Chuys is Tex Mex for a fair price . The food is nothing to write home about ; it's better than fast food but not quality TexMex either . Their margaritas, in my opinion , are not that good as well . Now , all that being said , it's an ok place to stop and grab a inexpensive Tex Mex bite during your lunch hour. The atmosphere is ok and service , like most places , is hit or miss depending on who you get . If you haven't been , it's worth a try but there are so many other options in the metroplex that are just plain better . JMO read more

Still nasty! My husband got takeout twice recently. The first time he got home and half of the order wasn't even correct. Second time we got 2 kids bean and cheese burrito meals and they're supposed to be vegetarian. One burrito had a decent sized bone in it. This was not okay on so many levels. Number one, my child could've broken her tooth or chocked... two- why was there a bone in something we were told was veg. It was repulsive and infuriating that it wasn't caught when foxy was made- should've been easily visible as it was not a tiny shard. It was about 3.5" long! This location is garbage consistently. Have had good experiences in the past. Don't go often because don't live in Denton. First, was disappointed Chile Rellenos no longer available. So, ordered steak burrito. Some meat was charred, and tasted burnt. Server provided a replacement, and it also tasted burnt. Manager did take off check, asked if wanted something else, but by that time my taste buds and appetite were gone. Also asked for queso and fresh flour tortillas with drink order and never got either. Server set drinks down and never saw again until after food order. We ordered pick up from here and the last time they just totally messed up the orders. We ordered the burritos with queso. Food arrived rather cold. So I don't judge them on this because it's on the other side of Denton from us. I'm sure it...rather hope...it would been hot had we dined in. But we don't dine in anywhere currently. But geez our food arrived and they completely forgot the queso. So we have bland burritos with no sauce at all. Who would eat that? But here is where the train really left the tracks... We called to report our order was incomplete and the person told us "Well...we were really busy so we don't have time to check take out orders" Uhhhh excuse me? That's horrible service. Came here on a whim for a lunch out! This location is next to Buc-ees which is very convenient. I was surprised to see how low their review quota is as it was pretty crowded when I first stepped in. Service is excellent. For appetizers, we had chips with salsa and queso. The salsa had a slight kick to it, which I love. I ordered the chicka chicka boom boom enchilada which is one of their famous dishes. It is essentially an enchilada doused in their famous semi-spicy cheesy sauce. The food is delicious here. I am not a fan of their salsa but I love their queso with the guacamole in it too. Their tortillas are made fresh and in house. The atmosphere is vibrant and energetic. We enjoy going here when we can get in. Often there is a wait but it is nice to wait in your car and just get a text when your table is ready. I enjoy coming to Chuy's for some Tex-Mex food. There isn't one bad thing I've had here. Service is always good at this location. It's very rare that I have to wait to be seated. When it's nice weather out I recommend sitting in the patio area. The happy hour bar is pretty cool. You get the free nacho bar and drink prices are decent. The bar area isn't too big, but there are tables in the area that you can be waited on. I really like the chips and salsa. Their salsa is a little sweet and not spicy. We were given some ranch salsa on this visit, which was new to our service there and really good. If you're running out of chips and salsa they are quick to bring by more! Driving up to Chuy's it is colorful, bright. The building itself screams as if there is a party always going on. Since I visited on such a gloomy day the outer shell of the restuarant was a mood lifter. The inside says the same thing but on a more compact level. Coming into he entrance, it seem like there is wide open space. Unfortunately, moving toward our seating area, I found it difficult to navigate without slamming into someone's elbow and or chair. It almost seems as the area is a fire hazard, in my opinion. Service Our hostess was responsive and quick to seat us. Our server, at first interaction, seemed great. Unfortunately, as the punch went on it seemed more and more apparent that he may have been under the influence and/or excessively tired. Questions were asked, but the server would space out before answering them. There were a few times we called upon him, but he just looked at us and walked away. We did observe a table he was serving right next to us. He was taking orders, and I would assume he had water on his little plate holder. Instead of excusing himself and cleaning it at another location, he simply poured whatever liquid was on his holder right onto the floor, next to the guests he was serving. I could see the reactions of the guests; some seemed appalled others perplexed on what the substance was that was dropped on the floor. Fortunately, the saving grace of the restaurant chain is its food. We ordered the Pork Boom-Boom enchiladas, and my date ordered the Macho Burrito. Both came relatively quick considering how the restaurant was busy. The portions were huge. The portions were big enough to warrant