It's beautiful on the inside! I'm not sure what I was expecting but it was light, bright, with super high ceilings and cool wall decor. The menu looked pretty typical, but they do have mahi mahi tacos if that's your thing. I went with the fajitas chipotle which had chicken, steak and pineapples in a chipotle sauce. So good! My adult son took me out for dinner last week. I had visited this location years ago when it first opened but haven't been back in years. We were greeted immediately upon entering and were taken to a booth. Our server was kind and engaging and patient as I perused through the menu to find something that sounded good. Honestly, so much of it did! I'm a taco girl at heart so I got the chicken tacos (with onions and cilantro) and they were delicious. The chicken was tender and the corn tortillas were perfectly warmed. The chips and salsa were yummy, too! He got a salad and loved it. We were both pleased with our meal, never felt rushed, and enjoyed the opportunity to connect. It wasn't too loud in there and it was nice to see other families out enjoying a meal together. For $12 I ordered a chimichanga Shredded beef that came out and was about 3 inches long with a tablespoon of diced tomatoes and a scoop of beans. The shredded beef was tough and chewy. The food was extremely bland from the start with the salsa. The taco salad was very watery so I sent it back for a different salad. Another person in our party ordered tacos and they didn't taste right so he sent them back and ordered a different set of tacos however because a bite had been taken out of the taco they would only replace the 2 that hadn't been touched. The waiter was very rude and had an attitude after we asked why there was only 2 tacos. The guacamole was the only decent thing we tried. The restaurant has dust and dirt on all of the plants and the wall had white stuff all over it. Definitely do not recommend this place. read more

