So me and my hubby and mom's in law went to Chuy's last night for our taco Tuesday outing (we normally go during lunch time) but we decided to mix it up and go in the evening! Food was great as always and our hostess Jamie was pleasant as well but I was a little bit disappointed when I asked for a NCAA bracket for an advertisement they had posted that if you come into the establishment between March 12th and March 14th and complete your bracket and if your team wins the NCAA championship (I'm guessing if you have the most points) you'll win free Chuy's for a specific amount of time! Here's where my displeasure comes in is when I asked the front desk person for a bracket and she responded that I would have to talk with the manager regarding it! Hmm why would I have to talk with the managers when there were bracket sheets right there on the vestibule! Now if they didn't want (me) or anyone playing then maybe they should remove the offer! My husband and I decided to try Chuys on a Saturday night. I love Mexican food. We were brought chips, salsa and jalapeño ranch. The salsa wasn't like most salsa. Both were quite spicy. We ordered our drinks, kinda bummed they didn't have any beer on draft or if there were we didn't see any. We were told about the margarita flight which is great if you like frozen margaritas. We ordered enchiladas and crispy tacos. The sauce on the enchiladas was not good. My husband enjoyed his tacos. Overall it was ok, but probably won't be returning. Had I known about their constant non-compliance with health regulations, I would never have ordered. But I did order via door dash. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and Mexican rice. Unfortunately it arrived cold as stone, so I am heating them right now in my oven. I did try the Mexican rice, it is dry and chalky. This is the second Chuy's location I've dined at, and my experience was similar at both places. Good service, really good food, reasonable prices, and a cool atmosphere. Chuy's serves Tex-Mex, not authentic Mexican food. I don't think many people know the difference. Let's put it this way, the majority of Mexicans wouldn't put nacho cheese on anything, don't use a lot of the spices you get in Tex-Mex, and probably would never consider using a flour tortilla. Anyway, I ordered the large nacho platter, and it was great. Just beware, they put a ton of jalapenos on it. If you don't like spicy, make sure you ask for them without. The food here is always amazing. To compare the last time I was here, the customer service was terrible but this time they had redeemed themselves. I sat at the bar and Heather the bartender was absolutely amazingly great. Her customer service skills was spot on . So, Chuys...I personally, have never been, but my fiancé wanted to get out of the house at the beginning of early evening. It looked really crowded but we were planning at sitting at the bar anyways. We were able to get right in . The ambiance is more island than Tex-mex but still cute. I ordered a Strawberry Mojito and I asked for a float of tequila ... it came in a little cup on the side! How cute! My fiancé ordered the Chuys Brew. It's basically a Corona-Rita but the difference is that the margarita is frozen. We were served our drinks right away and had a chance to look through the menu. We both decided on the chicken enchiladas with Boom Boom Sauce. It says medium but the green chilies sneak up on you with a slow, smoky heat. If you're not used to that, you should definitely get the tomatillo sauce.I ended up asking for a side of sour cream to take the edge off a little bit . The food came out piping hot and super fresh! The flavors aren't knock your socks off, it's more of a very basic version of Mexican food. The portions were more than fair I really enjoyed the fact that it was actual pieces of chicken in the enchilada that weren't overt shredded. I'm giving 4 stars because I feel like it took more than a little bit for our server at the bar to check on us. She was very polite and very helpful and the experience in itself was a 5/5. It's definitely a place that I would go just to have drinks and appetizers with my friends. It's not overly loud or hype. Very relaxing atmosphere for sure . For two drinks, and two entrees it was 50.06 . For me, that's a little steep considering the amount of chips and salsa you can get at an authentic Mexican joint and how much more alcohol you get in your drinks and how much bigger the glasses are .(bigger bang for your buck) also, the chips weren't the freshest but the salas was good. I had to seek out someone to get my water refilled and then that person forgot too. The menu is super basic. Has no options for vegetarians really and the food just isn't good. We were sat down and the wait ress asked if we wanted queso, we obviously said yes, she didn't say anything about it being over 8 dollars for a small cup of cheese that tasted like it came from a jar. When we asked to talk to a manager to try to get it taken off because we had no idea about the extra charge, the manager walked buy and set the bill back on our table, nothing taken off, and ahe didn't say anything. A few of us got together and visited the Southport location of Chuy's on 5/4/22 to avoid the Cinco de Mayo crowd. We arrived just in time to take advantage of the special price of $5 on the Queso appetizer (normally $8 and change). It came with a good portion of chips which I got to go so I could enjoy my entree without feeling overstuffed. As is pretty standard there were complimentary chips with a tradition salsa and strangely ranch dip to get us started. These chips were light and crunchy without being overly oily - much better than most. Would have preferred a spicier salsa option instead of the ranch dip which seemed a bit strange but no-one in our party complained. The specialty drin cost more than my meal but it was FANTASTIC and I'm glad I added the swirl of lemonade. Usually burritos are smothered in the sauce but not at Chuy's. The exterior thin and crisp. It was filled with lightly seasoned chicken, cheese and cilantro. The sauce was medium heat and complimented the burrito. Not a lot to say about the rice, but one of my friends mentioned the beans were better than most. The best thing is I brought 1/3 of my burrito and half my rice home along with my queso so I get to enjoy all these great flavor again. Service was spot on, the interior nicely decorated and we were in and out in just over an hour. Wish I would have had room for desert. I'll have something to look forward to on my next visit when I plan to order some tacos...one of my fellow diners had a taco and it was simply stuffed with meat and cheese with a thin crunchy taco holding everything together. read more

First visit at the newest location-Southport Road. We had tried to visit much closer to their opening day but they were packed with waits in excess of ninety minutes. Today, Cinco de Mayo, we got there at 4pm and was seated immediately. Let's start with our server, Lisha. She was what you'd hope for in any great dining experience. What a fun, knows her job well, really listens and "is on it!" server extraordinaire! She really made our dinner super fun. We've eaten at two other locations in Indiana and two other locations outside Indiana and by far, this was the best visit ever. I ordered my favorite steak burrito with rice and beans and the deluxe tomatillo sauce and hubby ordered the chicken Chuychanga with boom boom sauce. We both loved everything about our dinners. Prepared perfectly, refills delivered to the table literally the moment I think I want more (now that's a great server!) and drinks were great. Just all around excellent. Buuut, one minor complaint. We bought three special Cinco de Mayo Margaritas and we got the special souvenir color changing cups that DON'T change color! Ummm, surely someone noticed that they don't change color?! Really disappointing as we told our teen we'd bring her a cool souvenir. I would suggest you don't advertise a special souvenir if it's not. While this didn't detract from our visit because I didn't discover this until we got home, I wouldn't have dropped $30 on drinks for the special cups. The Chuychanga was just ok. The chips are very good, thin and crispy and the jalapeño ranch dipping sauce is fantastic. The tres leches was amazing! So the meal was not a total loss. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. But at $26 before tip (no alcohol and no extras like queso for the chips- a small dish is $4.19) I think it's a little expensive compared to the locally owned Mexican restaurants. Our entire family loves Chuy's. Seriously. Our seven year old announced it was the best restaurant ever, and our five year old cleaned his plate. The food is made fresh, and you can absolutely tell. (Oh, the tortillas...) The queso, creamy jalapeño dip... hatch green chili sauce.... you can't go wrong. The kids meals come with dessert- either a vanilla ice cream or a push pop sherbet. The margaritas are made with lime juice, not an artificial mix. The management truly cares about your service- we met three different managers.