the left overs as a second meal and/or dinner. I love a place that serves that much food for a reasonable price, and this establishment would be one of them. The appearance was not messy at all considering the business. After diving into the food, the flavors were all there. Everything was unique tasting and distinguishable from one another. The sauce on the Boom-Boom enchiladas was excellent. After receiving the check, and being elated from the food, I felt in a fast hurry to get out. Even though the food was amazing, the service and the crowdedness of the facility makes me hesitate to return. In addition, the unfortunate part was that this was my second visit to the place. Chuy's, I really wanted to like you. If I summarize my experience here in one word: meh. They were fairly busy but there was still plenty of seating available and there was no wait. The service was really slow, you had to wait a long time to even get a refill of chips, forget about a drink refill. We got their Queso Cumpouesto which was really good, thick queso with ground beef. It had good seasoning, a little spicy but not too much. We eventually ordered, I got the tacos al carbon and my wife ordered the steak fajitas. It took a really long time to get the order and when we got the food it was lukewarm. It's fairly unusual when someone order fajitas to not see the griddle steaming hot. In fact, some of the meat was stuck to my wife's plate. The waitress was nowhere to be seen. We were hungry and had a very tired 11 year old so we didn't have the time to deal with waiting on the waitress or go find her since it took so long to check on us. Chuy's is a staple when I come back to DFW to visit friends and family. My mother and I stopped by Chuy's one night for dinner and sat in the bar area. Oh man! What stood out to me was how flavorful the food here is! Just by the chip and dip they provided before you order, the salsa was OMG so amazing. I loved it so much! It had a hint of spices which I liked the most! I also ordered the queso which is also delicious! It's watery when it was hot but after awhile, it got a better consistency. I ordered the elvis enchiladas combo and WOW! SO much food! It was affordable and oh man, I cannot express how much flavor there was. I would definitely be coming back! Delish! We have been going to Chuy's for years. Always a favorite. Since COVID hit not so much. We went Saturday with our grandson and friend. My wife ordered Chicken fajitas and I had the Comida deluxe. It took quite a while to get our food. When we got it, mine looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a very long time. It didn't taste like before. My wife couldn't even eat her fajitas, they were way over seasoned. I didn't believe her but I ate some of hers and I couldn't eat it either. I haven't been to this location in a really long time. The first year they opened, I came a few times for work lunches with my boss and I had a strong memory of getting full from chips, salsa and jalapeno ranch before my food came. My husband and I were in the midst of running errands Saturday evening and stopped here on a whim since the location is easily accessible from the highway. I forgot how colorful this place is and they have a pretty large patio, but it was too warm outside for that. When we entered, there was a server and the hostess at the front and since we were the only people waiting, we were sat quickly. I had also forgotten they have different themes in each room. We walked through a room with a lot of plastic palm trees and were sat in the hub cap room. For me the food was a 3 and service was 4 1/2, which exceeded my expectations for a chain. The restaurant was kept very cold on a hot day, the portions were very large and the menu is very customizable. Erin gave outstanding service and everyone we dealt with was very friendly. They have enough servers, but they could use 1-2 more people at the host stand during peak times. After being in the restaurant for a while, the air conditioning was giving my arms goosebumps. I was very grateful for the AC working so well, I just didn't want to be uncomfortable eating, so I went to retrieve a sweater from my car. When I walked out, there were 2 people waiting for the hostess to return. When I came back in, there were more than 10 people I had to maneuver through. They have the really thin chips, if that's your preference, and they have a lot of spices mixed into their salsa. In my opinion, their salsa is really hot because it's a watery consistency where I barely got any on my chip, but my mouth was on fire! Had the salsa been thick and chunky, I may have had tears in my eyes! If you like the thin restaurant style chips and spicy salsa, you will be very satisfied! The jalapeno ranch is now called Creamy Jalapeno and is still good. This is heavy on the ranch so it's low on the spicy scale. They have 5 or 6 sauces with varying levels of spice that are free, so you can certainly meet the different tastes and spicy tolerance levels at a table without paying extra for it, that's a nice touch. The chili con queso that came with the appetizer plate was spicier than most places serve it, but not so hot you couldn't eat it. The portion sizes are ridiculous and my eyes bugged out when the food came. The Chuychanga my husband got was gigantic and the appetizer plate had larger portions than I was expecting, it was way too much food and I was at a loss. I rarely say this about a place, but I honestly would prefer smaller portions and cheaper