The restaurant was decorated very well! It looked very clean and spacious! Started with the chips and queso, which was good. The queso was a little runny... but you really can't go wrong with melted cheese. We got the Leon Parillada which was a combo fajitas with scallops, shrimp, steak and chicken. They doused it with some tequila and lit it on fire table side. The menu indicated that fajitas came with the normal grilled onions, peppers, tomatoes. But this flaming plate was just protein. I missed the veggies. Also got the Mahi Mahi tacos, the fish was all diced up and it the slaw on top looked like just a bagged slaw combo, not particularly fresh. Service seemed annoyed and busy. She forgot to bring out tortillas for the fajitas. If I were in the area would stop by, but wouldn't go out of your way for it... seemed like just the standard Americanized Mexican faire. Not a great first experience! We arrived early on a Friday evening. Seated right away but all the way in the back by the kitchen and the restrooms. It was VERY noisy! I do not recommend anyone sitting here. The Pacers were playing and the TV was over top of our table. That wasn't the problem...the problem was the abundance of staff waiting outside of the kitchen area watching the game which is again, right over our heads. I felt as though they were staring and watching us eat the entire time. On top of that noise, a staff member was vacuuming most of the time we were there. I hope this is not everyone's experience! Let's talk about the food. The queso was not warm and had multiple "lumps" of cheese. I ordered the Green Quesadilla. Please no one order this. It was smaller than my hand. I asked the waitress if this was correct and she assured me it was. This baby tortilla filled with cheese was $8.99. YIKES! Needless to say I left very hungry. Do not order off the menu on their website. The prices are completely wrong and they say "someone else made it for them and they're nothing they can do about it". Based on THEIR official website, my order should have been $20 max. When I went in to pick up my order they charged me $28 for enchiladas and cheese. Let's be fair, living in Indy, there's not a shortage of Mexican cuisine. Leon's is one of my favorites. The food is always hot and fresh, the staff are very attentive and friendly. Upon arriving we were immediately seated (it was around 4:15ish) our drink orders were taken, and shortly after, our food orders . Everything was all said, done and delivered to our by 4:35. My fiancé ordered Carne Asada Tacos and I ordered the Burrito Chorizo .. the tacos were your standard steak, onions, and cilantro in a corn tortilla .. my burrito consisted of, peppers, onions, steak, shrimp and grilled pineapple.. topped with cheese sauce and chorizo and served with beans. Everything was delicious and I didn't feel rushed to leave just because we were finished and lingering. The staff still continued to check on us and make sure we were okay. I love this place and the atmosphere! I gave 4 stars because the music tends to be a bit loud . Along with tv's and restaurant chatter, it can be a bit much . My husband and I stopped here for our Valentine's lunch. I have to say that I was really impressed with the whole dining experience from beginning to end! The restaurant is incredibly clean. I also liked that the decor inside was more elegant than the usual brightly colored Mexican restaurant. The environment is very relaxing. We were greeted by our very friendly waiter. He seated us and helped me figure out the high chair, car seat trick for my 4 month old. Which was much appreciated! The menus were very easy to read. Leon seems to offer more authentic Mexican food while also offering American substitutions. Every day of the week they have a lunch and dinner special, as well as a lunch menu. The prices in general seem to be very reasonable. We ordered drinks and our food. I like that they have a good vegetarian section with a decent amount of offerings. It's also nice that the vegetarian meals come with black beans and rice. It is the first Mexican restaurant that hasn't tried passing off refried beans as vegetarian. (Refried beans usually contain lard) I like that they also had a kids menu that had more American kid's food offerings. My picky eating,special needs son chose the pepperoni pizza and french fries. He was very happy with his meal. My husband chose the pork carnitas and said they were the best he's ever had. My vegetarian meal came out perfectly and was delicious. It's rare to find a meal that tastes good but also healthy. This meal did that for me. It was delicious. We also had some of the best service that we have ever had. My husband really wanted to try this location. It's pretty close to where we work so it's a nice location for us. When we first entered I immediately noticed how nicely decorated it was. It's a large place with a lot of seating. Our waiter was attentive but not very friendly. I think that's important, especially with all the other Mexican restaurants in the area. The prices weren't bad at all. They do have a lot of fun margaritas options. I liked their drink menu option a lot! I got the pina colada The food was really good. I got the arroz con pollo. It's my go to usually. You get a big portion, so you definitely get your moneys worth. Here you don't get the sides with it. Usually you get a plate of tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream. Stuff like that. They only bring you taco shells with the chicken and rice. That was my only down side to it. I will warn you the salsa is SPICY. I asked if they had a milder one and he just said no and walked away. My husband loves spicy things and even he thought it was pretty spicy. So I got cheese dip to snack on since I couldn't handle the salsa. Overall it was only okay. Nothing wow'd me enough of go back, but it's a nice enough place that if someone else wanted to go, I wouldn't say no. read more

I really wanted to like this place! The food was okay at best, definitely nothing extraordinary compared to other similar restaurants in the area. The queso was cold and in general most of the food lacked flavor. The ambiance is nice, I did enjoy the decor but hated being sat right next to the bathrooms when there were other options. My main issue is with the service. Our waiter just seemed to not be present and was fairly careless of our party's needs and desires unless it was on his own accord. One of our drinks had a plastic lid floating in it and he didn't even apologize. He was not helpful in the slightest aside from delivering our food. It's likely that I would have thought higher of this establishment had our service been better, but it was extremely lackluster. read more

The Verde sauce and refried beans were particularly good. Good flavor in The chicken Monterrey, not just redone veggies from a steamtable. Chips were good salsa could have more chunky fresh veggies and cilantro. Noise level will be a problem when it's busy. There's a lot of kitchen noise, the noise of a loud child on the other side of the restaurant sounded very close. Nice and unique decor but lots of hard surfaces. So we went here for my birthday and it was great! ONE of the cleanest Mexican restaurants I have gone to in a very long time. So if you all have a fancy to try something new for the carne asada, it's basically flank steak but enhances and tenderized with its marinade and OMFG it was so tender and good. I also tried their fries chimichangas, and well let's just say I can eat my body weight in that covered in their cheese sauce it was delicious and that chicken in it was really tender and good. OH ALSO did I mention that the food for a Friday night at 8pm was PIPING HOT!
