makhani was far too buttery. Garlic naan was tasty. As for the dosas, the coconut chutney had some "crunchy" pieces of daal left in it, that my teeth didn't particularly appreciate. The best word to describe this place is 'Mismanaged'. It started right from putting my name in for the table queue. They supposedly put my name in and after waiting for 20 min when I checked with them, they asked for my name again and then wrote it down. Eventually after a total wait of 40 min, we got a table. It took them another 35 min to start serving us Dosa (part of unlimited Dosa plan). They could serve us just 1 Dosa before crashing into the wall of botched up management. The staff was so overwhelmed with the packed restaurant that they were not even able to listen to customers complaining. Witnessed multiple guests leaving the restaurant mid-meal(or I would say end of the meal since they didn't get served enough). read more

We ate here on a Saturday night, and they were out of all naan and aloo paratha, which was surprising for what's likely one of their busiest times. We had samosas, vegetable dum biryani, chana bhatura, and paneer makhni. The samosas were good (3 in an order), but it would've been nice if they came with more chutney. The biryani tasted amazing, and the portion size was quite large, but the masala and raita that came with it were largely tasteless. The chana bhatura was good as well, and the bhatura was huge! The paneer makhni was mediocre at best. The paneer was overcooked, and the curry wasn't very flavorful. The portion of rice that came with the paneer makhni was laughable. Three people could've easily eaten the curry, but the rice wasn't even enough for 1.5 people. They offered neither dessert nor chai when we finished our meal. read more

I thought that the poor customer service and general lack of coordination to run a restaurant was due to the fact that they were new based on some of the early reviews. So we waited to go and it looks like it's still an issue so not sure how much can be blamed on being new. Customer service is horrible and the food we ordered arrived at different times and not intentionally. So one person got their main dish, then 10 min later another person got their order than 10 min after that the last order came to our table. It was ridiculous! Part of the enjoyment of dining out is that everyone can enjoy their different dishes at the same time. There was no explanation offered and we asked about ordering Chaat and went through a handful of items to be told they're not available so I asked when do you serve Chaat and the waitress said Wed, Friday and Saturday. We were there on Saturday night. But she didn't think this was odd that it was Sat and not Chaat was available so I specifically had to say today is Saturday. And then she said the person who makes the Chaat only come in at 6 pm, we left the restaurant at 7 and no Chaat person ever arrived. I should also mention that the restaurant was nearly empty, 1-2 other tables were there during the duration of our dinner so I can't blame crowds. But here's the thing the food was decent when it finally arrived. But the horrible service and odd wait times completely overshadowed the taste of the food. There are other indian restaurants that serve just as good food with much better service that I'd rather go to. I wouldn't voluntarily go back to this place. read more

If zero we an option I would choose it. I've been going to this restaurant for over a year and it USED TO BE my favorite South Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh. I've spent much time in India since 2003 and I found the food here to be most authentic. However, after my experience today, I will never visit nor recommend this establishment again. I ordered samosa chat to go, and when I arrived home 40 minutes later, I saw that it had all been placed in a single container and was a solid wet sponge of muck. This is not at all correct as chat is a textural experience of wet and dry elements that are mixed together immediately before eating, not premixed and placed in a sealed container. The other dishes ordered, veg kothu parotta and sambar idly, were not executed per our specifications and were subpar as well. When I called the restaurant to share my experience and offer constructive feedback that they may want to consider packaging the wet and dry ingredients separately for to go orders, the OWNER was EXTREMELY BELLIGERENT towards me -- he actually called me "a fucking bitch." Differences of opinion on taste and a learning curve during this pandemic are to be expected, but speaking to a customer in this way with such complete disrespect is not something I will tolerate on any level. Especially as a woman I will not tolerate toxic male aggression. To the Owner -- How would you feel if some random male stranger spoke such words to your mother, sister, wife or daughter?? I reached there at 930 pm, the restaurant is advertised to close at 10 pm. The managers agreed to serve food, the waiter (I wish I knew his name) was extremely ill mannered and continued to tell me that the restaurant is closing, initially gave out the menu and then started making choices for me, said I can get you schezuan noodles. Excuse me, did I ask you to choose for me. I had to leave because any thing I would ask for would be unavailable at that time. I feel like customers are not a priority to them. Really tasty food. People working there are very kind and soft spoken. The ambiance is much better than other Indian restaurants nearby. All veg food, so ideal for many people. Its a new place so they are still learning a few things, but for the short time they have been open, its doing pretty good. There are so many dishes included in the buffet menu which are not even made at any other Indian restaurant! I know its only going to get better from here! read more