prices on the menu. This isn't to say the prices were outrageous, I just can't eat this much food and thought it was a little over the top. If you are coming with a group, consider splitting some plates- you can try different things and still get full and keep the price down. If you are dining on your own or can't share for another reason, a lot of the items are $9-12. The rice was decent, a bit heavy on the tomatoes for my taste, and the beans tasted fine but had that dark, crusty look to them that I do not find appetizing. The nachos tasted good, but the chips are thin for this use and got floppy right away, so I wouldn't order the entrée portion in the future. I liked the flautas the most of everything I had, crispy but not too greasy, and they used pulled chicken. The food also arrived quickly. We pulled in on a whim, now that I have seen the reviews, there are plenty of other things I would try based on consistent reviews. This is a chain, so don't bring anyone here who is expecting authentic Mexican, lol. The service is where I was blown away and it definitely increased the rating. Erin was everywhere at once! We had plenty of napkins, refills on drinks and chips were done quickly before we noticed we needed them, she checked on us and how the food was on multiple occasions and was so thoughtful. When she brought the to go containers, she brought one specifically for the chili con queso and brought to go sauces based on what we ordered, without being asked! She was also up front with me on the sweet tea situation, not a very sweet batch that day, so I could order something I would enjoy. She had a lot of menu suggestions and ways to customize to get your ideal plate too. I love these details in a server and would love to be seated in her section on our next visit! Overall, a nice place to hang out and enjoy some company. There are plenty of items on the menu left to try... or probably share, and great service will have me coming back again. This location is good for groups and definitely can cater to those of you with spicy tastes. We moved to Denton about 2 months ago. We've been enjoying all of the "new-to-us" places to eat. We've been to a Chuy's before, and we're happy to have one in our own hometown. I'm not the kind of person to complain stuff here is a rundown concisely of our recent experience in Aug 2021 at Dentin Chuy's. Service was good. Not bad, not exceptional. The salsa, served with chips, was way too over salted. It used to be my favorite thing at Chuy's. We had to ask fir the green avocado salsa. The ground beef meat in the tacos was also so overly salted that I couldn't finish them. They only had refried beans. Not black or Charro (whole). I had asked fir "extra tomatoes" and I was charged fir them, but my tacos had maybe 6 dice pieces. The Mexican Rice had zero flavor (no salt lol) and was quite a bit dry. All of the male only wait staff seemed to be of a certain persuasion and were dressed, what seemed unprofessional, in tight T shirts and shirts. Not of the traditional Mexican Heritage or anything resembling uniformity l, other that a half apron. The lettuce was crisp and Fresh with no brown spots. The BlackBerry Margarita was excellent. We're actually glad they were out of their watermelon Flavor. I don't think we will be back to this Chuy's even tho' it so close. There are too many other places. Never go to @chuysdenton with a party more then 4. Last night my moms surprise party was ruined by the crappy service we received, from the manger and staff at @chuysdenton. I cant tell you how the food was, we never even made it to the table. There was 20 of us and we had all planned to meet at chuys at 7. I got there at 630 to make sure we had our place in line it was going to be a 45 minute wait not a big deal I expected this which is why I got there so early . At 8 we were still waiting for our table. Was told they are just waiting on one table to finish, they had just gotten their food. Anyone who has worked food knows that they were seated even after we got there. Then manager Michelle was rude. Never apologized, and just gave us excuses and didn't even offer us anything while we were waiting. After seeing what had transpired we decided we were gonna take our money and party elsewhere. As I was waiting for the cake they took to the back I could over hear their front desk people talking and laughing at our situation. That just put the icing on the cake for me on bad service. Waited nearly 45 mins for food to go out. We got very basic food so I'm not sure what took so long. Food was disgusting. Way too expensive for being so gross. Small portions spread out on HUGE plates. I couldn't even cut through my enchiladas. Mac and cheese looked like it was a week old and didn't even taste like cheese. Big fan of Chuy's! I am never disappointed when I visit here. Happy hour is the best! Drinks and a free nacho bar served out of the back of a car. I love the fresh salsa and chips, flour tortillas, and the beans. They also have taco meat and queso on the nacho bar. My favorite drink is the Texas martini. My go to meal here is the guacamole soft tacos. The rice and beans are vegetarian and delicious! Customer service is always good. Plenty of seating, with space in the bar, restaurant, and outside on the patio. There are heaters and fans outside to help with whatever the weather is. Kids meals are pretty big here, so they're worth the price. I can usually share a platter with someone and be satisfied after eating so many chips with salsa.
