I usually love Chuys. However I got really sick this last weekend from my curbside order there, a steak burrito. I was so bummed because i had specially budgeted to get it, and immediately after eating it I was sick. :( I reached out online asking for a refund because I'd love to stay a loyal customer but something was wrong with my order, either the way the steak was cooked or if it was left out too long with the curbside orders. So it was very busy Tuesday night at your establishment but the wait was not very long and everyone was really courteous so I was impressed. We realized that y'all closed at 9 so we just order queso and get the rest of our order to go. The waiter was very nice and he came back quick with everything. So again I am impressed. Then my husband and I get back to our hotel room with over $70 in food and realize there is no silverware or tortillas to eat our fajitas with. I was looking forward to eating here but after waiting at our table for 20 minutes, without a server in sight to provide us with menus, my family and i decided to leave. We asked two different gentleman for help and both disregarded us. We were a Latino family among many white families at this MEXICAN restaurant.... It was very evident that the other families were a priority and received swift service when it was requested. I am not one to put so much energy into racial profiling.... However it was very apparent that we were not as important as the families that showed up AFTER us and received service. When we finally had a server assigned to our table he was very nice and speedy when it came to bringing out our drinks. This place is always packed so we figured it would be good. The smell walking in should've been enough of a warning but that I didn't heed. The waitstaff was amazing. I will say that. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and engaging. The decor is a bit much. The food was perhaps more Tex than Mex, for my taste. I won't return. My guacamole was not fresh, the jalapeño cream sauce was a bit warm but did taste okay. We were hungry. My waiter however was super attentive and brought us more chips when he saw it getting low. I figured the drinks would help cut any bacteria I may have consumed so I powered through. The margarita was good. The rice was a bit on the mushy side.. not sure if the grains were just broken or if they mushed it. I expect my grains to keep shape and separate. I mean this is a restaurant, rice should come out perfectly cooked. The beans tasted like canned beans. The tacos I ordered were okay but no better than let's say Taco Bell. I feel like Taco Bell is fresher. Husband wasn't impressed with the stacked enchiladas. We don't understand why it's always so packed. The food isn't great. It has got to be the drinks. This was a nice spot for dinner. It was super busy. I am spoiled in California with Mexican food so I had high expectations when I came here. The waitress was nice and helpful. The food was good. It's not the best I have ever been too but it was very enjoyable being there. Although there were many people, the volume wasn't extremely loud . I can still carry a conversation with my party. My 1 year old daughter loved the rice and tortilla. I can tell that it's homemade bc it's nothing like the store. We got 2 plates a side dish and it came out to be around $16. I get there and I had to wait about 10 minutes to be greeted, it was about 3 other people waiting also. No one was in the front to take our order, seat us or direct us. So after someone finally said something to me, she said "oh to go is over there" then i had to wait more time for someone else to get the order (i already ordered over the phone 30 minutes ago). The waiter was great...service great....even gave small samples of frozen margaritas that were great. I'll always be honest on reviews or either just not write one. I ordered the enchiladas and split them 1 beef and 1 chicken. Bottom line..they just weren't good. The beef was edible but the chicken was rubbery and was kinda like chewing on fat. Just wasn't good. I'm sure they typically do better, but my experience wasn't one that I was happy with. Outside chance i'd go back to give them a 2nd chance,(based on their effort ..ie waitstaff..)but that first meal made it difficult to do so...I was with great company so that always makes it a little better. When I first moved to Houston in the 90's I enjoyed going to Chuy's near River Oaks. I still have the Chuy Brown shirt from there. When family and friends came for a visit a trip to Chuy's was always on the "to do" list to experience Tex Mex. But having not lived in Texas for a while, I haven't been to Chuy's for a long time. I can't get Tex Mex where I'm stationed, so I decided to pop by for a visit, with the family in tow since they've never had it, before I shipped out. We hit the one in Humble because it was closest. Maybe things were just better when you're younger, but after