Maybe it's just me but I don't like the food at Chuy's. The ambiance, atmosphere, service is superb. I've eaten here several times though, and I just don't like the food. I wish I did because this is a really fun place to go with friends and family. Every time I've been we have enjoyed 5* service. I'm going to give it one more try and see if I can find something on the menu I like. I've been many times with no luck so far. My opinion is that they have the worst Queso I've ever eaten. To each his own, some people swear by this place and even I admit that it's fun to go here. Maybe the problem is that it's a few blocks from Pappasito's and I love the food there. This is a first! After waiting about 40 minutes for a table, finally sat down with my family and, after ordering, noticed that some dots on the wall were moving. It seems that there were small bugs coming from a space in the wall. We let our server know and she got a manager to come over. Linda, the manager on duty, promptly moved us to another table. We are from Austin and Chuy's is one of our favorite restaurants. We were staying across the highway in the Hampton Inn and wanted to eat here, but the negative reviews almost made us miss out on it. We went on an early Friday evening and the parking lot was full. There was seating available so we were seated immediately. Greeters were nice and we ended up with a friendly and outgoing waiter named Kam. He gave us excellent guidance on drinks and automatically brought out the creamy jalapeno dip (instead of us having to ask). He was very attentive and kept our chips, drinks and dip topped off. Our order came out in the time you would expect with no delays. Our order was correct, even with my daughter and son's specific requests. We could tell no difference between this one and any location in Austin. We would definitely eat here again. read more

This place is extremely welcoming any time I have been here. The food selection is varied and what you'd expect to see at a Tex-Mex location. Their sauces (boom/creamy jalapeno/picante) are above normal quality and really enhance the food. The tortillas are hand made at site. The atmosphere feels homely with various themes adorning different parts of the restaurant. Almost a west coast theme type of restaurant on a beach type of establishment. They offer curbside and in person pickup for a quick lunch/dinner as well. During the height of pandemic I didn't attend in person,but always ordered curbside which always added in an extra fee for handling of some sort which made no sense along with taxes and with the fact that you may want to leave a tip you'd always end up paying $10-12 extra. They've since then gotten rid of the fee, but was a major incovienience for a majority of the year. In addition attending in person post-pandemic the menus are now one paper sheet front and back and badly organized with very little information regarding the food available. I understand the need for this, however there is no images available for any of the food therefore when I brought my out of country relatives they had very little context as to what some of the food was. Overall I would definitely recommend this location because despite it's shortcomings, the overall service and food are never a let down. read more

I'm a big fan of Chuy's in general and this is a good location. I've never had to wait very long to be seated. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's all about the creamy jalapeno dip they serve when they seat you. Best part is, it's completely free. Honestly, I could drink the stuff. But be sure to save room for an entre because they do not disappoint either. The entre that I like to order includes a taco, enchilada of your choice covered with a topping of your choice, rice, and refried beans. It doesn't have a name and so you basically have to describe it to your server to order it. I've also had their beef fajitas. They are not the best I've ever had. That distinction goes to Pappasitos. But they get the job done. I'm also not big on their flour tortillas but again, they get the job done. All in all, I'm a fan of Chuy's. This is a good location where you will receive friendly service. No complaints here. read more

If you're looking for good Tex Mex (don't expect Mexican Mexican food) this is a good spot ! This was our first time there and my bf and I loved it. To start off, the chips and salsas were on point. The jalapeño ranch sauce was so gooooood, the pico sauce had just the right kick to it, and the free queso was so good that we could not stop eating it. (no, really, it was THAT good!) It resembled Torchy's Tacos's queso, and the best thing about it is that it was FREE. Next, the service was great! Marcos took care of us and went above and beyond. He looks like he's really passionate about his job because it shows in his work ethic. Moreover, we both ordered the Elvis Memorial Combo and it was a lot of food !! Definitely a bang for your buck. I'd taken my son's(4) to enjoy a Sunday meal and celebrate my youngest son bday. After whispering to the waitress my son's birthday was that day. She called out a staff member to initiate a celebration. A guy came out from the kitchen and put 2 coned cups in my son's mouth and gave him 2 take out boxes, then he announced to the entire restaurant his birthday and had my child run around the restaurant flapping while he sang happy bday. The restaurant patron'sj laughed and clapped along. But most laughed at my child uncontrollably.I was in shock and after my child felt belittled. We weren't greeted for 10 minutes and when the server finally came by to say she would be w/ us in a minute... she kept waiting on one other particular table. It was quite rude. We reserved the sunroom for a surprise birthday party for my husbands 50th birthday. I called several times leading up to event date to make sure the still had our reservations. We were told the fajita bar would be setup for a party of 30 people. When I arrived there wasnt a fajita bar setup. The manager on duty reported she wasnt informed of the fajita bar but for me not to worry she had it all under control AND SHE DID! Chuy's recently opened a new location in Humble and I've been to this location a few times during visits with the fam. It's most definitely Tex-Mex and not authentic Mexican food, but that's what I like about it. I mean their "green sauce" is basically ranch with some green coloring from cilantro and jalapenos and that is OK because I know that it's Tex-Mex. I also like that the have several selections on the menu dedicated the King himself, Elvis Presley. The chicken coated in potato chips is really good. I went here a few weeks ago and ate off the Green Chile Festival menu. I had some beef tacos topped with a spicy slaw and green chile sauce in homemade corn tortillas and it was really fantastic! The thing I find interesting about Chuy's is that no matter what dish I order, EVERYTHING is spicy. Not unbearably hot or anything, but every dish, sauce, and side seems to pack some heat and I appreciate that. I was disappointed to hear that they had no draught beer at all but they do have bottled beer, so no worries. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch after shopping with my daughters in the strip center. Happy to see they are back in business after Harvey. We were seated right away with no wait time. Everything looks just like it did before. Our waitress was quick to greet us, she was friendly and she wore her smile very well. I ordered the shrimp tacos which were battered and fried to perfection, they were pretty darn good. Only complaint really is the food taking too long to get out and by the time of arrival we were ready to box up and head home. Call me impatient if you must but sitting at a table for 45 minutes in a crowded noisy restaurant filled with Saturday shoppers and middle aged gossipers while being starred at by my teenage daughters was less than desirable, if only they had refilled the salsa bowl, just once even would have made this trip completely different. Hungry people are not happy people. Our drinks barely contained ice and ended up sitting empty on the table once our food had been brought to us. I understand that it was busy but that's just an excuse more than a real reason. Maybe instead of seating more people that will ultimately be given less than standard service, increase the wait time and focus on the guests that are seated and the quality of service being received.
