    Lunch special
    Ryan S.

I got the all you can eat lunch special for $18, which includes the naan. It is a ton of great food for pretty cheap! I really liked the tandoori chicken (middle on rice), chicken tikka masala (bottom left), and goat curry (bottom middle). Everything was good! The service was really good, and they will quickly bring out additional servings of each item! The inside of the restaurant is also nice.

Really fantastic. Bold flavors with lots of great options on a fairly expansive menu. We ordered takeout, and the ordering experience was extremely easy. Everything was well-packaged, and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. This certainly wasn't health food, with a good layer of oil sitting on the top of various dishes, but it was very flavorful with a nice combination of vegetables and textures. The space has the feel of something that might have previously been a bar, but that gives the place an inviting and comfortable vibe. I'm definitely looking forward to heading back in the future to try a few different items from the menu.

An Indian FEAST! Since my trip to India, I have been craving authentic Indian cuisine. This BYOB restaurant hit the spot! Anyone who has heard me talk about Indian food knows that my favorite dish is chilli paneer, and it is surprisingly hard to find that dish here in Pittsburgh! Masala House has it & it is delicious (but definitely heavy on the spice level!). We followed that with lamb koorma, tandoori chicken, & goat vindaloo. All of the food was delicious, and we definitely love a good BYOB! I can't believe I hadn't been here before...I'll definitely be back! Food: A- Drinks: N/A Atmosphere: B Service: B-

    Chicken Biriyani

The inside of the restaurant is nicely decorated and the service is good. Our server was very kind and seemed very nice. However, we felt like the food really skimped on meat/quality! We ordered the lamb vindaloo, which had more potatoes than lamb! There were about four small pieces of lamb and the rest was ALL potato. We each ate two cubes of lamb in the ENTIRE entree dish we received. Same with the chicken biriyani we ordered--it had three drumsticks in it that weirdly were mostly just bone. The chicken hadn't fallen off the bone and was elsewhere in the rice either, I'm not really sure where it went or if they purposefully use more bony pieces for the biriyani? It was disappointing because otherwise the flavors of the food were really good. The chicken 65 was our favorite thing we ordered, one of the best I've had. Overall, I would come back to try the lunch special but I wish our food was better quality in terms of actually having meat in it. Otherwise I could've just ordered a vegetarian dish or plain rice. Last thing, I really think they should play music or something in the restaurant for ambiance. It was dead quiet (we were the only ones there for dinner) and we felt like we couldn't really have a conversation with the awkward silence. I would come back to try lunch but was disappointed the dinner wasn't what we expected based on reviews on here! Still glad we tried it out.

For indecisive diners, Masala House makes it easy. They have it narrowed down to two lunch choices: Vegetarian Thali plate Non-Veg Thali plate Five little bowls (refills available upon request) Tandoori chicken leg Generous basmati rice One Galub Jamun (fried donut soaked in honey/sugar and rose water) Limitless naan 5-6 dessert options - I recommend the mango mansari (?)

Really enjoyed this experience. Restaurant week for sit down all you can eat. The concept was a little confusing in terms of how you ordered. Seemed to be a few mains to select from and all the endless options thereafter. Wasn't sure what I could get more of and whatnot. A more clear menu would have helped. The star by all 4 at my table was the fish soup. Server was very nice!

They seem to offer a lunch buffet that had numerous options. I ordered the butter chicken that came with white rice. I also ordered garlic naan. It used…read moreto be a vibrant little buffet spot with music from Bollywood videos churning through the place, and it was lively with college kids. The last two times I visited, not so much. Last time, I didn't review; every restaurant has an off day. Today, I am so irritated by what I paid for the worst quality food and service that when I left, a couple was coming up the steps and I told them they should go elsewhere. (They did. I hope they landed somewhere great.) First of all, the lunch buffet had so little to offer -- bunches of empty trays full of sauces with nothing in the sauce (butter chicken with no chicken, muttar paneer with no paneer, etc). Dried up tandoori chicken, frozen sweet corn fritters like you'd see at eat n park on a Saturday morning, cold chicken wings, no naan (an Indian buffet without bread??) eventually replaced by dry, unbuttered naan -- these were several of your choices. Barely anything was refreshed. The noodles in both the savory dish and dessert were dried out and crusty. Overall the buffet was truly terrible--sparse, cold, and of poor quality. The cauliflower Manchurian, chili chicken, poori, samosas, nice vegetable curries....all a thing of this buffet's past. (New ownership? It has to be new ownership, right!?) The server never cleared our plates (though we barely filled them), never brought water refills, never asked how everything was. They don't even set the table anymore; grab your silverware and napkins at the buffet. When I went to ring out, three of us cost $60 (I still cannot believe I paid $20 a head for this) and the minimum tip choice I was given on the payment screen was 20%, which is laughable. I'm truly not a complainer; I eat out a lot and I simply don't expect that every experience will be stellar because most aren't, so I almost never review a bad experience because--like I said, even good places have a bad day. But this was bad enough that I hope I've saved you from going there.

Its menu lists vegetarian and non-vegetarian appetizers, chaat, soups, salads, kathi rolls, vegetarian entrees, tandoori entrees, rices, curries, some Indo-Chinese entrees, breads, desserts, and drinks. Prices are reasonable. Most recently, I ordered Taj Mahal's foods through a delivery service. Here are my reviews for what I ate: Butter Chicken - 4.5 stars - Large, juicy chunks of chicken were covered in a sauce that was sweet and moderately spicy. I had requested mildly spicy, which I enjoyed but my husband thought was slightly too spicy. Samosas - 5 stars - Two samosas were a large size, had a crispy outside, and nicely spiced potatoes and peas on the inside. Garlic Naan - 5 stars - The naan was a large size, was chewy and crispy, and was seasoned with the right amount of garlic.