this visit I was a bit disappointed with where the franchise has gone. On the plus side our waitress, who seemed new, was really nice and attentive. Just like Chuy's always is. But sadly the food took forever to get to our table. It's not her fault, but it was really long. It was after 1:30 pm when we were seated so it was not even crowded. I was thinking the food would come out quickly because we went after the lunch crowd was gone, but it didn't. We were sitting near a table where a bunch of waitstaff were having lunch. They brought a dozen plates of food for them before we got our food about another 20 minutes thereafter. Now I'm all for the staff eating lunch with the crowd. But it was a bit awkward watching them eat while we waited for our food because my 5 year old kept asking me where our food was. I think if it hadn't taken so long for our food it would've been fine. Now all this would be tolerable if the food was as I remembered it. But as you can probably guess with where this story is going, it wasn't. Not nearly as good as I remembered it. Chips were crisp which I always emphasize is huge for me. So many places can't even do this right. But everything else was just so so. The tres leches was really huge which got us all excited. But then we ate it and the excitement drained out of us leaving us high and dry like the tres leches we were eating. It was so dry especially on the upper half. It reminded me of a stale piece of dry, crumbly white cake from Kroger (photo attached). The bottom was a tad moister but it was nowhere like the Tres Leches you get at Chimichurri's or Churrasco's. I'm wondering how they made it. Did they put cake in a pan of leches and let it soak from bottom up, in which case maybe they didn't leave it long enough in the pan. Or on the other hand did they soak the entire cake in leches but it sat out so long that gravity pulled all the leches down leaving the upper half dry. For the main course I had my favorite, the Chuychanga. Sadly it was also on the dry side. Now everything said so far was disappointing, but it went from bad to worse after I found a piece of plastic wire/string in my food. What's going on here. This is the second time this week I've found junk in my food in the Kingwood area. Looked like fishing line or the kind of plastic wire/string that is used to hold a price tag on a shirt. I showed our waitress and she was mortified. The manager came over and asked if there was a problem. Um duh. I told him what happened since he didn't seem to know, but I didn't have the wire/string anymore as the waitress had taken it. The manager then said he saw it already and asked if we wanted another Chuychanga as we had stopped eating after the incident. We declined the offer. When we got the bill they didn't charge us for the Chuychanga which was good since we didn't even finish it. But the whole experience left me putting my head against the wall like Chuy Brown always did in the comics, doubting my confidence in the franchise. read more

I know when they started franchising nationally there was a need to operationalize everything. I wish the enchiladas still had something inside them. The Charro beans were mealy and tasteless. BUT! Sadly, This Chuy's is going downhill. We've been coming to this location since it opened. My husband and I normally order the fajitas. They have previously been good but the last time it seemed like the quality was slipping and so is the service. We decided to order something different last Sunday (1/31/20). BTW, I like the special green sauce. Anyhow, we took other family members to this Chuy's and my daughter ended up with food sickness and was throwing up the rest of the evening. Also, my picture shows what my remade food looked like. I ordered a quesadilla (menu says loaded) with onions, green chilies and cheese. The first order looked worse than the picture since there were no onions or green chilies and very little cheese. Hard to believe it could look worse...right? The chunck chicken was dry and tasteless. I felt like my meal was a large kid's meal or a cook's afterthought. It was the kind of meal where one might wish they had stayed home and eaten microwave food (which is desperation food). We had to wait a lot since our waitress was too busy and this is the second time (in a month) that they were short staffed. Picking up the kid's chair was so gross...all were sticky and dirty. Also, another guy (not our server) brought cheese queso to our table but we told him we didn't order it. He got our server to come over and we told her we didn't order it. She said, "Yes, you did" (to my husband) and then she walked away. My husband is a no drama guy so he didn't want to argue. It was on our bill and we paid for it. Our server remade my food with a hurried attitude and we left her a good tip but wish we hadn't. We won't eat here again for a long time...if ever. There are other choices and we're especially saddened that our daughter got sick from the food. The only meal that was decent was the luke-warm soup. BTW, we all dislike the gobbs of lettuce that you place under the guacamole...to increase the volume. I can't eat lettuce anyhow, so it's VERY frustrating to try and pull it all out...if I forget to ask for "no lettuce." Chuy's doesn't even have lettuce listed on the menu as part of the guacamole. We order guacamole...not lettuce. So, why not let people order both if they want both. Please stop serving guac on lettuce...please. Just give us less guac if you want to be cheap. We already know you're cheap when you put more lettuce than guacamole. read more

