I gave 5 stars because the food was decent and I had a great time but mainly because our waitress was the best part of our meal! She was very nice and friendly very informative and attentive and she went out of her way to do things for us! She provided us with details about the menu, when ever I asked for a margarita she provided samples for me to be able to select the one I liked the most! She even offered to bring my friend a sample plate because it was her first time there! And when we were finished she provided us with complimentary desert since my birthday was a few days before. Oh Chuy's.... how do I love thee??? Let me count the ways..... IMO, Chuy's is the best Texmex around. You can't beat the nacho car during happy hour from 4-7 on weekdays. It includes, chips, salsa, ground beef, re-fried beans and queso. Plus, you can't beat half price margaritas! My all time favorite thing at Chuy's are cheese enchiladas with boom boom sauce, green chile rice and re-fried beans. It is spicy cheesy goodness! Try the boom boom sauce all on its own as an alternative to plain ole queso. I also love the shrimp chile rellano. I've tried the boom boom, ranchero and green chile sauce. All of them are amazing. You can taste the freshness in every bite. I have loved everything I have ever had there and I appreciate that all of their employees appear to genuinely happy. I think Chuy's did a better job at filling me up than any Thanksgiving dinner has ever done. I wish I was wearing some elastic shorts last night, and not trying to look suave in some skinny fit dockers, but sometimes you just... Although I've never been a fan of restaurants with paraphernalia on the walls and ceilings, I let it go when I come to Chuy's, for I know I'm about to be served a good meal and completely content on my way out the door. I think I've been 3 or 4 times now, and the service has always been good. Waiters are attentive to our refills, and the food comes out faster than most other places. For the quality and authenticity of your meal, the prices are very fair, a solid reason why I won't turn down a Chuy's trip, unless I can't afford the calories that day. I'm not kidding about that either, I felt like I went up a weight class when I got up from the table. I had the Heavenly Combo, which I think is a seasonal entree, unfortunately. Something like a Frito Pie enchilada, with a fried green pepper stuffed with cheese. Both parts of the entree were great, but ridiculously spicy. The same goes for the rice and beans. Like they took a pepper grinder filled with green pepper seeds and just cranked it out over my plate. I enjoyed it, but now I'm aware.. Though I'm not a fan of margaritas, they make a nice one, so I can easily recommend anyone who's curious. The chips are too salty for me, but that didn't stop me from eating a few baskets. The red table salsa they provide is has some real fresh flavor, but the verde is the real MVP. If you're a fan of the green, don't hesitate to ask for it. read more

An employee walked up to look at the seating chart and said absolutely nothing to us and then left. I was ready to turn around and walk out the door when my husband said, "why don't we try the bar". I am so glad he did. We had EXCEPTIONAL service from Jackson and Dave. Dave was clearly in training, but was looking ahead and finding ways to take care of customers. My hubby and I love the queso compuesto! Also, love the tortilla soup but the chicken needs to be bite sized. Lots of HH specials and the restaurant is always packed when you walk in. The best thing about Chuy's is the fresh quality of the food! The salsa and tortillas are made fresh daily. And, you can tell the chicken is fresh too, they use the same big chunks in the enchiladas as they do in the other chicken dishes. I've even had their beef fajitas, medium rare of course, and paired with homemade tortillas. We've finally found a special place if you're craving Mexican food in this area. The menu is quite extensive, so I haven't worked my way though everything yet. But I am intrigued with Elvis' fried chicken, fish/shrimp tacos and their shrimp and cheese relleno. When we came to the restaurant the hostesses were pretty rude to us and we weren't being karens I PROMISE like we were asking what the wait would be and why they said they could accommodate us when they had no space and the girl working seemed like she was annoyed with us for asking and showing up? Chuy's is one of our favorite restaurants and our go-to for TexMex. we love their chips & queso and their chicken flautas are the best! The food is always delicious and served hot & tasty. I also wanted to commend Madeline, who has been our server on several occasions. She always is so helpful and has the most positive attitude. She makes dining out a real treat and we appreciate her commitment to customer service. Regardless of how busy Chuy's may be, she frequently checks back on her customers to ensure their meal is complete and delicious. She was so patient with all of our questions and she recommended I try the boom boom sauce on my Elvis Green Chili Fried Chicken and I loved it. Let me start by saying I despise writing bad reviews but this feels necessary. My husband and I decided to visit chuys for our wedding anniversary this year, I had been looking forward to this dinner for over a week. Upon walking in we noticed how incredibly loud it was inside the restaurant, we were rushed into a very crowded and uncomfortable room. We sat at our table waiting for a waiter/waitress to notice us for nearly 15 minutes, once our waitress noticed us we were rushed through ordering our drinks and even though we were ready to order our food at this point she didn't give us a chance. She left us with chips and salsa, this salsa was unlike any Chuys salsa I've ever had, it was watery and separated. The entire time we were waiting for our order the family next to us was yelling their very inappropriate conversation making my husband and myself very uncomfortable. Then our food came, I ordered a chicken fajita burrito with charro beans instead of refried as I dislike the texture refried beans. The outside of my burrito was room temperature at best though the inside was warm. I must admit I was confused when the waitress dropped off a bowl of charro beans but I didn't think much of it until I felt the uncomfortable texture of refried beans in my mouth. To add to this I struggled to find any chicken in burrito other than the single piece on top and the queso on top of it was oily, at this point I was pretty upset and wanted to tell the waitress about the issues. She offered to bring me a bowl of chicken (???) and I said no thank you I'd rather just remove the burrito from our order entirely since I only took 2 bites. She didn't offer me a menu to order something else she just assumed I was done which I was not, I would've liked to actually eat dinner. The free dessert advertised on the menu wasn't offered to my daughter but at this point we just wanted to leave so we packed up what was left of my husbands meal (which he wasn't pleased with either but I won't get into that). To sum up our experience we felt like the waitress was more interested in the large table next to us (larger table larger tip) than she ever was in us. As an Austinite this was my first time visiting a Chuys in Denton and I am extremely disappointed, I had high expectations and ended up leaving hungry. read more