Came in with mom and dad and our waitress Brittany was an absolute delight. She went above and beyond while being such a joy. It's been a year since we have been back and everything was just as delicious! She gave us to a to-go jalapeño sauce AND fresh hot chips because my mom was raving about it so much! How thoughtful:) she also gave us waters with a lemons on the side in a ramekin if we wanted which is more thoughtful than throwing them in the water cuz sometimes you don't automatically want lemon water so thank you. This is my second time eating here at Chuy's. The first time was around May and I ordered Chicken Flautas with Mexican rice and beans. The Flautas were crispy and chicken was seasoned well. The rice and beans were pretty good. Today I ordered two chicken soft tacos Al Carbon. The flour tortilla was fluffy and yummy!! I loved it :).. After a day of writing my reviews for Yelp, i was craving some Chuy's! It was a long day at work so i couldn't wait to chow down on some chips and queso with a nice cold beer. If you want good, solid TexMex with a little bit of an Elvis flair, go to Chuy's. Enchilada's, good. Flautas, good, Chile Relleno, good, Margaritas, good. The food's all good. Try Elvis's special. You'll love it. Even if you already like Chuy's, you need to be sure to head over for their Hatch Chile Pepper season. They go overboard with the nummy hatches. I can't get enough of those babies. Service at Chuy's is always pretty good. Things can get slow when they're jammed and you should not expect to get in and out in a hurry. Chuy's also serves a yummy creamy jalapeno dip which I thought was gret even though I don't normally touch jalapenos. Nice start to the meal. I had trouble deciding what to order so I finally settled on the Comida Deluxe Combo. It included enchilada, chicken flautas, a taco and some tostada chips and rice. It wa quite tasty but it was a lot. I couldn't finish it all, which is saying a lot for me. The rest of my party also really enjoyed their meals. They came out exactly as described on the menu, no extra "special sauce" or depth of flavor or something else to excite the taste buds. They did open up a nachos bar as we ate (in anticipation of happy hour?) which was nice but by then we were pretty stuffed. Called for a togo order ... ok one word! Chaos! I was one of 3 people filling a Togo order complaint! Look this is their bread and butter selling food without occupying a table! I showed the manager I was still on hold, for the entire drive from my house. Walked in 3 hostesses standing around cleaning menus, and a guy at a register at the front door on his phone. But no one can take a togo order? Still on hold. Called for manager he said he's sorry he's one person and will have it ready in 7 min. Chuys is one of the best, if not the best tex-mex places around. I eat here atleast 2 or 3 times a month. The creamy jalapeno dip is insanly good and addictive im always full by the time my food comes. Pretty much anything on the menu is good but my fav is the chicka chicka boom boom. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, then this is not your joint. This is super Americanized tex-mex with the majority of it's workers not even of Hispanic descent. Other than that, their food is not bad. It is a bit pricey but that is expected with places like these. Our server brought out chips and salsa along with another jalapeno ranch type dip as we were sitting and refilled the chips and dips every time it looked low. I normally don't like my salsa super spicy so I thought their salsa was just right. It had a nice taste with chunky tomatoes. I ordered the comida deluxe and split it with my sister. Splitting it was the best idea ever because the comida deluxe came with a lot of food, in my opinion. There were two cheese enchiladas, two chicken flautas, two queso dipped chips, a crunchy beef taco, spanish rice, refried beans, and a little bit of guacamole. Every thing tasted good and satisfied my craving for tex-mex. The rice was a bit on the bland side, but I just added some of the tasty salsa to it and it tasted fine. My bf ordered the steak burrito and it came out a lot smaller than I had envisioned it in my head. It was kind of the size of a regular burrito from Taco Bell, so don't expect some big giant burrito.