Great food! Great service! Our waiter, I think Robert???, was awesome! I will correct this review with his real name. The double margarita my son got was great, but expensive! The chips were crisp and fresh and the salsa was plentiful! Love the Salsa! Had the Flauta's and son had a Smothered Burrito. Son, who likes spicy foods, complained that the sauce on the burrito was too hot. He sucked it up and kept diving in. Declared it great with some extra sour cream to tame the heat. Seriously! We use to eat at the chuy's in Denton 3 or 4 times a month. We have seen them go steadily downhill. The last time we ate there before this time was about eight months ago and I gave him one star because of their poor service and poor prepared food. We decided yesterday to give them another chance. The service was very good, our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The problem was still the food. A cheese enchilada with the Tex-Mex sauce was the worst I have ever been served. The sauce had definitely been burnt, and not only looked burnt (totally black ) it had a burnt smell and taste. There is no way that the cook would not have known that the sauce was inedible. Needless to say with that attitude I did not send it back as I was afraid what I would get in return. This was our first chuys experience, as we are new to the area... my husband and I always sit at the bar when we go out and usually get just ok service, however, that was not the case here! Sadie T was our waitress last night. If I could leave zero stars for the service I had, I would. She consistently took at least 30 mins to give us a refill on our drinks, chips, and salsa. Waited 40 mins to an hour for the food. While waiting for the food, she did not ask us if we are doing ok, or needed anything. I literally saw her tend to every table that was drinking an alcoholic beverage. Yet, she would make direct eye contact with me, and avoid coming to my table as much as possible. Not once did she apologize for the delay once the food has arrived. She did not even come over to ask how the food was. She continued to act like nothing has happened, and like it is completely normal to continue to give us mediocre "service". She had a bad attitude the entire time. Still have yet to find a really good Mexican spot in denton county. Chuy's was recommended by a friend from CA that had moved to TX saying this is as close to CA Mexican food as you are going to get. Nope. It's still tex mex and I cannot wrap my head around why people go so crazy over this type of food. I ordered flautas. Flour tortillas usually deep fried with chicken or beef inside. Nope. Chicken taquitos with tomato sauce on top. I am not kidding. My hubby ordered something with beef but he didn't enjoy that either. My mom had the chuychanga and was almost instantly sick. Even the chips and salsa were disappointing. Sorry, nothing could bring us back. Guess we have to commit to making our own Mexican food. read more

Even though Chuys is a chain restaurant, it is great! I have been doing here since it opened and it's been a great addition to the city of Denton. The atmosphere at Chuys is different then most restaurants and it's fun looking at the decorations. I believe the ceiling of the room to the right has like wheel rims, pretty cool! Now to the food, first off you gotta love free chips and salsa! If you ask them they'll give you a side of jalepeno ranch to dip the chips in and that is amazing!! I have tried a good amount of entrees on the menu but my favorite are the chimichanga, the steak burrito, the chicka chicka boom boom enchiladas and my favorite of them all, the Elvis Fried Chicken! All of them are great options and you can't go wrong with them. The Elvis fried Chicken is insanely good, it's a chicken breaded with lays potato chips fried to perfection! It's a huge slice of chicken. Eat it with the jalapeño ranch and that's an amazing dinner! The menu does have a lot of variety of dishes. The appetizer sampler is great too and good bang for your buck. The main dishes isn't that only reason I go to Chuys, they also have one of my favorite desserts that I love, the Tres Leches cake! It's so moist and creamy, it is a must try and you won't hate it! If I am craving something sweet, I'm getting this cake! Chuys does a big business and i nore than understand places are crowded but today was a fiasco. Called ahead for seating I was told I'd be 15 minutes. Got there checked in and was told it would be 15 to 20 minutes more And was offered to sit outside and for obvious reasons no one was sitting outside it is freaking hot lol. Decided to check the bar out for open seating. Sure enough three empty booths one, two, three. Ask the bartender if someone could clean the one in the corner for our group. She said yes. However she didn't ask anyone to. finally a Nice man came and cleaned off every booth but the one we wanted but we stay loose. He got to ours last but he got there. When we get waited on we end up not getting one of the orders for the children. Going after napkins in the bathroom three different times. Having to ask for more chips as one for the big round table just won't cut it. It took a long time to get that food by the time it came everybody was full of chips lol. And not getting the order for one child made for a cranky child. When we got finished with this long meal of self service mainly we got notified that our table was ready. All in all won't be going back anytime soon. And please for that person who's going to say everyone is working short staff this place did not appear to. I had the beef fajita tacos Al carbon. The first time it was really good nothing to complain about but went today and the tacos were not good at all. The beef fajita meat was chewy and you could not bite through the meat. So either the meat was cut the wrong way or just a horrible piece of meat that should not have been served. One tortilla was really small and the next one was twice the size of the first one. I couldn't even eat the tacos because you pulled all the meat out with one bite. It's not that hard to cut fajita meat. You should train better or check the meat before it's sent out. Probably won't ever order steak meat from here again if I go back. read more
